@williambryant5946 it's an all steel and glass door with awkward leverage caused by off center weight. The design has been around along time, but carefully engineered, including fall arrest systems. Riley has banked his safety on a hinge at the top and two rollers at the bottom, and two cables, all burdened with a lot of forces fighting against them, and I doubt there is an arrest system in place. I upgraded my wood stove a couple years ago to a Blaze King - Sirocco 20 in my on grid remote house in Northern British Columbia. It’s one of their smaller models because my house is only 1100 sq feet. As part of the remodel I also reinsulated the the whole house. Blaze King stoves are super efficient and of a superior air tight design with a catalytic reburner to keep the chimney super clean. They are quite expensive at +3000$ Cdn - but I went from burning 10 cords of firewood per year in the house to burning less than 3 cords. You only have to load it 2 or 3 times a day when burning it 24hrs and you only have to clean the chimney a couple times a year. It was well worth the upgrade!
I think you should do something you’ve never done before and something you need. How about a large stone retaining wall behind the shop, then extend the shop backwards to create an additional space for more shop space and for a bedroom above it.
How about adding an additional bedroom as a big project? Also would love to hear more about the your plans for the shallow well water. Needless to say, getting a fully independent water supply would be huge!

Looks like garage flooring next to desk... garage floor incoming? Jeep Wagoner maybe? Enclose deck to expand living space? Loose and missing screws on electrical switch plates.
Well I think I found two eggs.... First the SXS under the deck and second the chair lift leaning on the shed... But no clue what you'd do with it!!! The SXS will be MUCH better than the 8x8 !
I’ve been a sub for several years, when you were still in your camper. I’m awed by what you’ve accomplished. You both amaze me by your knowledge of well…everything!
I too have been a sub since nearly the beginning. I've slacked off a bit sincebefore Oliver was born because our son and his wife had a baby girl, Addilyn. 🤩
Courtney and Riley have lived up to their name... Ambition Strikes. You two have a very long resume of talents and skills so nothing will stop you from your next adventure. Blessings to you three.
WOW, 3 years, I was watching the shows where you just purchased the property again, yall gone so far in such a short prtiod of time! Young ambition as yours isnt common
The chair lift will be a great project. You should also consider a zip line. I built a 200' Zipline and my kids loved it when they were younger. Definitely a Tree fort/tree house is needed when Oliver gets a bit bigger.
I absolutely love what you guys have done with your home, shop, and property!! It's like a dream come true. I really enjoy your channel and hope you guys can live a very comfortable life together in your home. With that said, It'd be cool if Riley could add a lift to the shop. You never know when you might need one. Keep up the great work guys!! God bless. 🙏
The clearing is where you are going to build your new home? 😊 you could maybe make Courtney’s office into Oliver’s bedroom. You have a new side by side and a road sander you have plans for them
A Spiral Stair Case up to the new deck area would be cool and less space consuming. Those are also easily put together with welded steel which I am sure you could create yourself.
Thank you for the video. It was a great walk down memory lane. I found yall when you were building the truck camper and would catch a video every now and then and have to catch up on what I had missed. I caught on of the early Idaho videos and I have watched every video with in hours if not minutes of it coming out. I appreciate yalls energy and the content is always entertaining.
I am amazed at the fact you only have one bedroom in all those buildings. Also concerned that the workshop is beneath your home because of fire risk and noise. Have you considered walling in some of the new equipment shed and insulating it as a workshop? Do you need a double-height workshop that you can use year round? It seems the most logical solution would be to extend the floor of your home into some or all of the upper part of the existing workshop.
You two are inspiring and amazing couple looking at what you have accomplished at a young age consistently creating. I had a 31 year career as a firefighter, 19 working in SLO County. I had the opportunity too hire Robert (Rob) who’s another CA Poly grad who purchase your truck/camper and got to toured it. Rob turned me onto the truck/camper build, and have been following your channel since then. I’m always looking forward too you next video, THANK YOU.
So... *"The Pack" sign on the cutting table? *New side-by-side? *Odd "yoke" looking thing leaning on the shed? And questions... *Is the container building roof rusting? *How long can the tent work for Ollie (for you)? Maybe extend/enclose/divide the loft for an additional room? Great effort on everything! Sending wishes for a safe and relaxing winter.
Just curious. We also have a baby, about 1.2yrs old now. (by the way kudos y'all are troopers juggling this with a baby. My wife and I can relate! 😂) You're going to eventually have to expand and add another room or two for Oliver and whatever other kiddo down the road. Would you just wall in the office and convert that? Or extend the back out with another bathroom? Just from our experience you'll want that separation sooner than later. Anyways, you guys rock.
Your home, property, ability and talent to build and repair, and your style of living was my dream until I lost by ability to walk. I don't say this for pity I just want to stress how impressed and happy I am for you. It's great to see the "younger" generation with ambition, will power and skills. Thank you for sharing and God Bless.
It looks like a lean-to addition on the shed side of the barndo is in the works. I also wonder what "The Pack" sign is all about. Railing around the roof deck and a container guest apartment. Chair lift and trail system for skiing and the side-by-side. Best of luck to the three of you. May you have a blessed holiday season.
Since you have a wet spot on the property. It might be worth trying to drill a lateral well. Back in the day around here, drilling laterals was the cool thing to do. I built a cute little machine for doing it, many years ago. I made it 350ft back into the hill. Unfortunately I never got a working well. I got side tracked on other stuff. But I think you could make a machine in your shop. They are pretty simple, just a spindle and a winch for the travel. It would give you another unique item to do in your shop for your channel. I bet you could get some water out of your wet spot in 100ft or less.
Cortney, Riley, at this point, just two years on the mountain, the sky is the limit. You have systematically tackled every reason you shouldn't have been there and now it's payday coming- with Oliver to boot! And we have been delighted to see it. May it ever be!
Someday I'd like to see a detailed "behind these scenes" of how you create videos. What softwares, gadgets, models of mics... Particularly I would love to know how exactly you rig up the aviation headsets in an intercom fashion to provide good audio while on heavy equipment. That mic trick is unique to your channel I think!
14:56 screams concrete pump to me, possibly for a water storage tank of some kind (existing well as long term solution alluded to). the new UTV under the deck is blurred out in the thumbnail but visible in the video, probably for going back & forth to the new property.
I think you need to make a treehouse! Big enough to sleep guests. And of course with a slide to get down. An alternative: You need a secret hideaway, a secret cave to retreat to, of course with a pool, halfway in and out… But if you need a small(er) project… Oliver needs a place to play. So some nice playground equipment would be nice to be able to have his own playground. Together with a relaxing bench so you can sit next to him…
Nice video to celebrate your hard work. It has been fun to watch you turn this property into your year round home. And, by the way you had a baby too. Thank you so much for taking the time to record and share your life with us.
Once you have a new den/living room, Oliver and Olivia?(babty?) will have a great play space! Yes a more perminant evolution of your water situation, and possibly starting layout for your new 'big home' build? Try to do a nice set of stairs (and a slide?) for the roof top deck. And Ryley, you still owe Courtney a hot tub! You guys give this old computer/engineer geek a wonderful feeling of fresh life. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
💕Design & build a bedroom for Oliver💕You could add an extension onto your existing property & make two bedrooms instead of one for Oliver & another for guests like grandparents💕
Courtney & Riley, What an amazing journey it has been. From the container home in Paso Robles to present. When you put all your projects together on video, it really shows your progress. Well done! You guys Rock! ❤❤
OLIVER! I don't know if he always does this but I noticed that when you were holding him, he wasn't holding on to you. He's just like leaning back into it. It reminded me of my son who did the same thing (he's 42 now). It used to annoy me that he didn't hold on because it made it so much harder to tote him anywhere. Thanks for the great tour of your house. Really lovely!
As I read so far Not a sole has talked about your dream home.. A long time ago u mentioned u had picked out a location. I bet those plants or in the works & before spring you’ll be clearing land . A half million subscribers can’t hurt. Bet that’s all part of your business plan, a project to add big time folks to life/business. Thanks for letting us come along. You’re an inspiration to us all the way you to work together.. God bless you both. I joined your channel at the end of the camper build.
We found the baby tent invaluable for traveling. Staying in a hotel/airbnb/van/tent, and having our little dude have his own space was amazing. He used it until he was nearly 5 yo.
I really what you two have done. I especially like how much storage you've packed into a relatively small space. My question is where is Oliver going to sleep when he's big enough that he wants his own room?
I love what you two have accomplished. I was looking forward to the house tour, and love it. 😊 Your little guy is precious and it'll be cool when you add on to the house to give him his own space. I can't wait to see what you have in mind you two. Looking forward to next week. 😊❤
an interesting and relaxing video, though I did play it back at 75% speed to allow my less than perfect hearing time to catch up. I did take the where and who am I test. I found that I lead a huge range of really interesting activities, none of which I actually know about, such as my musical career, sadly I am close to tome deaf, so that is not me. However, this was all about your build and what a job you have made of bringing this to life. I am not sure how long Oliver's tent will suffice for him, children have a disconcerting habit of growing, really fast at certain stages of life, and if Mk II arrives, thing might get tight, tent or no tent. I must pay my respect to Courtney's skill with all thing construction, you have the perfect feather light touch on the controls, without which I am sure progress would have been far more limited. So, continue to enjoy your life, flattening the challenges and keeping your family in comfort, while minding your own business. I thank you for giving me a tiny peek into your hugely successful take on life
I always appreciate how everything you guy build is so functional, and with a purpose on improving your lives. That said... The desktop image on Courtney's monitor, and the front grill hanging on the post in your shop has me wondering if you might be planning on building yourself a vintage off road truck of some kind? (you know... just for fun!) Whatever it is, I will gladly be watching.
That was Courtney’s old Jeep. She mentioned it in one of their videos a long time ago. But wouldn’t be surprised to see more awesome builds in the future.
Maybe fabricate a large wide spiral staircase with a roof ( roof for shade and weather protection and possibly consider closing it in partially with a woo or metal skin and handrails for the deck and around the office chimney. Remember Oliver will be sneaking off to climb things around home and you want to make everything as safe as possible , because every parent, no matter how careful and attentive loses track of an exploring toddler for a few seconds now and then. ) for easy access to your container shed rooftop deck.
Thanks for the recap. I have been loving your journey since you were in the overlander. I can not thank you enough for all the joy of watching you two ( now three!) solve problems and build an independent life. I am going to try to find the time to rewatch the last three years. What a great trip it has been!
I'm pretty sure I said this on last week's video but that solar roof on deck can be good. Tie inverter plugged into your power system and your inverters out in the power container can be set up to charge when there's excess power in the system to help add a little bit more power during the winter. Even though those panels probably won't catch a whole lot of sun, it'll add a little bit to help you extend your time between generator run times with a cheap used good tire inverter
I agree 100% with the majority of the comments, that this is a GREAT recap of all your structures, infrastructure and property. I once thought that the main shop/apartment(which was great) was grandest, but building the NEW road/driveway up the mountain was UNREAL ! You guys just keep blowing my mind with all of your cool & amazing projects.
Watching the evolution of your home and family, I am inspired and happy to see that people like you are carrying on the traditions that made this country great. How about a Planta Sungrow greenhouse? We have one and it is wonderful!

- Using the ski lift chair as a couples swing on the rooftop deck or maybe use that as a way to get to the top of the deck
- fix the hole in the office floor
- permanent water solution (filtration, etc.)
- a wall on the back side of the container storage
Looks like garage flooring next to desk... garage floor incoming? Jeep Wagoner maybe? Enclose deck to expand living space? Loose and missing screws on electrical switch plates.
Well I think I found two eggs.... First the SXS under the deck and second the chair lift leaning on the shed... But no clue what you'd do with it!!! The SXS will be MUCH better than the 8x8 !
I’ve been a sub for several years, when you were still in your camper. I’m awed by what you’ve accomplished. You both amaze me by your knowledge of well…everything!
Ditto. Well said. Utterly amazing. Deserving of every subscriber and sponsor!
My wife and I use that same baby tent when we travel with our son. It works great and has been a real lifesaver.
Your home is really well done. Build something that Oliver can grow into
The chair lift will be a great project.
God bless. 🙏
A two post lift in the shop would be an amazing addition!
A 4 poster would be even better.@@AmbitionStrikes
@AmbitionStrikes I see a challenger lift in your future 😂
The clearing is where you are going to build your new home? 😊 you could maybe make Courtney’s office into Oliver’s bedroom. You have a new side by side and a road sander you have plans for them
I love watching you both build all these things from scratch! Great job you two!
You are a very lucky fellow Riley, you found the one in a million amazing lady who worships the ground you walk on👍👍👍👍👍keep her happy!!!
I don’t care as much what you build next as when you start. Love all of your projects! They are well thought out and well done. 👍🏻
Water system from the shallow well, another room for Oliver, stairs for the rooftop deck & cover the hole in the floor!
What are your plans for Oliver's sleeping area when he outgrows the tent.
Awesome recap of your journey. The first Easter egg is at the beginning of the video where Courtney is standing on clear land say welcome to our home.
A simple project that will improve your life is a off grid sauna for those cold winter days.
What a small world! We miss that truck camper often but are so glad that it went to a great home.
Project suggestion: Root cellar.
It appears you have everything else covered.
Love the BIGFOOT Weather Vane. ❤️🥰
You're going to eventually have to expand and add another room or two for Oliver and whatever other kiddo down the road.
The "Pack" sign is from a few episodes ago, when VanWives helped to put the roof on the container shed.
A few trials would be cool. You got 20 ac. to rome, seen a few of the old homesteads that are there.
I think a cool project would be a man powered elevator to access your deck.. old school it with counter weights
Excellent idea!
An alternative:
You need a secret hideaway, a secret cave to retreat to, of course with a pool, halfway in and out…
But if you need a small(er) project…
Oliver needs a place to play. So some nice playground equipment would be nice to be able to have his own playground. Together with a relaxing bench so you can sit next to him…
I like the wood stove addition to the shop.
I love watching what you guys are doing and seeing the location that you are in is even more spectacular. Thanks for sharing.
That foot pedal is a ripper idea!!!
Nice video to celebrate your hard work. It has been fun to watch you turn this property into your year round home. And, by the way you had a baby too. Thank you so much for taking the time to record and share your life with us.
I absolutely love that foot pedal!
Totally stealing that idea!
"I have a passion for building and making."
No I would have never guessed
You have turned some rough terrain into paradise, you guys are extraordinarily talented.
It won't take long for your son to outgrow that tent. An extension with room for him, and any siblings that may come along in the future, is a must
I think you three deserve a full size home..
💕Design & build a bedroom for Oliver💕You could add an extension onto your existing property & make two bedrooms instead of one for Oliver & another for guests like grandparents💕
Thanks, guys, for taking us on this amazing journey. Y'all continue to amaze me. Keep on keeping on.
I love your music and editing.
Courtney & Riley,
What an amazing journey it has been.
The fittings and fixtures you made are amazing, truly beautiful!
Love your channels.
Zipline. Go crazy with that concept. Enjoy
Thank you for sharing your journey with us, it is an inspiration to us all.
I love what you two have accomplished. I was looking forward to the house tour, and love it. 😊 Your little guy is precious and it'll be cool when you add on to the house to give him his own space. I can't wait to see what you have in mind you two. Looking forward to next week. 😊❤
진짜 대단한 부부다 이 멋진 집을 직접 짓다니🎉🎉🎉 큰 박수를 보냅니다👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇰🇷❤️❤️❤️
That yellow Meyer attachment @ 14:47 is that for salt or sand maybe? For the skidsteer or the truck? Exciting! 😊
😉
an interesting and relaxing video, though I did play it back at 75% speed to allow my less than perfect hearing time to catch up.
Looks like an early Jeep or Jeepster grill?
That was Courtney’s old Jeep. She mentioned it in one of their videos a long time ago. But wouldn’t be surprised to see more awesome builds in the future.
New watchers should definitely go check out the older vids especially around the road construction
It's amazing what you two have created there.
Wait, I figured it out: you are building a new 3 bedroom, stand-alone cabin home next spring, aren't you?
I agree 100% with the majority of the comments, that this is a GREAT recap of all your structures, infrastructure and property.
I once thought that the main shop/apartment(which was great) was grandest, but building the NEW road/driveway up the mountain was UNREAL !
You guys just keep blowing my mind with all of your cool & amazing projects.
You guys did a great job! thanks for sharing.
Watching the evolution of your home and family, I am inspired and happy to see that people like you are carrying on the traditions that made this country great. How about a Planta Sungrow greenhouse? We have one and it is wonderful!
Watching Courtney go up the tall ladder, I can see how Riley beat his fear of heights. Beautiful property, beautiful family, it does look like a dream.
creeeeeeeper
