Very interesting. I am German, and i happened to have Heinz Tomato Ketchup in my fridge. On my label ist says that it is made from 174 g of tomatoes per 100 g ketchup, 50 % less sugar and 50% less salt than regular Heinz ketchup and the ingredients are tomatoes (174 g per 100 g of product, vinegar, sugar, salt , spices. Since we don't have the "serving sizes" on ours , only the kcal etc per 100 g I actually broke it down to the serving size indicated on yours, which is 1 tbsp (17 g), so here goes: Kcal:10,88 fat: 0 g total carb: 2,94 g thereof sugar: 1,87 g protein: 0,238 g salt: 0,153 g Indeed a big difference. Now on the breakfast cereals Germany looses out, we don't have all these sugary things. We have some, but very few (all american expats complain about it), we are more a "Müsli"-country, you can find so many variations of it (Müsli = granola). But mind you, many of them also have too much sugar (for Germany's standards, probably still less than American granola - I assume). But like in the US, also in Germany and probably all of Europe we have grown more and more conscious about the ingredients, flavorings, colorings, sugar etc. I think it's a good thing. Very nice video!
I moved to Japan 10 yrs ago and foods don't have artificial colors!!! No red cakes, no candy that make your tongue blue, it's rare to see colorful sprinkles but they're made with natural colors!
I moved from the UK to the US 30 years ago and was so shocked at the inferior food in the US. It seemed like everything in a packet, jar or bottle was adulterated. Full of artificial ingredients. European foods are much better.
@@lindaeasley5606 actually she's right, the UK supermarkets work on a different model to many other countries. They don't hold stock in back rooms, what you see on the shelves is all the stock there is and they recieve deliveries daily. Its timing is incredibly tight. It frees up prime retail space and let's them slash prices. The bagged salad you bought for dinner was probably still in the ground 24 hours before. It is good, but coronavirus showed its weakness. Unplanned runs on stock can cause it to crumble but all in all, it works.

I made the shift decades ago when my friend had to take me for groceries. He looked around and said "I don't see any food here." Even big brand chocolate bars sold in "2nd world" countries were so rich and satisfying, unlike the crap they sell to the USA. I honestly think the US gets the waste products after they make the good stuff for countries who won't buy inferior products, ie beer, chocolate etc. Even Ikea USA has cheaper-made, lower quality (flimsy) furniture than in Europe. I mentioned this to an IKEA worker last week who was from Eastern Europe and she said it was absolutely true. Our government needs to protect the US people.
That is really sad that is happening. Maybe time to leave the US. But I think we can still find quality food and items. We just have to boycott these inferior items
No I lived in Europe for years. YES I PREFER THEIR FOODS GENERALLY BUT they are inundated with islam and I prefer to be free. They took down gorgeous Christmas decorations because they ''offended muslims''. Who fought for Europe In WW2? LIFE IS MORE THAN FOOD.
As a Swede it's really weird to see the difference in product quality at IKEA in the USA. I got a bed from there a decade ago that I could pass on to eventual kids. I wish they'd stop flying our flag over such shitty products.
Very true. America sells garbage and dangerous ingredients and chemicals to their own people. I was born and raised in Europe and during the first few years after I moved to the US I was shocked to find out how bad the food here is and I was struggling seriously with stomach cramps, discomfort, bloating, digestive problems, nausea. It took years for my body to get used to the food in America. I try to eat healthy but I don’t feel healthy at the same time.
This is so true. People in America should know that things that they sell you in the stores some or most things are banned in Europe or even in Canada. Be careful.
Big food has bribed the FDA into allowing cheaper ingredients. The FDA is corrupt and cares NOTHING for your health, allowing food dyes, toxic preservatives, sugars, alcohol, and tobacco to (1) make you addicted to junk food for more profits and (2) make you sick for the medical and big pharmaceutical companies to treat you! Go Keto or Carnivore and eat whole single ingredient foods to be TRULY healthy!
This is so true. I have noticed that every time I’m in Europe, I eat various foods including pastries and I’m fine but when I eat similar foods here my body doesn’t react the same way and sweets….I just smell them here and gain 20 lbs!!! We use way too many preservatives and chemicals in our food here in the US. Very different overseas

I live in Germany and when I saw that Coke bottle I frantically checked my little Coke bottle next to me and was glad relived to see that it uses Sugar instead of Corn Syrup. One thing that I noticed when my brother brought candies from his trips to the US is, that sweets are a LOT sweeter than what we are used to here in Germany. I have a sweet tooth but when I ate American chocolate I could really taste nothing but sugar and some odd flavoring, I think it was Hershey's, it really didn't taste anything like the chocolate I'm used to. That is not to say that I've such a perfekt diet, I'm just slowly beginning to eat smarter and I just started pretty recently to do so.

Interestingly, for artificial colors, the opposite happened with Irn-Bru from Scotland. They couldn't export it to the states because of a couple controversial dyes, one of which is "Ponceau 4R." Thanks for raising this important issue Bobby. I moved back to the UK last year after 15 years in Chicago (ironically in Lakeview - on Oakdale - so I get homesick for Chicago & TJs whenever I see your older videos!) I downloaded your app when I lived there, so it shocked me how many things you warn about, we just don’t have in the UK. For example, when I moved back to Oxford, I kept looking for grass-fed/finished meat - only to realise almost all meat over here is grass-fed, which is why it’s not written on the labels. It’s the default. Same with chlorinated chicken and GMO. We literally don’t allow them here. I still have to look out for many dodgy ‘natural flavourings’, oils & preservatives, so your app is open constantly - but it’s sad to know the FDA isn’t protecting its own citizens. Glad to know you are, though... :)
Now I finally understand. Growing up in Germany Fanta was my absolute favorite drink in the world then I moved to the states and at first I didn’t even recognize the Fanta I wondered why the Fanta in Europe was a light yellow color but here it’s this dark orange color and it tastes horrible here compared to the European version so now I know it’s because the European one had natural color hence why it was so light and here it has artificial color hence why it’s so dark and the other huge difference obviously that I did know about before is that over there it’s made with sugar here it’s made with high fructose corn syrup. On the very rare occasion I drink soda these days it’s only if it’s the pepsi made with “real sugar” it’s so sad that here it has to be a selling point to say it’s made with “real sugar”. So the end result of the American Fanta being so much more synthetic is that it tastes nowhere near as good as its European counterpart which is nowhere near as synthetic.
BHA and BHT were banned in the 70s. I remember. I dont know when that changed. They also banned a certain red dye in the 70s or 80s. That was in red M&Ms etc. In the 70s I knew that. Hydrogenated palm kernal oil was bad and I thought they did away with most of it but it is still in tons of processed food especially at the dollar stores.

The food coloring is very noticable in children. My son wasn't allowed candy until he was older. The first time he ate red licorice he projectile vomited, then I noticed that when he had a red freezy he became very difficult he was usually a very easy-going Sweet child but when he ate the red freezy he was angry and difficult from that point forward I only let him have the clear freezies and have warned other parents about the red dye. Red dye can be the cause of behavioral issues in children.

About 10 years ago in Finland they didn't sell cherry or vanilla coke regularly on the finnish stores. In some stores we had the "american section" of foods that were imported from the USA, with the original ingredients. Once I bought a vanilla coke from the US section and it took me less than 10 minutes to have a really upset stomach after drinking it. I'm sure it was because of those additional colors and flavorings.

The problem of the USA is how lobbyists are allowed to put pressure and bribe congressmans and then stop the FDA from doing their job. Lobbying has its limit in Europe and the food agencies do their job. It’s time for the American customers to ask for a return on their tax money and demand the FDA and USDA to do what they supposed to do
I wish you talked about MSG and its derivatives such as disodium inosinate. In my twenties I started developing extreme migraines to the point where I was paralyzed on one side of my body and it was very scary. I'd never had migraines before. When I explain this problem to a friend he said that a friend of his had the same problem which came from MSG. I realize that all of the episodes I had or following eating Asian food which likely had contained MSG. I started to avoid eating MSG and preparing certain foods that have MSG with alternative ingredients at home. But, I was still getting the same reactions. I finally started looking at the labels and researching what was in the products I was using and one of those included disodium inosinate. At the time of doing this research about 20 years ago I found out that these substances were banned in other countries because they created a lot of problems for people. These substances are neurotransmitters and are bad news. I noticed that they were in canned vegetables, soups, and basically anything savory at the grocery store. It was horrifying to me that MSG was being masqueraded as another substance and added to practically everything. I know that fewer restaurants now use MSG and I've noticed disodium inosinate used less in processed and other Foods. However they're in hundreds if not thousands of products in the grocery store and maybe affecting people in ways that they are not aware of. I have yet to see anybody address this, and would love to see perhaps even entire episode devoted to this because it is a big problem and needs to be exposed.

The whole question of cane sugar vs. corn syrup is a complicated one. Yes, from a health perspective, cane sugar is the lesser of two evils. I live in the UK, I think because we have the Universal Healthcare system, if people get sick, it will be the government to shoulder the cost so definitely prevention is better than cure, whereas in the US if the people become sick, its thier problem and business for the Healthcare & pharmaceutical sector.
People who are low income are on Medicaid and our seniors are on Medicare both government paid.
It's also business for the weight loss industry.
Since we don't have the "serving sizes" on ours , only the kcal etc per 100 g I actually broke it down to the serving size indicated on yours, which is 1 tbsp (17 g), so here goes:
Kcal:10,88
fat: 0 g
total carb: 2,94 g
thereof sugar: 1,87 g
protein: 0,238 g
salt: 0,153 g
Indeed a big difference.

@Hopper33 produce has very short shelf life so it doesn't sit around for months . Over exaggerating
@@lindaeasley5606 actually she's right, the UK supermarkets work on a different model to many other countries. They don't hold stock in back rooms, what you see on the shelves is all the stock there is and they recieve deliveries daily. Its timing is incredibly tight. Thanks for raising this important issue Bobby.
We need to start a petition to ban these bad ingredients Bobby.
BHA and BHT were banned in the 70s. I remember. I dont know when that changed. They also banned a certain red dye in the 70s or 80s. That was in red M&Ms etc. In the 70s I knew that. Once I bought a vanilla coke from the US section and it took me less than 10 minutes to have a really upset stomach after drinking it. I'm sure it was because of those additional colors and flavorings.
I don’t understand why this video hasn’t gone viral.
Consider sharing with friends and family! : )
Because "they" control what goes viral.
Most Americans don't care about what they consume. Thankfully I care about what I consume and none of the things in this video are things that I consume anyways.
I used to mix ingredients for pet food and used dye #’s whatever. When I took a shower after work, the water would turn bright reds and yellows, just from the dust that would settle on me.
😮😢
Awesome, love your videos! I think bvo is what musta caused my hypothyroidism, I used to drink a lot of mountain due growing up! Wow wish I had these videos when I was younger. Great job on these videos a real help for the public! God bless you
The problem of the USA is how lobbyists are allowed to put pressure and bribe congressmans and then stop the FDA from doing their job.
Lobbying has its limit in Europe and the food agencies do their job.
It’s time for the American customers to ask for a return on their tax money and demand the FDA and USDA to do what they supposed to do
How outrageous, people putting money before other's health. 😡
This is a fantastic video! I’m from Switzerland and married to an American, so I’m familiar with the differences between American food versus European food standards. As a follower and promoter of the keto lifestyle myself, I try to educate people on the benefits of cooking and eating whole foods with a minimum of chemicals, which is crucial to body health, brain health, and overall psychological and emotional well-being. You are doing a tremendous service to humanity! Many thanks. 👍👍
In Australia we cannot buy cough syrup unless we get it from chemist. It's not freely available on shelves.
The whole question of cane sugar vs. corn syrup is a complicated one. Yes, from a health perspective, cane sugar is the lesser of two evils. On the other hand, cane sugar farming has historically been tied to horrific rates of human exploitation and slavery. By contrast, corn is a common North American agricultural product. How ethical is cane sugar today?
They must be hiding all the slaves in the factory farm barns, because buying a harvester machine cut down on profits.
@@alexandriamaguire8224 human trafficking and enslavement in sugar production outside the USA is not a hidden problem. It is there for anyone who cares to know about it.
