    What's with the fireworks? Not needed for anything Queen ever did! This song is unbelievably awesome and he pours himself into every performance. You know a performance is spectacular when you get chills no matter how many times you hear it!

    Queen rarely block, so the fireworks aren’t necessary and just detract from a sublimely beautiful performance. Thanks though, this one is my absolute favourite

    If you're worried about copyright issues, just pause a few times during the video and comment (which you are already doing). Queen are one of the few bands that don't block their videos. You're doing a great job, it's just that the fireworks can be a little distracting at times. 😉

    It amazes me that the guys were all in their mid to late 20's when they were performing music at this amazing level! When l think of where l was in my life at that age, l feel like such an underachiever!

    Brian wrote this song about a blind girl he fell in love with, but was too shy to approach her. Listening to White Queen with that in mind gives insight into the lyrics.
    Brian is a poet. And what you said is true, Freddie knows how to sell the voice, his coloring, enunciation, and timing is masterful. Flawless. Plus he pours his soul into every word he sings. White Queen is one of the few songs that is dramatically better live. The back and forth between the piano and the guitar, Freddie and Brian is only on the live version. It’s all guitar in the studio version. Watch Freddie’s hands when he plays. It’s like he is possessed. It’s such a sight to behold.
    Love you Freddie!

    Freddy was a perfectionist the band fought a lot trying to get the music just perfect they all wrote hit songs which you will never see in another band or very rarely that's one of the reason you'll see so many varieties of their music pretty actually sing opera with with a lady named Montserrat Caballo not spelled correctly sorry in 1991 it was supposed to be performed at the Olympic Games in Barcelona but he passed before they can do it but they played it anyway it's absolutely amazing you will love it. Its called barcelona. Freddie Roach all the lyrics and everything to do with it including hers and told her how he wanted her to sing it

    This has to be my favorite Queen song if it is even possible to make such a statement. Freddie's vocal is perfection and the instrumental section is off the charts great. That guitar solo with the piano providing the melody is, simply put, magic. Thank you for reacting to this absolutely beautiful song, one that most people have never even heard or heard of unless you are a Queenie.

  • @bethford6007
    @bethford6007 3 роки тому +2

    Freddie empties his lung reserve with the 'oh' at the end of lines such as "she cannot see" most singers don't use their reserve let alone use it with a note in a song.
    Holding notes like you said.... most singers who cover his songs cannot do that or choose the fluctuate up and down (maybe they can't sustain it) but it takes away from the song when they do that.
    His piano work. This one in particular really shows how Freddie brought classical music into a rock song! He looks like Mozart and I can imagine him performing just this piano portion to an audience that have never been to a rock concert and it would be a standing ovation!

    Yes, the studio version is very good! I like this live version better! I've not seen this 'fireworks' overlay on this particular video before. a bit distracting, but not bad. Freddie's vocals were so, so good. Delivery is amazing. And when Brian gets his guitar to sing with Freddie's piano in that musical interlude. PERFECTION. Thanks for commenting!

    Hello Liite Reacts!! Great song & great reaction!! Trust me the Queen subs will never steer you wrong! This song was written by Brian May about unrequited love in college. Brian admired this a pale skinned, long haired girl from afar but was too nervous to approach. From what I learned this girl was also blind! If you read the lyrics Brian describes this girl as the White Queen in a very Tolkien vibe way! I’ve always imagined her in a flowing white dress, barefoot & with long hair slightly moving in the breeze! “The white Queen walks and the night grows pale .. Stars of lovingness in her hair .. Heeding unheard pleading one word. So sad my eyes she cannot see.” Haunting but gorgeous lyrics sung beautifully by Freddie!
    Now you gotta react to MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN written by Freddie!! 👑

      @hellsbells8689 Рік тому +1

      I don't fall in with the she was blind thing. She cannot see... was her not seeing how in love he was with her. More a poetic turn of phrase than taken too literally.

    The Studio version is really nothing like this and also can't compare, this live version is just too great, Freddie doing a Piano solo while Brian a guitar solo (wish the camera also zoomed onto Brian instead of just Freddie) and the Drums and Bass supporting the solos. Brian May really wrote a masterpiece here (everyone in the band wrote music not just Freddie). Freddie is really an insane Piano player, he himself didn't think he was that good at it but no he was just mind blowing. So much emotions

    • @barbaramendoza2202

      The cameras always seemed to focus on Freddie. Not only was Freddie a legendary voice, but he was charismatic as well. For that reason, Freddie would stand by different band members to lure the cameras to them. (He didn’t do that with John Deacon, John was shy of the spotlight.)

The sad thing is that Brian was too shy to even speak to her for a very very long time. This live performance is awesome! No Autotune, just sheer talent!! Remember that MTV didn't hit tv till 1981 so a lot of songs from the 70's and back are more likely to have live stage or tv performances than to have official music videos. Some made videos for those songs after MTV was on air but a lot didn't bother doing it for songs that they put out before 1981.

    Freddie was wonderful. I still remember hearing when he died from AIDS back in 1991. During the Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium, it was said he was very ill. of course to Freddie the show must go on. He had a bad sore on his right foot and a visible Kaposi's sarcoma lesion on the back right biceps under the armband he wore. Nothing slowed him down. We love him, even more, today and his voice. Liite, please watch the movie Bohemian Rhapsody. It's not 100% accurate but a lot of it is.

    Yes Freddie of course is absolutely amazing but this performance really showcases the whole band who each deserve recognition. Brian’s guitar is hauntingly beautiful to bring out the sorrow of this song. Roger’s drums add just the right amount of dramatic flair to enhance the story and John’s bass holds the whole thing together as Deacy always does. All together we get sucked in to this beautiful story. The instrumental section of the four of them gives me chills every time.

    Queen were masters of both the studio and live performances, but the studio stuff and the live stuff are different animals. The live stuff is great, but their studio stuff is unsurpassed in many ways. The first 5 studio albums are all worth listening to all the way through. My favorite is Queen2, which ‘White Queen’ is from. I listened to Queen studio albums from 1974 until 1979 when their first live album came out. If you listen to nothing else, hear ‘March of the Black Queen’ from Queen 2...a guaranteed mind-blower.

    Freddie Mercury (Queen) is a great place [maybe the best place] to get into 70s - 80s vocals. For your next step into the best OLD SCHOOL vocals you should try Steve Perry (Journey) or Anne Wilson (Heart). These three are the pinnacle of great rock voices, and that's not to denigrate any of the others it's just these are some of the best.

    An emotional experience for me was the first time I saw the video for the tribute song for Freddie Mercury written by Queen guitarist Brain May and drummer Roger Taylor. Freddie died in 1991 and the remaining members of Queen recorded the song and video for “No One But You” in 1997. I don’t know why I never saw this video until 1919 but it was a found treasure for me when I first viewed it. IMO the studio version is by far the best. It was so enjoyable to see your first reaction to Freddie’s God given voice. It’s amazing and got better with time. He never had a voice lesson or a vocal coach. He taught himself breath control etc. He is the Human autotune. Please comeback and do the live version of Bohemian Rhapsody live in Montreal 1981 and the live version of Who Wants To Live Forever at Wembley 1986. Also, Save Me live in Montreal 1981. Love your reactions.

    I'm assuming you've watched the Live Aid performance by Queen, possibly the best live rock performance of all time. I grew up on Queen, so it's really fun to watch someone see it for the first time.

    Hard to get a true appreciation of the performance though a fireworks display!

    You're not the only one to really like this song. This is one of my very favorite Queen songs, and probably my favorite Brain May song. And this isn't even the best version of this song, IMO. That would go to White Queen, Live At The Rainbow (Sheer Heart Attack Tour) in November 1974. And my favorite studio version of White Queen is the Langham Studio version (there are two studio versions)...

    I have loved Queen since I was 10 years old, over 40 years now! I would love to see your reaction to Dimash Kudaibergen, this guy is known as the best male voice on the planet, you talk about lung capacity, this guy can sing a note through 6 octaves for 26 seconds & he sings in 12 languages & he's only 25! If you decide to give him a shot, try SOS first. @0T1Q
