I love how John is so skilled with guns that he doesn’t ask for a specific weapon, he just describes what he wants and the other bro’s like “hollup, I got one for ya.”
It also shows us that John had been out of the game a while. In the first film he relies on his own stockpile.
Now, he's across the world and needs to restock himself. He's wise enough to listen to the experts and take their advice with his input.
Its excellent storytelling without holding the viewers hand through it.

If we go by the slider phones everyone is carrying and conducting "business" with, the time period is the mid-2000s to 2010 latest. If he has been out of action long enough, before Viggo's son was born, he won't have known any model of Glocks other than the 17 or 18 or maybe 19

The information he received about the layout of the catacombs was what gave him the ultimate edge during the climatic firefight.
When payday 2 added the tactical menu to missions, the game got easier and Better, especially shadow raid. Because now you just didn't have the best gear, you had the best information.

I love that this scene gave us insight on how John Wick grew into legendary status. He had good connections and he treated everybody with respect and he was treated well in return.
Notice how the man with the detailed estate map and the key was the one who got paid the most? Really shows you that informations is indeed the most valued thing to an assassin.

I love this scene. Every part of it. But my favorite? When John asks for "dessert" and the sommelier's reaction. Nobody asks for dessert anymore, underworld or otherwise it seems. My only gripe is that he chooses an OTF knife instead of a fixed blade.
The OTF is better concealed but a fixed blade would be better overall for a fight. That's just my two cents though. I'm not gonna really argue over John Wick's preference.

@UnWarierMage He does use it at the end of his fight with Cassian, in the subway car. He leaves it in Cassian's chest so the wound won't bleed out and kill him. Professional courtesy. 😉
Other than the rifles and shotguns, everything he pays for is designed for him to not be noticed until he wants to be noticed. He doesn't want anything hindering him in the middle of the fight or in the event he has to run.
For the record I could easily beat John Wick in a knife fight. Just so you guys know.

Only just now realised how much value they put on the information, the maps got the most coins and a compliment because he provided 4 things, the original map of the state, the old map of the catacombs, the current blueprints for the building and the old keys.
Information to an assassin is gold. Theoretically, you could have 0 guns 0 body armour and take someone out by like a knife or your own hands if your information was on point such as finding out there's a secret passage way which allows you to enter the home of the assassin in and out 30min job. Guns and armour add to make it easier/manageable but it's a luxury end of the day. Information is the only necessity, separates you from an average guns blazing killer

I love the final exchange between the sommelier and Wick. They are both artisans in the craft, though in different aspects. Wick is the master craftsman, but loathes doing it. The sommelier knows Wick is about to make another masterpiece and is hyped about it, while Wick is reluctant, cause though a supreme artist he doesn't enjoy it.

Every actor that came together to make this scene did a flawlessly fantastic job in portraying they're professionalism to their disciplines and how they strive for the best which reinforced John Wick's job as he only goes to the best.

My favorite part of John Wick is his lack of words. He only says what’s needed. He doesn’t waste time with useless talking. He only asks for what he needs and speaks in codes. He truly is the perfect killer.

This is pretty much the most amazing montage scene I've ever seen in my life. I love how everybody knows exactly what they're doing and it's just absolutely perfect
So crazy to think that the sommelier has so many guns now. I still remember when he only sold the "Kitchen Gun".
Just to show how Mr. Wick knows his stuff, at the Tailor he asks for some specific variants in the cut:
- Social event means it can be in a casual cut and the fabric can be slightly more lightweight, stretchy and comfortable (linen, cotton, polycotton etc.) rather than the more refined but stiff cut and fabric (worsted wool, flannel, tweed etc.) used for formal suits
- Italian style suits tend to be more form-fitting and have less padding compared to British and American style suits, which, along with the more comfortable and stretchy fabric and cut, provide a larger range of motion possible.
- Two buttons instead of three on the jacket means it still looks good if unbuttoned, making it easier to access the concealed holster
- Tapered trousers, apart for the slightly more elegant air they provide even to casual suits, give a bit more room on the upper leg without looking baggy; again, greater range of motion
He's asking for all the things that would make the suit more comfortable when running and gunning, while still looking dapper enough as to not attract attention until it's strictly necessary
Hot damn, that is all kinds of cool, legit didn’t think it was that thorough.
You must be one of those special tailors that we saw in this scene.

Your name is Don patrono and you are talking about armour and guns hidden in suits . I would like to humbly avoid you.
My favorite thing about this scene is how knowledgeable, precise, and downright happy the Librarian, Tailor, and Somellier are. You can tell each one loves what they do and are the best at doing it.
And delighted to have a client that not only appriciates their work but respects their imput. There are so many other killers shown in this series that you know go in and just make demands.
Mr. Wick listens to recomendations about new 'varietals ", he ASKS for a rush order, and he follows the process rather than skipping to the answers.
These are all men who know their crafts and revel in sharing the results.

Love the way the tailor casually says "Quite painful I'm afraid". His voice, the hand gesture and his pained expression over the flaw.
Subtly saying in this world, he's more concerned on the pain rather than the fact that he makes suits that LITERALLY stop bullets and DEATH.

It also implies that he has first-hand knowledge of his wares, as in he trusted them enough to put one on and let himself get shot just to make sure it works. A true professional.
Def broken ribs and internal bleeding tho. I’ve worn a bullet proof vest and got a hit before (by a stray round ricocheting) and it knocked all the air out of me and left a NASTY bruise broke the skin. I’m black but my chest was crayon purple

Here, you could see that it didn't even scratch the fabric... it's kevlar on steroids, HRT and other PED's.
It would be painful, but def. not breaking the skin.
Well, his focus is on the comfort of the suit. Cannot blame him for fretting over a client in pain while wearing his threads.
There are so many well conceived world building scenes in the John Wick series, but I believe this is the most memorable.

It’s kind of a joke scene.
The controls of an HK and Glock are totally different, why would a pro just drop one for the other? Because Keanu trained with Taran Butler and the handguns and that M4 are his custom work.
Also the LPVO on the rifle is a bad choice for fighting underground.
@@Matt-xc6sp It's certainly a versatile setup, but for cramped underground CQB it's definitely a bad choice. A suppressor and weapon light would have been more useful to have.

@@anxioussamurai9017 the LPVO (low power variable optic) on the rifle is much better suited for long range. A regular old un magnified dot would be better in a cavern like that.
There’s nothing wrong with the handgun, but as mentioned John used the HK in the first movie. They only switched to that Glock because of marketing for tarran tactical where Keanu trained.
The shotgun is also a TT custom, but I have zero notes on that. The benelli M4 is the best combat shotgun in the world and is an excellent choice for the situation.
The finest pencils, freshly sharpened. I can whole-heartedly recommend the new Staedtler edge-point. Compact graphene-ceramic HB carbide core with a tactile octagonal grip. The collar is compatible with the widest range of tactical sharpners and has a flared ferrule for greater eraser portability options.

@@seifer918 what I do find slightly humorous is these weapons hes "acquiring " the countries they are made in its almost impossible for the average person to legally purchase and own one. I live in America, and my state its still legal to open carry. If I want I can walk around with an m5 and a. 44 magnum on my hip and not be breaking the law. However, and this is funny, get caught with brass knuckles and do 45 days in jail. Even though they sell them at the store down the street. I know because I did 45 days for knucks. But I can legally carry a knife.

During the preparation scene, when John visits the mapper, he pays the mapper 4 coins instead of a single coin he gives to Angelo for his armored suits.
Angelo provided only a single service, while the Sommelier only recommended weapons and was part of the services John had already bought at the Continental when he checked in.
This is because, if you watch closely, the mapper actually provided 4 services:
1. He provided the old blueprint for the D'Antonio estate.
2. The modern blueprint of the estate.
3. A map of the catacombs underneath.
4. The keys to unlock the gates.
I appreciate his gun discipline. He aims away from the sommelier at all times. He’s deadly, but he’s also incredibly safe and respectful of each weapon. You can tell Keanu trained legitimately for this role.
Now if only Alec Baldwin trained legitimately for his role...

I love how the tailor mentions that even with that bulletproof lining, getting shot still hurts, which is very true for real armor. If you wear a kevlar vest and get shot in the chest, you're almost guaranteed to break a rib or two. Of course, a broken rib is preferable to having a bullet go through you, so that's a good trade.
Plates are better but at the cost of it being bulky and heavier. If you're wanting to blend in then the carbon sheets work best
And most who get shot don’t feel the pain because of the adrenaline. If you know you won’t die to a bullet your adrenaline won’t kick
Yeah, you can't defy physics but so much. Dissipating that much energy through a thin lining, you'll damn sure feel it.

As John Wick is usually a serious, no-nonsense kind of guy, I love the fact he is happy to indulge the Sommelier with wine tasting metaphors. Not sure if that is a requirement of buying guns off this guy, but his euphoric reaction to the dessert metaphor suggests he doesn't enjoy this level of wordplay very often
I assume it's a tradition within the circle - it's meant to imply that all Continental quartermasters are 'sommeliers', and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a word culture of food metaphors built by default around the gun sellers.
It wouldn't make sense for John Wick to have the mood to spontaneously indulge the sommelier all of a sudden, but going back to lingo that he used often in his professional assassin days is completely understandable.
i'm a sommelier and it's a reference to the fact that today there's few people who take a wine with their desert (that's why the sommelier is happy with this quote)

@@MontyQueues I get that argument, a better one would be those companies are just advertising guns that many viewers would be able to buy. although the "ar-15" is particularly funny to me because any relatively modern military grade rifle is better.
Given that most of times you see people like John run out of bullets and just ditch the gun for another one in the ground I'd guess they wouldn't want something expensive and rarer, therefore easier to trace. Common and both use and cost effective weapons can just be used then left or ditched without losing that much money on it.

The idea of textured grips being designed for bloody hands is both awesome and scary.
They're designed for SWEATY hands but the the fact that it's John Wick means the thought of nervous sweat never comes to mind.

I've never thought about it that way, to be honest(probably because I was raised around guns). I can tell you, though, that a huge part of getting used to a new pistol is getting a feel for the texturing. I've never bought a gun without handling it, because I'm kinda picky about grip textures.

@@dissolution9843 Aside from my CCW, I tend to look for pretty aggressive texturing. I do the bulk of my shooting these days suppressed, and between the long, cold winters and the can backpressures, I find most of my range shooting is gloved, and the ergonomics of my guns have to accomodate that.

I think because barely anyone asked for dessert anymore. All the young ones don't appreciate the fine cutleries while the older ones who do are dying out.

So now that I’m actually paying attention to how John Wick wants his suit, pretty much everything has a meaning.
Italian Style: usually is made for more slim and athletic builds, good for him since he needs to move around a lot
Tapered trousers: when trousers are tapered they’re usually made with a more roomier fit around the thighs. Good in case he needs to run or hold someone in place.
Two buttons: this should be obvious. Fast grab of his gun.
Noticing this, all in all, it’s a very well made suit. Perfect for Mr. Wick.

@@luqmaanjoomun182 oh sorry, I figured leaving it out since the movie explains it. But the Tactical lining is the body armor that sewn into the jacket of the suit and possibly the trousers but they don’t show it. It’s light, flexible and since it’s the cutting edge of body armor technology, at least for the Organization, it’s perfect protection for Mr. Wick. Only bad thing is he’s gonna wake up to a few bruises. Because it’s flexible it’s also thin. But it’s better than bullet holes. Good for him to move to cover his head and use as a shield, which they also show in the movie.
