Kayako is and forever will be the only horror movie ghost to STILL give me nightmares after all these years. I was 13 when I first saw Ju-On, and 16 years later she haunts my dreams every now and then. Top tier horror.
Edit: I also remember pranking my little sibling by making the Kayako croaking noise my ring tone, hiding my phone close to them and calling it from the house phone somewhere else in the house.
Understandable. When I first saw Kayako, I was probably around five when I was walking with my parents in a grocery store and saw the DVD cover for what I believe was The Grudge 2. Those eyes, I never forgot them and even though I never watched any of those movies before my teenage years, I dreaded what was staring back at me as I laid in my bed in the dark with my only source of light being in my closet as my room door was open to the darkness. Years later, I watched almost all those films along with anything else I could find about it and the thought of her and her curse still scares me more than anything else. If I was cursed, I know that even if I returned home hundreds or thousands of miles away from Japan, I’d doomed everyone I ever knew or met to a unavoidable fate and that’s what truly frightens me now to no end.
Funny thing is... I once had a dream where I was in Elm School and Kayako was my teacher. She was normal at first, but whenever a classmate was disruptive, she'd turn into the Onryo and scare the daylights out of them and warn them that if they disrupt again, she'll kill them. Instead of sending them to the principal's office. Bizarre dream ain't it?
Kayako is also my favorite ghost because she is absolutely terrifying. I first saw her in The Grudge because it was on TV late at night and she made me a little nervous of my dark house for the rest of the night.
@@JavelinAngel1295 I think everyones had weirder dreams, I found this one interesting ahahahah
@@theprocrastinator12 I still remember that dream so clearly. But just imagine it. Imagine having Kayako as your school teacher and she's already dead. Which means her human form is because she chose to appear that way until you disrupt her class and she shows her true form and scares the hell outta you for disrupting.
welcome back big boss
Thank you!
Big boss ke Ghar me aapka swagat hai!!
kept ya waitin huh?
Kept you waiting huh 😂
@@HorrorMine Thank you so much this was the first one I ever watch I was trying to get hold of it. However it was the end got it for me. Just imagine watching it on DVD and the last jump scare decided to show it self after you already open DVD for it mysteries close back😂
I haven't seen this movie yet, but I'm glad to see that a foreign remake can stand up to (and pay respects to) the original. So often a remake forgets what made an original film work.
Exactly! Of course the 2004 remake Didnt fail because it had the same Japanese directo
Kayako and Toshio are the only ghosts that truly scared me. Other ghosts had the potential to scare me, but the suspense was quickly deflated by the jump scares. Kayako and Toshio stood out because of their relentlessness and how their wrath was visited upon the heads of those who had no involvement in their deaths.
What about Sadako? She also went after those who had nothing to do with her death
I think of Kayako in a very different way now that I’ve watched WAKM-005
How about natre from shutter? She was scary as hell too.
First thing - glad to have ya back, I hope you took all the time you needed/need currently
Second - best way to start off my day, not feeling the best so I'm all for being in bed watching horror lol
Also, I can't help but mix this up with the scary movie parody of it 😂😅
Thank you for tuning in! Yeah I watched the parody scene yesterday and it was pretty funny.
It’s a shame that Scary movie has attached itself to other franchises like a parasite
Yasss!! Welcome back!!!! Wishing good blessings to you & your family. I screamed when I saw you uploaded! The grudge has terrified me since the day it premiered & I loved it! Getting to know the background behind her makes me love the film even more.
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for doing this as a scare score! This was also a series that permeated in my mind since childhood and is my most beloved and cherished as horror to my heart since it legitimately scared me. I have always tried to find a horror movie or franchised that so deeply scared me to the bones like this one did and nothing hits the same. The peripheral scares, plot device of the vicious cycle and spiraling effects of abuse, and nihilism resolve that nothing can stop it just fuel the effectiveness.
This was the first movie I got to see by myself in theaters when I was growing up. Now that I think about it, this was also the last movie I've ever seen in a theater by myself 🤣
Oh my gosh, welcome back!!! When I saw the thumbnail I might have gasped so loud I woke up my dogs. So excited for this scare score!!
Thank you very much for tuning in!
I am just so happy with this video that this is the 3rd time watching this- 😂 it's good to have you back. Watched this movie when I was 9 years old. Started my love for Horror.
Good to have you back, you have my sincere condolences, if you ever need more time I'll understand just let us know if you're going to take another break.
Thank you very much. I truly appreciate it
I'm so excited you're back I have rewatched all your videos like 50 times now🤩
Thank you very much!
Glad to have you back! Been waiting forever for this lol. Hope you're doing well. Please continue to take care of yourself!
Thank you! Will do!
Glad to see you back! Hope you're doing well and I hope that if you ever need time, to take it
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoy it
Ey my man is back with some banger. hope everything is good
All is well. Thanks for watching!
Love that you’re re-doing the grudge with scare score I liked the first series you did and will be looking forward to the new scare scores on the series!
welcome back !!! your Juon commentaries give me life ! Glad to see you back with my favorite horror movie franchise ahaha
Thank you so much!
He's back, the man behind the...ehm..the mine? Yeah, the man behind the mine.
Good to have you back.
Thank you!
Ever since I saw this movie at the far too young age of 10, I STILL have nightmares about Kayako. Really a testament to how scary she is. I don't have nightmares about any other fictional horror characters.
Welcome back! We missed you ❤️
Thank you very much!
Kayako is absolutely my favorite ghost in horror, she's terrifying. The first time I saw The Grudge (it was on TV late at night, like midnight late), I remember the scene that scared me the most was when she appeared out of the corner in Emma's room as that black shadow. Made me a little nervous cuz the rest of the house was dark.
I never thought it was hard to follow. Guess if a story isn't completely linear, people get lost?
Didn't learn until a few years ago that the reason this one is so good is because the original creator was part of making it. I have this, Ju-on: The Grudge, and Ju-on 2 all on DVD. Don't know if there's any way to get all of them om DVD though.
Welcome back! we missed you man
Welcome back! ❤ Sending virtual hugs!
Thank you very much!
Oh yes, a new video!!
I've been waiting for a new Scare Score ❤
Thanks for being patient!
The SW text crawl theme really got me laughing :D
I was expecting you mention that the elderly woman is Sarah Palmer, the mother of Laura Palmer. But maybe that would be a too old reference for you or your audicende. Also, the guy jumping out the balcony is Bill Pullman, who played Lonestar in Space Balls and Fred Madison in Lost Highway (another David Lynch movie).
I remember watching this movie again I think last year and I said out loud "no you didn't" when they hurt the cat :( I just don't like that in asian horror when an animal shows up you can be certain that it gets finished, like in Cello. You don't hurt the cats, especially the black ones! 😢
Return of the king
😀 thanks for tuning in!
Glad to see yah back man.
Thank you
Sashimiiiii
Glad your back
This movie had a deleted scene where Karen visited the police station and finds out that both Detective Nakagawa and his partner passed away. Another one reveals that the realtor died at the same time as Matthew and his wife Jennifer, which would've revealed that Kayako, Toshio, and Takeo's spirits can kill people in different locations at the same time. I was intrigued that the curse didn't reveal itself when the detectives, Alex, and the forensic team were investigating the house after Emma's death but assume these spirits do not want to be revealed to the public.
I hope you took your time brother, glad you are back.
I did! I’m glad to be back
God I love the way you talk lol.
Thanks lol
The first time that I watched The Grudge remake, I had a panic attack, but some reason, instead of leave it behind and forget about, I began to obsess with this movies, getting the Japanese versions, the remakes, the spin-offs, is really become an obsession, to the point that I barely watch western horror anymore, only in occasion when they do Lovecraftian/Otherworldly horror, where you known that the protagonist is doom not matter what he do.
Welcome back Vic and thank you for a really enjoyable video.
Thanks a lot! I’m glad you enjoyed it
Growing up, this used to be one of the scariest remake film I saw as kid.
20 years later, still remains as one of the scariest.
Thank you for covering Vik! Will you be tackling the sequels too?
Yes we will be covering the sequels as well! Thanks for watching
Should add an extra scare score number for the sudden Star Wars music at the beginning😂😂
The blanket scene with Susan scared the hell out of me
Same here!!
I've been anticipating your return, so glad to see you back
Welcome back my friend. As soon as I saw the notification I quickly clicked to see the video
Same Rebecca, different name. Lol. Thanks for keep making content.
Thank you for tuning in!
@@HorrorMineOf course. You're one of my favorite creators. Since I changed my username, I thought I would leave a little comment. Plus it tells you that I'm still around.
Formerly @RebeccaFerr
You're back!!! I hope you're finding some peace friend can't wait to watch!
Kayako will always haunt me when I'm reminded of her. Even though I live with family, I have phasmophobia so just the mere thought of her lurking in the corner or behind me makes me paranoid enough to rush through the hallway back to my room. But when I'm way too paranoid even in the safety of my room, I turn on my lamp. That's just how scary Kayako is. Even though I think she's beautiful.
This gave me night terrors. I was almost put to a hospital once lol. Now this became my favorite movie franchise ever!!
Ah yes the grudge this movie got me nightmares when I was 7 years old now as a 21 year old I decided to re-watch it it's still got me jumpscares but it still is amazing but even after all of that the franchise ended there with nothing new just the same bad ending
Welcome back! We've all been sending you love and patiently waiting for your return. And thank you for giving us some spanking new morning horror
Thank you very much!
The first jumpscare of this movie was so well done,I’d say my best one till date.
I laughed so hard when the Star Wars theme came on 🤣🤣🤣!!! Great video!
lol, thank you!
Glad you’re back!
Not sure I would have agreed with you on the Toney Maguire comparison…I think I would have said a young Matthew Broderick in Godzilla or that one actor from Jurassic Park when he gets eaten by a dinosaur while on a toilet (don’t remember who that was, but it was funny).
Thanks for being back 🎉 We've been waiting for you
I use to scare the hell out of my friends back in the day by making the croaking noise behind them
My King! You have returned!!❤❤❤
Kayako IS the scariest ghost in film history, Sadako is also pretty unsettling. But the fact that she is forever silent always took me out of it. Don't get me wrong, silence can be disturbing, but sometimes, having the ghost make an iconic terrifying sound whenever she appears is much scarier.
I would have to agree with you!
Welcome back to the world of the living old friend. Peace be with you.
Thank you
Welcome back, I’ve missed your videos man!
Classic. Very good adaptation. Liked the casting too!
Nice you r back 🙂
Yes I love Sarah Michelle Gellar! True scream/supernatural queen
Glad to have you back!
In my opinion, The Grudge and The Ring are the best American adaptations of iconic Japanese horror films. That being said, it did lead to a trend of movies studios grabbing whatever Asian horror movie at the time (One Missed Call, The Eye, Shutter, etc.) and thinking they could make bank with adapting them without actually trying to both understand and retain the horror aspects of those movies. Although I will say that the Shutter adaptation was fairly decent.
I agree! Haven't seen the Shutter remake though.
@@HorrorMineit's relatively the same but the female lead is a lot more headstrong and, in my opinion, the scares aren't as scary.
In Japan, they made the movie Kayako vs. Samara (Sadako vs Kayako).
Even tho it is a remake it made such a big impression on me as a teen.
Oh sweet, been looking forward to the revisit since you mentioned it!
The Toby Maguire reference sent me laughing!
lol 😂
Oh no! I'm 2 days late.. Still excited to see your videos again 😁 Welcome back!
No worries! thank you for watching
glad to have you back man , love your videos so much !
This movie is why I can't stand being in dark closets. Mother took me with her to see it when I was 11, and I immediately left once Yoko got dragged into the attic
Welcome Back! Just my humble suggestion. Please avoid red frames for ur thumbnail. It might confuse people into thinking they watched a video before.
That's a good point! Thanks for the input
Good to have you back brother!
Good to see you again! I’m glad to see you’re doing much better 💙
Thank you very much!
this is a great video after your break! I've missed your commentary a lot.
Yoo welcome back man. We missed your videos
Amazing review! This movie still gives me nightmares sometimes.
Thank you so much
Great video as always, glad to have you back!
Thank you!
So happy to see you back
That opening start wars music was on spot
Awesome!
Welcome back! your videos always cheer me up !
hope you are doing good!! Thanks for another cool video
Yes, you're back finally!
Thanks for watching
Good to have you back, sir 🎉🎉🎉
Great to have you back!🎉
More to come!
One of my favorite movie franchises and remakes. And one day imma do a video on how Kayako is one of the most powerful ghosts/ beings that we have ever seen. Love her!
Honestly I wish they had kept the deleted scenes. While it didn’t fully change the story, it did make it so much creepier, and I grew up with the theatrical version and I have to say…. The uncut one is definitely better.
This version gave me chills then I went and watched Ju On and that gave me nightmares.... fast forward half a decade later and not much scares me now lol
Japanese version still gets me to this DAY. Maybe not US version. Did you ever see Juon Series on Netflix?
Glad you are back! Hope you are doing alright.
I am doing better. Thank you
oh letzgoooo...hes back!! love ur vids man
Thank you very much
Welcome back.
Take your time to heal❤
my dad made me watch this movie as a child, it still haunts me to this day 😢 i love gore and hate jumpscares and i fucking hate the grudge. like genuinely.
This is the first horror movie I watched that actually scared me shitless as a kid. I remember being home alone when I watched it, I was so giddy until the opening jump scare. After that I was wondering when my parents were gonna be home 🤣😂
I'd let Kayako stalk me. Also Petta looks like the Kappa emote.
" dont worry! she slip and fall!" and " Your japanese is awful! it dishonors my ears." Is all I think of everytime i see this
glad to see you back :D
I wanna see you do the Tag-Along movies one day :D
I saw those on Tubi the other day. I'll make sure to check them out
this was the movie that scared the hell out of me when i was little, my brother loves to scare me with the kayako noise up to this day hahaha
YOUR BACK man!
How dare you mingle my traumas from both The Grudge and Bubba’s death how DARE you
Can you please do a scare score of "Rattle Rattle" that movie is a trip!
Welcome back, ive been missing your vids!
I’ll check it out!
@HorrorMine it's part of an anthology film called 'Kowai Onna' or 'Unholy Women' I hope it peaks your interest!!
Ah yes! Many's childhood trauma, I remember seeing this as a little shit and would forever be traumatized from attics and croaking long haired asian women
Exactly! The trauma is real 🥲
The under the blanket scene to this day still has me scared to use one sometimes. That scared me so bad when I was a kid 😂
Blankets are supposed to make us feel safe!
I still wonder what happened to Manami Kobayashi in Apartment 205 because she also people who getting killed by takeo saeki at the same night as kayako It seem like she also became Onryō just like kayako but her curse seem separated from saeki house.
Also is it possible that the Juon curse itself can be forming out of random place not by not depend on saeki house because both Juon Black ghost and white ghost neither of cast vising saeki house but suddenly got affect by Juon curse that emergeout of nowhere (Black ghost with Fukie twin killing her family member and all of people who get involved Nurse,Relative, Shaman family) (White ghost with Isobe family killing everyone who listen to the tape, The girl who play ouija, Delivery guy, taxi driver, police officer).
I missed your scare scores so much
15:04 I think this was her creepiest stalk photo yet 😱
In some ways the grudge gives me the shining vibes, mainly referring to the Kubrick film
12:04 that one caught me off guard 😭
Love your channel and narrating ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
