IMPORTANT NOTICE :
It has been pointed out to me that I did not wire the tracker correctly and this creates a fire risk. This is due to a lack of a fuse at the battery end. There is a fuse at the tracker end, but there is a risk of a short occurring from wire fraying or chaffing from the tracker fuse to the battery end. If you are unsure please get it installed by a professional.
This tracker is GSM capable (also referred to as 2G or GPRS) and only works with a GSM network. GSM networks are being discontinued in some countries and by some networks. Please check that your sim card is still GSM capable and you still have GSM coverage in your area...Don’t hesitate to ask me if you are unsure about what this all means.

It supports 2g GSM network but I think the APN settings are different so its not working? Did your sim card work right away without changing any settings? If so what brand and did you only put money on texts or did you put money on data / calls too?

you don't have to wire this directly to the battery,in fact its best you don't. Thats the first place the thief will look. They will just simple disconnect the battery until they find the tracker.And the second place is the OBD socket. This can be wired anywhere its signal is not obstructed by metal. It can be wired to wherever you can get a 12v power source and a ground from. Use your imagination and remember thieves are stupid,its in the job discription.

Hi. No I didn't do any setup. Maybe try restarting or resetting it. If that doesn't work I'd contact the supplier.
What is the drain on the battery being that it is connected 24/7 directly to the battery?
It uses very little power. If you don't use you car at all, it will drain your battery in about 2 weeks.
@@asama1984 oh that sounds like its eating lots of battery if it only take 2 weeks for the car battery to drain. What would happen to a little scooter, if connected it to one of those..

It's the cheapest of them all, 9v to 36v.. no geo-fencing, or speed lock... Just simple tracking based on GSM network. Better to use with a relay to stop draining battery.
I've got one but the clock and date set at 00:44 and 16-10-13 respectively. I'm guessing it's supposed to set that itself, but it doesn't. Any ideas?
Ive been using this tracker for about 9months now. Works fine. Just about to get another one online, and there is a description saying after a year, customer needs to pay platform fee to keep using the gps. Any comments?

Awesome. I grew up in Palmy and never left lol. This particular tracker doesn't have real time tracking but you can get ones that can do real-time. It depends what software the manufacturer has loaded.

That's a good point. I thought it turns off straight away but according to the supplier website it has 1 to 4 hours battery life.
And just as an idea you could maybe try relay the tracker through a small rechargeable battery?
@@asama1984 Hide a small 12v battery that is also charged from the car .This would in effect give you about 5-7 days .Once the main battery has been disconnected

There are different versions available and the particular one I have is no longer available.
It is best to contact the supplier you are looking to get it from or have a look at the specs on their websites.

Does the gps unit work at all on its own? Or does it have to be connected to the battery at all times? Any thief can cut the positive from the battery and it would be totally useless unless it has an internal battery.
A theif doesn't usually cut the battery as soon as they have your car. You might have sometime before that happens

snrubyak. On my vodafone app, you can add additional phone numbers, so I check credit for 2 different SIMs on my app. I would imagine you can do the same with the spark app?... I don't know why the spark SIM didn't work. I took it to the spark shop in Palmy and they weren't very helpful. They just said that tracker is from overseas and probably didn't work on a NZ network. I put in my Vodafone SIM and worked straight away...But if you have a spark SIM give that a go first, might work for you.

Yup you can do that. Just make sure your power supply gives you more than 9V, and put the tracker towards the top on the dashboard so that the GPS signal is not obstructed by any metal parts.

seems accurate to me. And it doesn't work in a covered location so I'd assume it needs a GPS signal to find your location.
I find the tk102/tk103a or b to be most accurate gps trackers around. The tk definitely do not use triangulation. I got a large property n both tk models were able to tell me which side of the house my vehicles are parked on.
Your wiring technique is awful - just wrapping the cable is not a good sollution - you need to solder or crimp the wires together

Hi Asama. I’ve finally found a carrier that supports gprs network and have the sim card installed. All three of the lights are on indicating that it is working properly. When I text the info required to set up the device there is no response. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi Mate, do you have the link to the instructions website, mislaid mine, I have one of these, and the best sim in the UK is the Classic 02 Sim, they are on ebay cheap as chips, mine works great and you only need to send a text to the tracker once every 6 months to keep your 02 sim active

Set up should be the same, but instructions for getting a text response are probably different.
Also when installing, it's better to crimp the wires instead of electrical tape to prevent moisture damage.

Yes it's a SIM card that needs to be in service and you need credit on it like a normal phone. I will need to send you a text SMS to let you know its location.

That's right. Some cell phone providers don't use 2G coverage anymore, so make sure the SIM card is 2G capable

Question. Is there a concern about the tracker draining the battery , if it is wired directly to the battery like you did?
The tracker uses very little current. If don't use your car for about 2 weeks the battery will eventually drain, but if you're driving your car every day that shouldn't be a problem.

The one I have doesn't work on an app, but it depends on your tracker software.

I'm not sure what the reply you received means sorry...If you can't figure it I suggest contacting the supplier you got this from. You managed to communicate with the device which is the main thing, so you know it works. Now you have to figure out how to use it...Good luck.
That's LBS information, the reply that the device sends when it isn't getting a GPS signal. You can enter those data into cellidfinder.com/cells/findcell and it puts the device in the Takapuna area of Auckland, New Zealand.
Is it possible to track the vehicleor any other object/subject live? I mean..without a need to keep sending the sms ... i find it kinda impractical and even annoying . would be nice to be able to pair it through the internet with some particular android device, and using some app, to be able to constrnatly see where the object is and where it's going..without sending and reloading anything ... is there such an option in the settings of this particular gps locator? thank you
hello friend, this gps tracker can only track location by sending sms, it can't use with app. it don't need internet can also work.
i think the point of this is that you don't need internet or monthly subscription so it costs very little. at least I think that's the case. That's why it's more cumbersome. But if you keep sending the sms every minute you can get coordinates as you go. Yes it's less practical but also a cheap way to track as a last resort in case of emergency or theft only.
I think you can by using www.dyegoo.net website.. but apn needs to be set according to manual. Haven't tested it yet.

The IMEI number is usually on a label on the unit (outside, or inside the cover). Failing that, once you have installed your SIM card, you can usually interrogate it by SMS e.g. for my device I send the message "imei000000" to the telephone number of the SIM card (where "000000" is the password), and the device replies by texting me the IMEI number.
Di you check this from a few miles away to see if you can still connect to it ,ie if if your car is stolen can you see where it is.
Yes I tried that. The tracker doesn't communicate directly with your phone. The message is sent to a cellular tower and to your phone and vice-versa. You don't even need to be in the same country.

You need 9V to 12V. Your scooter has 60V. You can try fit a resistor across your circuit.

If you have an app like google maps loaded you can use GPS without using data or SMS. So you're right, in theory you wouldn't need a SIM card, but this is not how this device is set to work. It would require different programming and hardware.
This product will not work in Australia as it only works on the 2G network which has now been switched off.
That's correct. Most countries are switching off their 2G networks. These trackers are now being made with 3G and 4G with app operation.

EdCase. Unfortunately not. GPS signals travel through plastic and glass but not through metallic objects

I have one of these, set up and working, but it's takes credit off my sim card without me calling it just hidden in car not been accessed any idea why it takes about 50p per day.
Keith Gilpin. Ok mine doesn't do that. It could be your SIM card provider. Do you have it on a plan? I just have mine topped up with $30 (NZ) which you have to renew every 12 months, so in effect I'm paying about 8 cents (NZ) per day, and it 2 cents to SMS... If you're not sure if you're on a plan or not, take your SIM card out for a couple of days to see if you get charged...If you still get charged it's your SIM card, if you don't talk to the gps tracker supplier. Could be a setting it's on? your tracker might have a subscription fee? Hope that helps 😊
two out of three lights are flashing on mine...the middle light is on, but the other two are flashing. Nothing I do changes this fact except switching the unit off or disconnecting it. What is the solution to this?

It will work anywhere where you have a phone signal and GPS signal.

You need to enable gprs mode. Simply send SMS command, "gprs123456" without the quote. If it still does not work with DAGPS, try setting APN name if you haven't done so. So the command would be "apn123456 mobilenet" for example. To disable gprs mode, send "sms123456". Of course 123456 is the default password so replace it with whatever password you set.

It depends which country you're in. And the mobile network needs 2G network still running.

I liked all of your video, but in most cars, such trackers will still work well, inside the car (of the few that I have tested!)! That way there are few worries about moisture, and even a very minor "front end shunt" might destroy the Tracker where you installed it.
I have even installed them UNDER a car front seat and they picked up enough SATs to work just fine, though this may reflect that the unit I used had a high quality GPS receiver....I have no idea.....Insulation tape is over a period of a year or so, not to be recommended I feel....
Maybe you should think about it and make some tests?
Even my TomTom works fine under the front seat I found (I thought I had switched it off one day, which gave me the idea for the tracker placing by the way!!!!) of my Mitsubishi. I do understand that some cars block more of the signal than others of course.
But I cannot personally recommend using an OBD socket located under the bonnet, unless you also mention that the OBD must also be fully proofed against water ingress as well. I am lucky, mine is under the steering column inside the car and "open" anyway......

Thanks for the feedback. I agree. I would have put it under the dash, but I found it easier connecting direct to the battery and only wiring a short distance to the bumper. I didn't know enough about internal car wiring to find a wire feeding 9V plus. I don't know a lots about cars, but I'm trying to do more maintenance on my two. It's a great learning experience.
And yes, the tracker would remain in a better condition inside the car (as long as your car doesn't get too hot). I installed the tracker just under a year ago and the tracker still works. Although I had to change the masking tape as it was starting to get loose.

yes but the cables have to be connected to the battery, right? there would be the first place where a thieft would look to see if there is anything connected to the batery :S, can it be connect to another place? OBD is not a good place either, because thiefts would look there too?
I did connect it to the battery but as you saw, you can work it in and make it look like it's part of the normal wiring. Down the line the wires divide up to different parts of the car, so a thief would need to find the time to figure out where each wire goes (and that's assuming they know there is a tracker there in the first place) . Also with the OBD port you're connecting the wire to the back of the port connector. So it is hard to see unless you pull the connector out.
A thief could also disconnect a car alarm if you had one, so no system is fool proof. All you can do is make it harder for your car to be stolen.
tobias willis If you are familiar with electronics and cars my suggestion would be to dismount your fuse box, lock the car, wait 10 minutes (after that time all ECUs are gone to sleep with pretty much every manufacturer) and then measure which of the wires in the back of the fuse box are still live. Those are going to be the wires which will always stay life when the car is completely turned off. Then wire your kit to those. I guess no thief would actually disassemble the fuse box, at least not when he is on the run with a stolen car. However I would also not want to put a tracker in the bumper (Very obvious). A good place for a hiding spot would be inside the headlamp (Some modern cars actually have some space where the electronics sit, it is sealed off dry and there is a provided place for cables going in), another place might be underneath the windshield pretty much where the wipers are mounted. Often there is a space there but since that is a drain for water you want to make sure it is very well sealed. Also in the video I would have put a few bags of silicia in with the device to catch any moisture which might have been sealed in the bag and I would have sealed the bag off with glue to ensure no water gets in.

Hi mate I installed this device a couple of months ago and all of a sulden I can't wiew any historical data. I have loads of money on the sim card and it does show the location! I went out on my motorbike on the 19th two days ago... But it won't show my route.
It may need a reset. Disconnect from the battery and leave it disconnected for 4 hours. If that doesn't work the tracker might be faulty. I suggest contacting your supplier.
@@asama1984 hi thank you. This worked and now historical data is showing. Its weird because the tracking device actually stopped working just as I got within 50 yards of the house while still riding it as its in my motorbike. I could see everything before the 18th June 3:09PM nothing after that period until the 21st when I moved it again for comuting to work. I disconnected device and reconnected and re logged in to Dygoo. Seems to be working OK now. thanks again I have turned to your advice before so I ow you a beer mate... Or a virtual one cheers.

when the car is on, how long does the device stay on?, just as an example my car gets stolen at night, i wake up in the morning my car is gone, and i check it will the battery still be alive?
Joey Deurloo. The device doesn't turn off if it has a constant power supply. If it has no power I believe it has a built in battery which lasts up to 4 hours?

It depends what software your tracker comes with. If your instructions tell you to download an app then do it
