I was sick of Leonard and Penny after S3, honestly. They were trying way too hard to put them together. I didn't like the way it was written, especially with Penny constantly going back and forth. Even when she was with him, she mostly complained about his habits, but she never minded letting him pay for everything, right?
This show is filled with awful couples. Let's not pretend like Leonard is innocent in this. He has nothing in common with Penny and only did what he did for her because she's insanely hot. It was a transaction on both ends, so let's not pretend like Penny is the only one in the wrong here.
This show has some funny lines, but did an awful job with character development and just let a couple losers get insanely hot wives because of plot convenience. There is no reason Bernadette or Penny should ever have settled for Howard and Leonard, but the writers decided to feed into the incel dream instead of writing characters who actually improve themselves or learn how to have a platonic relationship with women.
@@TheMilapMehta I'm not saying Leonard was any better with his low self esteem issues. I'd say calling them "losers" is out of line, though. They both had decent careers, despite the personality flaws. Plus, Howard and Sheldon really did the most growing on the show. Honestly though, the show was very generic once they all had relationships.
Penny was the typical b***h who's only traits were sex and alcohol, Leonard was an inocent geeky guy desperate for female approval, I never bought the couple, nowadays people could call it "toxic"

Not gonna lie - Penny’s complaints about Leonard sound more like things Sheldon or Howard would do…
I mean the freaking out about needles on the beach screams Sheldon! The “breast friends” joke is something you can practically hear in Howard’s voice - especially pre-Bernie/married Howard.
I always felt that she was more pulling out whatever just for the sake of venting or having something to vent about when it comes to Leonard, but outside of his insecurities, shyness, and people pleasing to avoid conflict there’s not much to complain about. 🤷♀️ It was those traits that sunk his previous relationship or turned off girls who were interested.
