He is most probably going to reprise his role but the game is not finished yet. They do voice acting after the game is finished and I think after CP 2077, they are making 200% sure that the game is finished and runs without any problems :D Also If they replace him, the backlash will be even worse than Netflix series :D
@@Mrsnail44 idk about a remake, if they are making one it's gonna be outsourced which is shitty, because they are working on witcher 4 and a new cyberpunk, i don't see how you can fit another project, those 2 are immense.
Doug is the voice for 90% of Geralt's appearances in every place expect for Henry in the show and little Geralt in the Vesemir animated movie so it's pretty safe to assume that whenever Geralt will appear on screen he will be voiced by Doug. But in the case of the projects by CDPR it's a non-question.
@@Myhaay in regards to the potential remake, I believe that it would be outsourced primarily to Fool's Theory, and usually that isn't a good thing but people should remember that a sizeable amount of ex-CDPR devs actually moved on to Fool's Theory, which I think that warrants a little bit of cautious optimism. Also, I don't think we'll see a new Cyberpunk game for many years down the road. All sources that I've read say that Witcher 4 is in full production, don't think there are many resources at all being put into Cyberpunk 2/Orion.
Same principle with Video game developers. The Developers themselves arent at fault, theyre just doing what theyre told to do. Its the fatasses in the fancy chairs with their own offices ruining it.
Yeah but a lot of people are making fun of Liam being the new Geralt and dismissing him, saying Henry is the only person who could ever play the role. Which is frankly ridiculous lol. Either way the writing and the characterization is going to be bad, but I have faith in Liam delivering a good performance in spite of the material he'll be given.
@@4589dude To switch genres a bit, James Bond continued as a franchise despite main actor switch every couple of years, they made it work. I am more concerned about quality of writing, not actor choice, though I would prefer Henry simply for the sake of continuity.
It's not Liam who we're concerned about, it's the rest of the team who seem to hate the Witcher series. I'll never understand why they always need to hire people do these projects who don't care about the stuff they're making.
Even Liam is probably more passionate than the writers, but lets not pretend he could save what they've done. Hopefully ten or twenty years from now, someone tries again and does it justice.
I read somewhere that CDPR decided to work with a different studio for the 2nd game and re-cast all voice actors. Geralt included. He heard that from a friend of his who auditioned to voice Geralt, he texted the person who is responsible for voice actor casting saying if they want him he can come and since they didn't like others who auditoned, they called him back. Glad they did it would be horrible without him.
Doug Cockle's voice is so iconic no one else can voice Geralt for me, not even Doug Cockle, the new quest in the Next Gen update, you can tell it isn't 2016 Doug.
I love Doug's voice. And I love Geralt in all its forms (well I mean in the book, game and Netflix, there is one earlier Polish film I really don't like).
I can't wait to hear Doug redo his lines from Witcher 1. I mean he had the voice down, but he hadn't mastered his delivery yet, so I can't wait to see a more experienced Doug's take.

@@DemBigOlEyes No I am not and you're the one blocking people from enjoying the franchise. Butchering the Witcher community for the sake of ego and disrespecting. The TV and flim industry.
6:30 I respectfully disagree. What makes Geralt, Geralt is the fact that the life he led, the people he met build up his emotional character. The fact that he doesn't have any in Witcher 1 is perfect from story telling perspective because he's back at factory setting (magical plot devicey amnesia and all that) and you get to see him express more and more emotion through Witcher 2 and then culminating in Witcher 3, it makes for a fantastic character arc. Maybe not so good for character development in the confines of a singular game but amazing when considering all three parts of the trilogy as a whole.
Definitely not the fact. Geralt always uses the mutation and the myths about witchers as a crutch when he doesn’t want to seem vulnerable. This is 100% how he’s portrayed in the books
The first time I played the game I remember commenting to a friend "I'm just waiting for Geralt to say 'Make my day punk'" .... Nice to see Eastwood's Dirty Harry was a bit of an inspriration
People in general do not doubt Liam. They 1: Seriously, and with all the reasons in the world, doubt everyone that is actually deciding where the show goes. 2: It is jarring to have him just be there when we get to know the character as Henry. Someone brought up Bond, but those movies are very much stand alone stories. When the movie ends it is over. When a season of The Witcher ends, we are expecting them to pick up that same story the next season. If this was a new show about Geralt, people would be way more forgiving.
The English voice and the Russian(like let’s not be biased ok) voice are like sooo on point that I’m convinced had Geralt existed he’d sound as one of those. It’s a lil ironic how polish version (not just Geralt but the others to) almost mismatches the characters and the world , even tho it’s supposed to be medieval Poland (kinda)
The more I'm listening to you, Doug - the more I'm making myself sure your real voice, without any performance modulation fits Geralt as perfectly, as Jacek's voice. I don't know who was a director that did accept the actual performence you made. Don't get me wrong, you did wonderful job, but it just doesn't suit Geralt. It would suit batman. Geralt was usally talking like having no emotions in his voice, but it doesn't mean to half-whisp or just grunt while talking just like batman... I just simply LOVE your real, not modulated voice, heads up!
OHH FFS Geralt was always emotional...read the dam books ppl...he was EXTREMELY emotional....in the short stories before ciri he showed his emotions with actions...in the novels...well his emotions were VERY STRONGLY shown with Cahir...and others...wtf is up with this bs...it was PROPOGANDA
Fom all the versions of Witcher 3 English dub is the worst. Especially Geralt, he sounds like an edgy kid who tries too hard to sound mysterious and cool.
Thanks god we didnt do something similar to Doug's perfomance in russian version of Witcher... We have same actors, with the same voices, no big deal, but im glad - we didnt use them.
