at 8:00 if your window isn't insetting...check "boundary" once the pop up window appears. Mine stayed unchecked after the door inset adjustment to pop up window.

when you add loop cuts for the window and wanna scale it dont forget to hit x or y so it doesnt scale or chang the shape

If you cant intersect the window, select the boundary option which you disselected when intersecting door

Awesome!!! I am working on modeling the Ohio State Reformatory where Shawshank was filmed. It is only 3.6 miles from my house. Tried photogrammetry without much success as I can't photograph the entire perimeter. They built the new prison right behind the old one so access to the rear is limited. Drone flying is not an option for obvious reasons. I have the footprint of the facility laid out and rather than wasting days randomly trying to modify shapes I checked out a few videos and this is the one I saved to go back and forth and get the ball rolling!

8:13 - if you're trying to scale the size of the window frame but it's changing the entire shape of the window too, you may have Proportional Editing turned on. Press O to turn it off and you should be fine.

I actually had some problems in creating an opening in the house walls (minute 4.38 / 4.42) by letting the "Location" option uncheked in the Apply Object Trasnform menu, after choosing Rotation and Scale - as you did in the video tutorial.
After many attempt, I checked also "Location" and I finally managed to use the Boolean modifier to create an opening in the house walls.
I am a novice to Blender: can you please give me an explanation?

Not sure why I had to go outside with my mouse, but it worked nonetheless.
Instead of pressing alt + z you can select one face and hit a, this will select every face.

great tutorial extremely struggling with using boolean modifier in door and house part in 5:00 timestamp range
when I was insetting the door, turn off the 'boundary', threshold was not disappear?
incredible how many times i had to to go back a rewatch the most basic step like insetting a door or do i click off of the house fist or do i click while it is selected. the automated voice is very hard to understand when it seems to be sped up 1357827657365x
Question: where do i find the boolean?
I was struck, very long, at the part when I separated the roof. However, after I chose separation n went to object mode, the roof still stuck together with the bldg.
Gosh, trying to learn Blender when tutorials are "old" and use fairly older versions than your own sucks so much, hopefully this one will go smoothly for 3.6.2 users
for windows when i do the loop cut it puts a line before puting the 3 already how to u do it
At 02:00 the edges of your roof are perfect 90 degree angles. Mine doesn`t do that, they go more diagonally towards the bottom. Could you please explain how to solve this?
ctrl+ r doesnt work for me. and manually selecting loop cut doesnt do anything either. help

Dam i cant do it. whenever i try to apply cuts it just inlcudes the whole box instead of the window. Yes i did inset and entered face select but it doesn't work.
i leant more in 1.11 minutes of blenfder in this video than i did by watching 3 hours of other videos
When using loop cut on window. I can't scale the loops. Everytime I try to scale the loops the faces also distorts
After adding 2 cuts on the window when I try to scale down the entire window is getting squeezed, I don't understand how to do it without the window getting squashed inwards... Please help

Yes of course you can animate the door. Just separate the door. Extrude and give some thickness. Set the origin of the door to the hinge point. Finally, add rotation keyframes.

how did you move the door up in edit mode on 4:23 ?
When in edit mode press alt+s, also there is a button in edit mode tab which is called shrink/fatten :)

I had the same issue. What fixed it for me was changing the "Transform Pivot Point" from the top center selection above the viewport to "Median Point". Then I used "S" + "Y" and "Z" depending on the cut selected, and it scaled properly. I hope this helps!
