Dude, what is cool about this is I just took an Audio CD, ripped it to BIN/Cue format using Imgburn, threw the bin/cue on the sd card and it boots right up! You could throw your whole music library in there and just use the Duo to play it off the SD Card. Very cool
Thank you for the additional update. The "graphics" button is for CDs that had, you guessed it, graphics. Music graphics, photos, etc. They were called CDGs. CDG was in addition to the music on the CD itself It never was a big deal and didn't catch on. CDs with CDG will be marked on the back label and I think on the disc itself. Hope this helps in case you didn't know. Great channel, keep up the great work. Thank you.
Very cool. It would be interesting to find out from an audiophile’s perspective how well the Analogue Duo’s CD player stands up to other stand-alone CD players in the audio quality department.
"Graphics" in the CD player looks like it's possibly for CD+G AKA Compact Disc + Graphics discs. It became popular for Karaoke CDs, to display lyrics on standard music CDs, but there were quite a few CDs from 1990-1993 which used it for some interesting color graphics displayed. I discovered this one day while playing a Jimi Hendrix CD on my Philips CD-i 910 system. Sega also included Rock Paintings with their front loading Sega CD model. Many people owned CD+G discs without even knowing. They sometimes don't even mention it anywhere on the disc. Aside from a very light CD+G laser etched into the disc ring.
I actually had wanted this for years, and this is super tempting.. but sadly the quality and numbers of games just sort of soured me. I'd still have loved it as a kid, but as an adult with many other systems it's a hard sell. That said, I'm still glad it exists and is now broken already. It's so nice to have options where it's not always hardware hack to get access to SD cards, and Analogue products are generally pretty amazing.
The more i see these devices the more i realise just how good mister fpga is. Dont get me wrong. I have an anologue super nt and its ace but Mister is just so versatile.
Seems a lot of games, particularly Japanese region .pce files, don't work. I've tried games from various sets but had the same result. All of the US .pce files I tried (30+) worked fine. CD games have also been working fine so far, but out of dozens of JP region .pce files I tried only a couple worked. These same files play fine on Analogue Pocket. A couple of .sgx games also wouldn't work for me. I tried three different sets from Archive. I'm assuming there's a very specific set I need?
Search on Archive.org for htgdb-gamepacks , I tried all the SuperGrafx Games, a bunch of TG16 & PC Engine games off the pack available there and all worked fine. Have you checked what you have the DUO's region set at? I have it as Auto and havent had an issue.
@@Madlittlepixel thank you, I'll try that pack! I tried auto and manually setting the region both ways with the same results. Crazy the files I have work on the AP and everything else but not Duo.
@@brianstuntman4368 Thanks. Similar to the Mega SG, Super NT, NT Noir JBs. Without save states, it’s a huge disadvantage as many of these games have no internal save function, and are hard as hell to beat without passwords, cheats, or save states.
@@ttsvc6638 Yeah, save states are a luxury I can't go without. I got Everdrives and FxPakPro for the systems you mentioned. As with all things Analogue, patience is required, and hopefully we'll get save states for the Duo at least...
@@Robert_Shmigelsky Lol. It’s not hard for you. It’s not hard for MLP. But for thousands of us, MLP is speaking in a foreign language. MLP recently released a video in which he says he wished he could find a 50,000-in-one plug and play that he could recommend. He makes clear that by far it’s best to do it yourself, but he also makes clear that he understands there are lots of us who don’t want to tackle that.
I have a Real SuperGrafx. it doesn't serve much purpose lol More or less just a conversation piece. It's used sparingly and mostly as a PCE. Neat collectors Item I guess. I don't even have any Real games for it. I use the Super SD System 3 or Everdrive Pro on it
Still can’t believe they released this thing as unfinished as it was. And it scratches original discs! I can play all this junk on an original Xbox if I wanted emulation.

I have a Analogue Duo and ai didn't realize it didn't play regular music cds. My old Turbografx cd definitely did with no problem.

For sure... yeah wasnt aware of the CDG's... I know I read mention of them but didn't know what they were. appreciate it.
@@Madlittlepixel The Sega CD pack in samplers had some CDG karoake songs, forget the name.
@matthenzel8930 had it named 2 comments down lol. 'Rock Paintings'
CD+G. Always wanted one to try out but never came across one when they were a thing

Fingers crossed that we will be able to play sega cd, neo geo cd, playstation, and sega saturn games.
Does it suppprt other cores like the analogue pocket that can play, NES, SNES, arcade...
Nice follow-up video to the jail break video.
I have so much nastolgia for that CD player screen . Cool to see that's usable.
Same here. Forgot about the color theme change. Glad he stumbled onto it in the video. Suddenly it all came back to me. Good times!
.... you know that would be pretty sweet to have on the dash of my car to play music. Just have a Lil screen and I can play games on it at stop lights

Just sold my Duo. But I understand I can do all this with my Analogue Pocket if I get Dock for that?
Ok. Maybe not play cd but everything else.
Does the Bios need a specific name? This will probably fix all the cd drive problems.
I’ll keep mine stock as i have the TED pro.
The sound is too LOW, can't hear anything from the HDMI audio and the headphone jack on the Analog Duo. Will they ever fix the audio level?
Eh it's not hacked. The jailbreak firmware is done by Kevtris, Analogue's lead developer.
Hopefully they add save states
Hi Everyboby, Is your analogue duo is low volume via HDMI to monitor?

I have no problem. The only hucard I could find that didn't work for me is Atlantean, but that's a homebrew.
@@Madlittlepixel just to confirm the set you recommended did solve my problem, thank you!
Can the jailbreak do save states?
Save states are supposedly "coming in a future OS update" so maybe it will be in the next JB release....

is there any system that you can buy with all the games already installed just plug and play i am not a computer person i do not know how to add games
It's not hard. Just follow what MLP is doing.

it´s nice with the JB but still to expensive
