I could see some of the disappointment in your eyes, but I appreciate that you didn't have to swear about it. I have been watching Rhinebeck (Wool and Folk) Weekend videos all week and they have been very difficult to watch. Yours has been the best Rhinebeck Recap video!

I live in Oregon and it's highly unlikely I'll ever do what needs to be done to attend these events on the other side of the country, but I really appreciate just being able to see some of what it looks like. Hi Michael! I was only there on Sunday. I was hoping to meet you, but alas, it didn't happen. I live in CT, like Kevin, Ray and the Knitting Posse.......I'm glad you had a great time. I've stayed over a couple of times, but not for several years......I love Murky Depths! One of my local yarn shops was a stockist, but the store was sold and I don't think they stock it any more. Yes that next morning back to reality can be a killer. I had taken a personal day on Monday, as my kitten was being neutered....

Met you at Montreal Knit City and then, was so pleased to spend a moment with you at Wool & Folk in Catskill. You are so genuinely nice and easy to talk to. Really admired your restraint and enthusiasm in retelling your experiences. Sounds like you had some very memorable events, mostly focusing on your time with the people. I also get such a charge from being in the swirl of yarn enthusiasm! All the colors, patterns, textures…. And then chatting with people. Looking forward to Fiber Fest of New England next weekend. My favorite fest of them all - tons of vendors and animals and knits, but on a smaller, more manageable scale. (Doesn’t hurt that Webs is right down the road!) Thanks for the great footage and recap!

So happy to bring you a little taste of the festival. The sheep are the best part. Its funny you say that, as we walked past the sheep you whispered to them, " Thanks for all you do for us." Now to get that rest. Hope to see you for the next episode.
Your videos of the events are awesome I would love to meet you one day at a yarn event there but since I live in Australia not sure but here’s hoping 🤞 . SO happy to hear you enjoyed coming along with me on this little adventure. Also happy to hear you enjoyed the music selection as well. Who knows, I may come down under one day and it would be wonderful to meet new friends there. As for the sock machine, I doubt I would get one. They are a little to expensive for me but I did enjoy playing with Kevin and Rays for the weekend.

I was almost trampled at the 4H gate by people trying to rush in and 9. It definitely had a walmart on black Friday vibe. Not what I would have expected from our community. People, it's yarn. Not worth huting someone over!
I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing is worth all that. All these places have websites and it can be shipped to you. Please treat people with kindness and respect.

Awe, yay I'm happy you enjoyed the recap. I'm really trying to enjoy my time and be present so care free is the easiest way to do that for in my opinion. I too hope we have a chance to cross paths again at a fest soon.

I am not a shopper, but I can always manage to buy yarn if in good company (or in secret online of course, which does not count as shopping!). I have serious sock machine envy...but my gosh the price of one is more than I paid for my car! I know what you mean about the sock machine, it was nice getting the chance to use one while I could as ill never have one of my own. That's fine by me though. Here's to Rhinebeck 2024! This was my first Rhinebeck. I think I was a little overwhelmed. I looked at the vendor list, knew who I wanted to shop with and where they were located. Once I got there, my plan went out the window. I was all over the place. I felt like Kate Bush "Running up that road...Running up that hill". The footage that you took in the barns, I didn't even see those vendors.
😂😂 That’s very much the vibe for your first time going. Or at least I was the same way last year for my first time too. Happy to see some of the vendors you may have missed. I hope you had a wonderful first time experiencing it all. 😁

I enjoyed your recap. I doubt I will ever get to Rhinebeck so I live it through you! I love how you genuinely captured the festivals without negativity. We don't need that. I stopped your video and bought a bag from Beautiful Syster! I have made several acquisitions from the festivals online! I got lots of things but didn't get wet 🤣! Now I have to wait for delivery! Yes, do it all over again and again and again! I look forward to our time together ❤️🧶❤️!

I just read all of the comments and it so sad other podcasts are complaining about it. For some of us, it would be a dream just to attend. I live all the way in California. Financially and logistically, I would have to plan way in advance. My husband would have to put in vacation time at least a year in advance. He works for FedEx and peak season is just around the corner.
Sometimes its easy for us to dwell on the negative. I understand that some of it was bad, obviously those who vended and were sponsors and those living with a disability should be pissed, but there was a lot that could be spun in a more positive direction. I guess I was fortunate to have the group of people I did to get me/us through it.

We used an Erlbacher Knitting Machine.
Omg! Talk about yarn porn! The sheep were too stinking cute. I can tell if I ever go to Rhinebeck, I would need an extra suitcase.
The sheep are so so so cute and I loving going over to see them. The extra suitcase is something I didn't do this year. I really should have thought because having to people sit on it to close it coming back was not the move.

Thank you for the footage. And for your obvious disappointment with the way Wool + Folk (wtf) was "organized". I was very disappointed to see, in your footage how some vendors took up extra space, bumping folks who paid the same money outside. Now I know who NOT to buy from.
Thanks so much for checking out the recap. While there were downs there were very many highs.
Please make sure you support all the vendors you can. Those that were pushed outside was not to the fault of the other vendors inside. The organizer promised everyone would be inside and then put them outside. There was never enough space for all to be indoors and it sounds like the organizers knew that from the beginning and still chose to move forward with that venue. Really sad and poor planning.
