My brother was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2019 and had a feeding tube put in when he could no longer swallow. The first ingredient was corn syrup. I fought so hard to get him on the organic feed. The insurance dietician treated me like I was stupid saying they have that to all their patients on feed tube. The insurance finally approved one week after he lost his battle to cancer. 😡 Shame on (Nestlé) and other companies for the garbage they sell to feeding tube patients

Very interesting. I am German, and i happened to have Heinz Tomato Ketchup in my fridge. On my label ist says that it is made from 174 g of tomatoes per 100 g ketchup, 50 % less sugar and 50% less salt than regular Heinz ketchup and the ingredients are tomatoes (174 g per 100 g of product, vinegar, sugar, salt , spices. Since we don't have the "serving sizes" on ours , only the kcal etc per 100 g I actually broke it down to the serving size indicated on yours, which is 1 tbsp (17 g), so here goes:
    Kcal:10,88
    fat: 0 g
    total carb: 2,94 g
    thereof sugar: 1,87 g
    protein: 0,238 g
    salt: 0,153 g
    Indeed a big difference.
Now on the breakfast cereals Germany looses out, we don't have all these sugary things. We have some, but very few (all american expats complain about it), we are more a "Müsli"-country, you can find so many variations of it (Müsli = granola). But mind you, many of them also have too much sugar (for Germany's standards, probably still less than American granola - I assume).
But like in the US, also in Germany and probably all of Europe we have grown more and more conscious about the ingredients, flavorings, colorings, sugar etc. I think it's a good thing.
    Very nice video!

They don't hold stock in back rooms, what you see on the shelves is all the stock there is and they recieve deliveries daily. Its timing is incredibly tight. It frees up prime retail space and let's them slash prices. The bagged salad you bought for dinner was probably still in the ground 24 hours before. It is good, but coronavirus showed its weakness. I moved back to the UK last year after 15 years in Chicago (ironically in Lakeview - on Oakdale - so I get homesick for Chicago & TJs whenever I see your older videos!) I downloaded your app when I lived there, so it shocked me how many things you warn about, we just don’t have in the UK. For example, when I moved back to Oxford, I kept looking for grass-fed/finished meat - only to realise almost all meat over here is grass-fed, which is why it’s not written on the labels. It’s the default. Same with chlorinated chicken and GMO. We literally don’t allow them here. I still have to look out for many dodgy ‘natural flavourings’, oils & preservatives, so your app is open constantly - but it’s sad to know the FDA isn’t protecting its own citizens. Glad to know you are, though... :)

Now I finally understand. Growing up in Germany Fanta was my absolute favorite drink in the world then I moved to the states and at first I didn’t even recognize the Fanta I wondered why the Fanta in Europe was a light yellow color but here it’s this dark orange color and it tastes horrible here compared to the European version so now I know it’s because the European one had natural color hence why it was so light and here it has artificial color hence why it’s so dark and the other huge difference obviously that I did know about before is that over there it’s made with sugar here it’s made with high fructose corn syrup. On the very rare occasion I drink soda these days it’s only if it’s the pepsi made with “real sugar” it’s so sad that here it has to be a selling point to say it’s made with “real sugar”. So the end result of the American Fanta being so much more synthetic is that it tastes nowhere near as good as its European counterpart which is nowhere near as synthetic.

Most Americans don't care about what they consume. Thankfully I care about what I consume and none of the things in this video are things that I consume anyways.

I used to mix ingredients for pet food and used dye #’s whatever. When I took a shower after work, the water would turn bright reds and yellows, just from the dust that would settle on me.

The problem of the USA is how lobbyists are allowed to put pressure and bribe congressmans and then stop the FDA from doing their job.
Lobbying has its limit in Europe and the food agencies do their job.
It’s time for the American customers to ask for a return on their tax money and demand the FDA and USDA to do what they supposed to do

I wish you talked about MSG and its derivatives such as disodium inosinate. In my twenties I started developing extreme migraines to the point where I was paralyzed on one side of my body and it was very scary. I'd never had migraines before. When I explain this problem to a friend he said that a friend of his had the same problem which came from MSG. I realize that all of the episodes I had or following eating Asian food which likely had contained MSG. I started to avoid eating MSG and preparing certain foods that have MSG with alternative ingredients at home. But, I was still getting the same reactions. I finally started looking at the labels and researching what was in the products I was using and one of those included disodium inosinate. At the time of doing this research about 20 years ago I found out that these substances were banned in other countries because they created a lot of problems for people. These substances are neurotransmitters and are bad news. I noticed that they were in canned vegetables, soups, and basically anything savory at the grocery store. It was horrifying to me that MSG was being masqueraded as another substance and added to practically everything. I know that fewer restaurants now use MSG and I've noticed disodium inosinate used less in processed and other Foods. However they're in hundreds if not thousands of products in the grocery store and maybe affecting people in ways that they are not aware of. I have yet to see anybody address this, and would love to see perhaps even entire episode devoted to this because it is a big problem and needs to be exposed.

This is a fantastic video! I’m from Switzerland and married to an American, so I’m familiar with the differences between American food versus European food standards. As a follower and promoter of the keto lifestyle myself, I try to educate people on the benefits of cooking and eating whole foods with a minimum of chemicals, which is crucial to body health, brain health, and overall psychological and emotional well-being. You are doing a tremendous service to humanity! Many thanks. 👍👍

In Australia we cannot buy cough syrup unless we get it from chemist. It's not freely available on shelves.

The whole question of cane sugar vs. corn syrup is a complicated one. Yes, from a health perspective, cane sugar is the lesser of two evils. On the other hand, cane sugar farming has historically been tied to horrific rates of human exploitation and slavery. By contrast, corn is a common North American agricultural product. How ethical is cane sugar today?
