Honestly I’m kinda scared... Star King Kirito gives me dangerous vibes, like he’s protecting Underworld to the exclusion of any IRL concerns. 200 years, or even part of that time if he put Her Majesty Asuna into Deep Freeze or something, is more time than Kirito ever spent in the physical world or even spent with Asuna... these sorts of timeframes can change a person. Kirito attempts to be good and help others, but if my assumption that Kirito stopped his aging the same way Quinella did is true, then he cut off most of his emotions as well. All that would be left to him would be cold, hard logic, and pure logic untempered by morals or emotional investment can be dangerous. In short, I’ve been worried about Kayaba’s plans and methods for the last 3 seasons, but I’ve finally really started to understand what makes him tick (by completely discarding his likely-obfuscating response to the initial question at the end of the Aincrad Arc 🤣). The real issue for me now is Star King Kirito’s current mindset, as I don’t know what it is but it gives me bad vibes and my vibes have hardly ever been wrong at any point in the show.
I completely agree. As Star King Kirito was talking, I got mad Quinella vibes. Cold, hardened, and detached. He may be even more dangerous than Quinella was though. While both the Pontifex and Star King have sworn themselves to the protection of Underworld, the Pontifex used fake love as a manipulation tactic to usurp power and control over the Human Empire. When really, she only ever cared about herself. Whereas, Star King has lost everything and everyone that was personally close to him, due to them all dying and him still being alive. He has nothing to lose and nothing holding him back from getting what he desires at any means necessary.

Pretty good video. It's a shame they cut out the Alfheim scene. Other than that, I'd say it was a solid adaptation. I like how the anime made sure to have Star King's voice be more intense and cold, signifying that he's very different from regular Kirito. Then there's the brief shot of himself and Kayaba. The way S.K. Kirito's eyes look and his expression that scene is great.
when I saw Kirito cry in this episode, and heard Higa's conversation with SK Kirito Then came a thought, can Eugeo be brought back to life? use the leftover flutchlight that is still stored in blue rose? using the same method for SK Kirito? I know this is only a wishful thinking, but seeing Kirito sad makes me wonder what if he can comeback...

And I have a spoiler question, if they say something about this in the last episode dont answer: All the underworldians that we met during alicization are dead but Selka? Or is there someone else alive?

Ponczos_22 it’s sad indeed, but they’ve already lived for centuries on end because of Quinella’s synthesis ritual. So after the war, SK Kirito and SQ Asuna returned to them the lives they should have lived, allowing them to age and then die. Especially in Fanatio’s case, since she wouldn’t want to outlive her and late Bercouli’s child. Selka is an exception to the rest because she wanted to spend time with Alice since before Alice was captured and became a knight, which is why she’s in deep freeze.

@@ihsanahmed4669 Uh, Star King Kirito and regular Kirito were the same person while in the STL room. It wasn't until Star King was copied and regular Kirito's memories getting erased that they became different people.
8:37 I really struggle to reconcile your statement here with Alice’s exact words in this moment. She didn’t know any other “real worlder” other than Kirito until basically a couple days, at most, before she left Underworld. However, while it’s impossible for her to be talking about anyone else, I GUESS “love” can have multiple meanings. Eugeo clearly loved Kirito like a brother. I doubt Alice loves Kirito like he’s her brother, but he protected her sometimes and she protected him sometimes, so a bond was definitely formed. Not necessarily romantic love, but still a powerful bond. That’s the only way I can really spin this to say she’s not in love with him. But the people making the subtitles could definitely have made it clearer.
That is literally it. A huge admiration for the person who broke her shackles and showed her the true world. I always say this time and time again, if you want to see how she feels, look at her explicitly describing what and how she feels in elaborate ways in her own inner monologues. And none of that is the description of a romantic love. That's why all the way back in WoU EP5 I said what I said. That's why I talked about Alice in the episode where they sat down with Stacia. Alice has been very clear about her feelings in the inner monologues.
I've really enjoyed the alicization arc and how Kirito feels like a more complex character now compared to what we previously seen in the anime! I'm also really interested in the Star King, how the child of Fanatio and Bercouli ended up, and what happened during the 200 years in Underworld.

It's really nice how you're adding in the details from the LNs, since that--notwithstanding any flaws in the story itself--is the biggest problem with the anime, that it cuts out a lot of the details from the LNs which flesh out the story (and, in the case of Incarnation and all that, make it understandable).
The start of SAO was awesome. It’s literally the second half of Season 1 that sucked, because it introduced a lot of the controversial tropes and negative stigmas that SAO is infamous for.

The thing that really confused me at first was the fact that they really brushed over the whole wake up scene and initially I thought they just threw copies of their souls into their bodies which made no sense

seeing suguha being there for kazuto and supporting kazuto when kazuto is upset and kazuto telling his story to suguha about his time in Underworld with eugeo his best friend who died and spent many years with and going to the academy and training together to be knight's and fighting together and being instructor's together this is a sweet moment between kazuto and suguha this was adapted beautifully SK SQ 😭❤ so many feels during this ep

I guess SK Kirito has grown more attached to the UW after spending there almost 10 times the time he spent in the real world. Underworld has become his reality and has his own people, every single character we’ve met in the UW died of old age but Selka, who -as stated in the anime- was frozen. So yeah.. time changes a man.
Star Queen and Star King I went on a 2 week hiatus of anime to further my... FFXIV addiction... >.> Lots to talk about, lots of thoughts I loved these past 2 episodes. Mostly this one, but the last one was really cool to see Kayaba still maintaining a presence and setting up for the future. Very nice indeed. But for this episode? Star King Kirito stole it. I love the shot into his eye, showing this "I've seen so much fucking shit," and Higa's reaction to it was very, very interesting. It's like as if someone who was revolted, but still had a lingering, morbidly curious thought. Star King Kirito will probably be my new favorite entity in SAO, even beyond Eugeo. I really hope next week tells us more of him, because it's the last episode. The "Even though our memory are gone, our memories will never vanish" is a really nice touch (Took me a double take to understand it, but I do think it's perfect for a one-off sentence). I don't have much else to say other than Give me more Star King stuff and Give me more of the 200 year Underworld content (Beyond just the 2 side stories, before you mention it ;) ), even if it's in a Progressive-style novel after... the actual progressive show. It should be interesting, and I can't wait for it (Because it'll make the SAO world look fucking gorgeous if it's even close to Alicization). Star King Kirito sounds so insanely evil, that it seems undeniable that he’s going to become a major complication. The fact that he literally suggested Kayaba to Higa as an ally that they could employ to help them sustain and protect the Underworld makes me think that he will become the biggest threat that Kirito has ever faced at the end of the series or at least in Season 4. Fitting that Kirito’s #1 harem fangirl, Reki Kawahara, would design Kirito’s ultimate anatagonist...as a literal copy of Kirito. Just older and better.
Gamerturk - Willingly working with Kayaba - Protecting Underworld above all else and no matter the cost - His cold and calculating tone of voice A-1 didn’t exactly frame him as a hero, if anything they gave off the impression that he was cold and ruthless like Quinella.
@@DVRKSTXR Kayaba isn't evil. Sure he trapped 10,000 people in a death game, but he gave them a fair chance of clearing it. Star King only mentioned Kayaba since he was able to connect to the Ocean Turtle before. As for Star King himself, he's the ruler of Underworld and its protector, of course he's gonna prioritize its safety over anything else. Keep in mind, he's been in Underworld for 200 years. He's seen a lot of battles and its clear that time has hardened him.
A few friends of mine got to nitpicking the dialogue about memories pretty quickly as they were already displeased with the dialogue writing lately namely the 'Kirito x Asuna reunite got cut' fĨasco(lol yep, a lot of them out there). And in Chinese version they actually tranlated it into words like 'memories' and 'recollection' respectively, still got them confused tho. I go back to when I saw Eugeo remebering his childhood memories before dying in front of Kirito, and the same kinda confusion struck me, and I HAD read the novels but wasn't able to remember the reasoning. Now I hope these trivial stuff don't ruin some people's immersion and motivate them to get back and watch some previous episodes to get the whole 'theme' around Alicization Again, the explaining of these videos helps.

If the Lightcubes are meant to have a 150 year of memories limit then how does kirito's copy flucktlight (Star King) even remember anything? Did Higa modify the lighcube by giving it extra or infinite memory capacity or did the lightcube simply accepted Star King's memory amount?

#AskGamerturk At this point, SK Kirito and SQ Asuna both spent the majority of their life in the UW (like 90%). So I wondered what could be their actual mindset after all this time and what did the king and queen think of and how do they relate to the « real world », their family, friends, and also their child Yui that they hadn’t seen for a long time now. Were they still attached to their past life since SAO, especially Kirito with his black swordsman persona (well he was 16 at the time) or did they switch into some kind of superior beings who at some point decided to exclusively live for the Underworld ? At least for Kirito, it seems the case when he states that he will « fight only for the Underworld » or even when he refers to Asuna as « Her Majesty » or « the queen » first instead of her usual name. Apart from that, thanks a lot for those explained videos, it's alway very interesting to know more of the Sao universe for anime only people like me ! :)

There's plenty of hints that certain arts are not lasting and eventually fade away. And remember, while their life is frozen, they still have memory limitations and can't survive without regular memory maintenance.
Gamerturk I thought I read or heard somewhere (and I don’t remember where, so sorry about that) that the existing Integrity Knights weren’t necessarily dead, but sealed away, mostly because of what is being said here - while their lifespans have been frozen, their fluctlights had hit their maximum. This of course excludes Bercouli, Dakira, Eldrie, and Eugeo, all of whom are actually dead. That being said, dead, sealed away, I’m probably talking semantics here. Whatever it is, they’re all out of the picture by the time King Kirito and Queen Asuna left the picture.

without quinella there deep freeze they only lived for 200 years we only see them during moon cradle I think only Selka survived her deep freeze that's want kirito said to Alice when he reunited with Alice
Natsu please, you are way too excited about things that you say too much without full understanding of what you are saying which can lead to a lot of misunderstanding. @Tin, we know some Sacred Arts fade away over time after their caster is no longer around to maintain it. And on top of that, without memory maintenance for the old Knights, they are bound to die due to memory errors even if their age remains frozen. So yes, everybody who is frozen by Kirito and/or Asuna (the only person we know is Selka) can survive due to actually being frozen, the others cannot, one way or another. But we do not know the specifics aside from the Integrity Knights order being "sealed", you can interpret that the Knights themselves are sealed frozen or the Knighthood itself, as far as I know, it refers to the Knighthood, and they banned things like age freezing by deeming it an unethical practice. So what was once the sacred Knighthood, is now just a calling like every other job. After 200 years, they are also no longer "Knights".

All hail the Star King and Start Queen! And great video Turk! Keep it up! I really enjoyed this episode. I am into all the nerdy details so this being an exposition galore was much more enjoyable to me than it might have been to others. But I wasn't expecting to be hit with the cells this hard on this episode. It wasn't just my eyes getting weat, I actually cried tears down my face like 3 different time this episode. I couldn't hold myself together with the Eugeo memories during the ED. I'm right there with you Turk, that ED was finally well used and it made me cry almost more than Unlasting. I really enjoyed this episode and I hyped to see what kind of preparation or cliffhanger becomes of the last episode. I think I'm really going to buy the novels this time around. I do have a question about that now. #AskGamerturk Where in the story do you recommend for an Anime Only to start reading? Should I go back and read everything from V1? Stat from the Alicization Saga or go on ahead to Moon Cradle, Unital Ring and/or the Progressive novels? Does it depend if the person is more inclined towards Action or Character Development, Lore or something else?
If you enjoyed the alicization arc of the anime then I highly recommend volumes 09 to 18 cause those volumes are basically what this season revolves around to. Moon cradle is an Alicization side story and you should pick it up only if you are interested in knowing what kirito and asuna did these 200 years in the underworld. These last couple of episodes are adapted from volume 18 of the alicization light novel titled Alicization lasting
Thanks for the tip @@nitrozeus3288! I do have an idea of what happens in the story, obviously on the Alicization part, but not so much after that. What I'm asking is that from the point of view of LN reader what volumes of the story are either must read, recommend or can live without. Depending a bit on genre preferences as well, since I don't have any idea if a volume is more world building or character development than another that may be more action.
My usual take is just "start where the anime left off" because I know from my own experience that your brain usually goes "I already went through all this" when you try reading things you already watched. But yeah, especially the Human Realm arc is a massive exception to that imo, with Eugeo's story becoming Kirito's journey in the anime, Eugeo only becoming a sidekick. I'll answer it more thoroughly in the Q&A, but tl;dr is "Start with v9 and move up from there".

"Star King and Star Queen" Happy Alice is Alicia and Robot Waifu. On the other hand given the extreme time dilation (like the protagonist of Interstellar) during the max acceleration phase everyone that Alicia knew and love except Selka is pretty much long "dead". Which means she's dependant on Kirito for emotional support and as a frame of reference in the Real World, or hangout with Yui in ALO. Aww well Star King was a fun final challenge boss fight in Hollow Fragment.

@@tashar02 The fluctlight limit was just a theory by Higa, it wasn't a definitive limit or anything. He said they believed it would be around that time but obviously, nobody ever made proper research on it due to lack of technology or observation potential.
As Doctor said, all we know clearly is the events of Moon Cradle, and the little flashback sequence you saw in this episode. Unital Ring is expected to shed some light on some things, but dont expect them to be actual stories, more like information drops.
Star King & Star Queen! #AskGamerturk I haven’t read the novels so I’m not sure if these questions have been answered, nor do I have the best memory so forgive me if these Qs have been answered before, but here’s what I got: 1. If Ichemon was badly damaged by distracting Gabriel’s men while Higa went down to the cable ducts, and Niemon was boarded by Kaiyaba and nearly destroyed saving the Ocean Turtle from a bomb, and now apparently sent down to the floor to reconnect the Faster cable... What vehicle does Alice use? Edit: I think you touched on robots being more common in this timeline? Sorry if I missed it! 2. The female reporter questioned Rinko on the potential for fluctlights in the unskilled labor force, but it quickly turned into an argument for AI rights. I was curious on the point Rinko made about fluctlights not being able to be “mass produced” since they have to grow up, but what about time acceleration in the Underworld? Couldn’t they just do that? 3. I never once thought of Alice’s love for Kirito as romantic, more of a reverence for saving, protecting, and cherishing both her and her world, but did Alice ever consider having romantic feelings for him? I remember the anime scene in the tent where she stares into his eyes and thinks on how she doesn’t have the right to have feelings (I know she didn’t try to kiss him, just looking into his eyes) but I wasn’t for sure if she thought about it or not. 4. Does Asuna have memory flashbacks of the 200 years in the Underworld as well? What are her thoughts on the time spent there? 5. The goal of RATH was to make a bottom up AI for military purposes, and since Alice was being protected by Kirito and Rinko, does Kikuoka plan to still continue to develop more AI for that purpose? I could only assume so, but wouldn’t Rinko and Kirito just keep trying to stop him?

@@nylenasir3581 They never showed three bodies in the STL units, at least in the Main Control area. The bodies the enemy recovered were Gabriel's and Briggs', the latter of whom was killed in the shaft by Kikuoka. You're remembering wrong.
I am waiting for the official translation of Unital Ring. I already know the contents, being part of Wikia and all, so based on things going on right now, it's a chill story leading into Accel World. But we know things are gonna get ugly soon.
When is the Unital Ring anime episodes coming out? Are they going to make a SAO Progressive anime series anytime soon? Because that would be very interesting.
Hey Gamerturk, I just have a question (the answer should be spoiler). I haven't read the LN btw. Since Kirito now lost his memories of the 200 years in the Underworld. If he goes back to Underworld in the futur (which I believe happen), does he still have his Star King account, even without the memories ? Or he will take a fresh new account ?
The account, at least to my interpretation, should be fine as there is no "Star King" account. Kirito was only using a regular account, unlike Asuna who was using a goddess account (which is also fine as memories shouldn't really affect accounts in terms of data).
@@darkstorm2579 Yes, the account shouldn't have any problem. But he will appear in the underworld with a lot of stuff or idk what and couldn't remember what is was. It's kind of strange but I really would appreciate that.
@@davtek11 Kirito and Asuna ruled Underworld for 170 years and then disappeared for the remaining 30. Supposedly they had all records of their names erased, leaving only the Star King and Star Queen. No one in Underworld now knows that Kirito is the Star King. Edit: As for weapons or equipment, I can see your point but from what we see in the future light novels, Kirito kept using the Night-Sky Blade and Blue Rose Sword.

Honestly I’m kinda scared... Star King Kirito gives me dangerous vibes, like he’s protecting Underworld to the exclusion of any IRL concerns. 200 years, or even part of that time if he put Her Majesty Asuna into Deep Freeze or something, is more time than Kirito ever spent in the physical world or even spent with Asuna... these sorts of timeframes can change a person.
Kirito attempts to be good and help others, but if my assumption that Kirito stopped his aging the same way Quinella did is true, then he cut off most of his emotions as well. All that would be left to him would be cold, hard logic, and pure logic untempered by morals or emotional investment can be dangerous.
In short, I’ve been worried about Kayaba’s plans and methods for the last 3 seasons, but I’ve finally really started to understand what makes him tick (by completely discarding his likely-obfuscating response to the initial question at the end of the Aincrad Arc 🤣). The real issue for me now is Star King Kirito’s current mindset, as I don’t know what it is but it gives me bad vibes and my vibes have hardly ever been wrong at any point in the show.
I completely agree. As Star King Kirito was talking, I got mad Quinella vibes. Cold, hardened, and detached. He may be even more dangerous than Quinella was though. While both the Pontifex and Star King have sworn themselves to the protection of Underworld, the Pontifex used fake love as a manipulation tactic to usurp power and control over the Human Empire. When really, she only ever cared about herself. Whereas, Star King has lost everything and everyone that was personally close to him, due to them all dying and him still being alive. He has nothing to lose and nothing holding him back from getting what he desires at any means necessary.

Pretty good video. It's a shame they cut out the Alfheim scene. Other than that, I'd say it was a solid adaptation. I like how the anime made sure to have Star King's voice be more intense and cold, signifying that he's very different from regular Kirito. Then there's the brief shot of himself and Kayaba. The way S.K. Kirito's eyes look and his expression that scene is great.

Ponczos_22 it’s sad indeed, but they’ve already lived for centuries on end because of Quinella’s synthesis ritual. So after the war, SK Kirito and SQ Asuna returned to them the lives they should have lived, allowing them to age and then die. Especially in Fanatio’s case, since she wouldn’t want to outlive her and late Bercouli’s child. Selka is an exception to the rest because she wanted to spend time with Alice since before Alice was captured and became a knight, which is why she’s in deep freeze.
Omg.. that’s really sad :/.. I so wanted them to interact with the realworlders.. hopefully Bercouli and Fanatio’s child is still around.

8:37 I really struggle to reconcile your statement here with Alice’s exact words in this moment. She didn’t know any other “real worlder” other than Kirito until basically a couple days, at most, before she left Underworld.
However, while it’s impossible for her to be talking about anyone else, I GUESS “love” can have multiple meanings. Eugeo clearly loved Kirito like a brother. I doubt Alice loves Kirito like he’s her brother, but he protected her sometimes and she protected him sometimes, so a bond was definitely formed. Not necessarily romantic love, but still a powerful bond. That’s the only way I can really spin this to say she’s not in love with him.
But the people making the subtitles could definitely have made it clearer.

That is literally it. A huge admiration for the person who broke her shackles and showed her the true world. I always say this time and time again, if you want to see how she feels, look at her explicitly describing what and how she feels in elaborate ways in her own inner monologues. And none of that is the description of a romantic love. That's why all the way back in WoU EP5 I said what I said. That's why I talked about Alice in the episode where they sat down with Stacia. Alice has been very clear about her feelings in the inner monologues.

I've really enjoyed the alicization arc and how Kirito feels like a more complex character now compared to what we previously seen in the anime! I'm also really interested in the Star King, how the child of Fanatio and Bercouli ended up, and what happened during the 200 years in Underworld.

It's really nice how you're adding in the details from the LNs, since that--notwithstanding any flaws in the story itself--is the biggest problem with the anime, that it cuts out a lot of the details from the LNs which flesh out the story (and, in the case of Incarnation and all that, make it understandable).

The start of SAO was awesome. It’s literally the second half of Season 1 that sucked, because it introduced a lot of the controversial tropes and negative stigmas that SAO is infamous for.

Alice in the speech used 愛(Ai) which can be either romantic or platonic. A purely romantic confession would use 大好き(Daisuki).
seeing suguha being there for kazuto and supporting kazuto when kazuto is upset and kazuto telling his story to suguha about his time in Underworld with eugeo his best friend who died and spent many years with and going to the academy and training together to be knight's and fighting together and being instructor's together this is a sweet moment between kazuto and suguha this was adapted beautifully SK SQ 😭❤ so many feels during this ep

1st: why did Kirito request to erase his and Asuna's 200 years worth of memories when saying their roles are done? Could you shed some light on this.
2nd: if theoretically speaking if the Star King & Star Queen were to keep their memories in the 200 yrs spend in underworld would it affect their way of living in the real world.
3rd: I know this is going to sound idiotic even Reki stated that Accel World is a different reality he said in your opinion does the Fluctlight copy of Kirito confirm or might be Graphite Edge or not?
4th: What does in your opinion the future of the Star King Persona Kirito that was copied.
5th: In the humanoid body for the artificial fluctlights do they implement the light cube cluster to it or just attach a cable to transfer the fluctlight to their android like appearance?

I guess SK Kirito has grown more attached to the UW after spending there almost 10 times the time he spent in the real world.
Underworld has become his reality and has his own people, every single character we’ve met in the UW died of old age but Selka, who -as stated in the anime- was frozen.
So yeah.. time changes a man.

I went on a 2 week hiatus of anime to further my... FFXIV addiction... >.> Lots to talk about, lots of thoughts
I loved these past 2 episodes. Mostly this one, but the last one was really cool to see Kayaba still maintaining a presence and setting up for the future. Very nice indeed.
But for this episode? Star King Kirito stole it. I love the shot into his eye, showing this "I've seen so much fucking shit," and Higa's reaction to it was very, very interesting. It's like as if someone who was revolted, but still had a lingering, morbidly curious thought.
Star King Kirito will probably be my new favorite entity in SAO, even beyond Eugeo. I really hope next week tells us more of him, because it's the last episode.
The "Even though our memory are gone, our memories will never vanish" is a really nice touch (Took me a double take to understand it, but I do think it's perfect for a one-off sentence).
I don't have much else to say other than Give me more Star King stuff and Give me more of the 200 year Underworld content (Beyond just the 2 side stories, before you mention it ;) ), even if it's in a Progressive-style novel after... the actual progressive show. It should be interesting, and I can't wait for it (Because it'll make the SAO world look fucking gorgeous if it's even close to Alicization).

Star King Kirito sounds so insanely evil, that it seems undeniable that he’s going to become a major complication. The fact that he literally suggested Kayaba to Higa as an ally that they could employ to help them sustain and protect the Underworld makes me think that he will become the biggest threat that Kirito has ever faced at the end of the series or at least in Season 4. Fitting that Kirito’s #1 harem fangirl, Reki Kawahara, would design Kirito’s ultimate anatagonist...as a literal copy of Kirito. Just older and better.
Where did you get the "insanely evil" from? Nothing he said or did had any hint of evilness to it.

@@DVRKSTXR Kayaba isn't evil. Sure he trapped 10,000 people in a death game, but he gave them a fair chance of clearing it. Star King only mentioned Kayaba since he was able to connect to the Ocean Turtle before.
As for Star King himself, he's the ruler of Underworld and its protector, of course he's gonna prioritize its safety over anything else. Keep in mind, he's been in Underworld for 200 years. He's seen a lot of battles and its clear that time has hardened him.

The last episode of Alicization we see Kazuto experiencing a trope and can't deal
A few friends of mine got to nitpicking the dialogue about memories pretty quickly as they were already displeased with the dialogue writing lately namely the 'Kirito x Asuna reunite got cut' fĨasco(lol yep, a lot of them out there). And in Chinese version they actually tranlated it into words like 'memories' and 'recollection' respectively, still got them confused tho. I go back to when I saw Eugeo remebering his childhood memories before dying in front of Kirito, and the same kinda confusion struck me, and I HAD read the novels but wasn't able to remember the reasoning. Now I hope these trivial stuff don't ruin some people's immersion and motivate them to get back and watch some previous episodes to get the whole 'theme' around Alicization

If the Lightcubes are meant to have a 150 year of memories limit then how does kirito's copy flucktlight (Star King) even remember anything? Did Higa modify the lighcube by giving it extra or infinite memory capacity or did the lightcube simply accepted Star King's memory amount?

#AskGamerturk At this point, SK Kirito and SQ Asuna both spent the majority of their life in the UW (like 90%). So I wondered what could be their actual mindset after all this time and what did the king and queen think of and how do they relate to the « real world », their family, friends, and also their child Yui that they hadn’t seen for a long time now. Were they still attached to their past life since SAO, especially Kirito with his black swordsman persona (well he was 16 at the time) or did they switch into some kind of superior beings who at some point decided to exclusively live for the Underworld ? At least for Kirito, it seems the case when he states that he will « fight only for the Underworld » or even when he refers to Asuna as « Her Majesty » or « the queen » first instead of her usual name.
Apart from that, thanks a lot for those explained videos, it's alway very interesting to know more of the Sao universe for anime only people like me ! :)

The integrity knights that got their lifespan freezed by quinella should be technically still alive right?
There's plenty of hints that certain arts are not lasting and eventually fade away. And remember, while their life is frozen, they still have memory limitations and can't survive without regular memory maintenance.

Gamerturk I thought I read or heard somewhere (and I don’t remember where, so sorry about that) that the existing Integrity Knights weren’t necessarily dead, but sealed away, mostly because of what is being said here - while their lifespans have been frozen, their fluctlights had hit their maximum. This of course excludes Bercouli, Dakira, Eldrie, and Eugeo, all of whom are actually dead. That being said, dead, sealed away, I’m probably talking semantics here. Whatever it is, they’re all out of the picture by the time King Kirito and Queen Asuna left the picture.

Natsu please, you are way too excited about things that you say too much without full understanding of what you are saying which can lead to a lot of misunderstanding.
@Tin, we know some Sacred Arts fade away over time after their caster is no longer around to maintain it. And on top of that, without memory maintenance for the old Knights, they are bound to die due to memory errors even if their age remains frozen. So yes, everybody who is frozen by Kirito and/or Asuna (the only person we know is Selka) can survive due to actually being frozen, the others cannot, one way or another. But we do not know the specifics aside from the Integrity Knights order being "sealed", you can interpret that the Knights themselves are sealed frozen or the Knighthood itself, as far as I know, it refers to the Knighthood, and they banned things like age freezing by deeming it an unethical practice. So what was once the sacred Knighthood, is now just a calling like every other job. After 200 years, they are also no longer "Knights".

I really enjoyed this episode. I am into all the nerdy details so this being an exposition galore was much more enjoyable to me than it might have been to others. But I wasn't expecting to be hit with the cells this hard on this episode. It wasn't just my eyes getting weat, I actually cried tears down my face like 3 different time this episode. I couldn't hold myself together with the Eugeo memories during the ED. I'm right there with you Turk, that ED was finally well used and it made me cry almost more than Unlasting.
I really enjoyed this episode and I hyped to see what kind of preparation or cliffhanger becomes of the last episode.
I think I'm really going to buy the novels this time around.
I do have a question about that now.

Where in the story do you recommend for an Anime Only to start reading? Should I go back and read everything from V1? Stat from the Alicization Saga or go on ahead to Moon Cradle, Unital Ring and/or the Progressive novels?
Does it depend if the person is more inclined towards Action or Character Development, Lore or something else?
If you enjoyed the alicization arc of the anime then I highly recommend volumes 09 to 18 cause those volumes are basically what this season revolves around to. Moon cradle is an Alicization side story and you should pick it up only if you are interested in knowing what kirito and asuna did these 200 years in the underworld. These last couple of episodes are adapted from volume 18 of the alicization light novel titled Alicization lasting

I do have an idea of what happens in the story, obviously on the Alicization part, but not so much after that.
What I'm asking is that from the point of view of LN reader what volumes of the story are either must read, recommend or can live without. Depending a bit on genre preferences as well, since I don't have any idea if a volume is more world building or character development than another that may be more action.
My usual take is just "start where the anime left off" because I know from my own experience that your brain usually goes "I already went through all this" when you try reading things you already watched. But yeah, especially the Human Realm arc is a massive exception to that imo, with Eugeo's story becoming Kirito's journey in the anime, Eugeo only becoming a sidekick.
I'll answer it more thoroughly in the Q&A, but tl;dr is "Start with v9 and move up from there".

I doubt it. Unital Ring is not a short project like the others and MC is a massive completely unrelated tangent for UR.

On the other hand given the extreme time dilation (like the protagonist of Interstellar) during the max acceleration phase everyone that Alicia knew and love except Selka is pretty much long "dead". Which means she's dependant on Kirito for emotional support and as a frame of reference in the Real World, or hangout with Yui in ALO.

In the conversation between Higa and Star King, the anime showed the 200 year old Kirito where except for the tone of his voice and outfit, nothing seemed to change in his appearance, like a body of an old man. Did he do something like Quinella who stopped aging of herself and the integrity knights?
As far as we know, yes, they did not "age" physically.

How was Kirito able to live for 200 years and even after that he could talk simply with Higa? Why didn't his fluctlight memory limit reach its limit yet?
@@tashar02 The fluctlight limit was just a theory by Higa, it wasn't a definitive limit or anything. He said they believed it would be around that time but obviously, nobody ever made proper research on it due to lack of technology or observation potential.

The only details of the 200 years is Moon Cradle mini arc and whatever is in Unitial Ring so not much is known for happen in this period.
As Doctor said, all we know clearly is the events of Moon Cradle, and the little flashback sequence you saw in this episode. Unital Ring is expected to shed some light on some things, but dont expect them to be actual stories, more like information drops.

I haven’t read the novels so I’m not sure if these questions have been answered, nor do I have the best memory so forgive me if these Qs have been answered before, but here’s what I got:
1. If Ichemon was badly damaged by distracting Gabriel’s men while Higa went down to the cable ducts, and Niemon was boarded by Kaiyaba and nearly destroyed saving the Ocean Turtle from a bomb, and now apparently sent down to the floor to reconnect the Faster cable...
What vehicle does Alice use?
Edit: I think you touched on robots being more common in this timeline? Sorry if I missed it!
2. The female reporter questioned Rinko on the potential for fluctlights in the unskilled labor force, but it quickly turned into an argument for AI rights. I was curious on the point Rinko made about fluctlights not being able to be “mass produced” since they have to grow up, but what about time acceleration in the Underworld? Couldn’t they just do that?
3. I never once thought of Alice’s love for Kirito as romantic, more of a reverence for saving, protecting, and cherishing both her and her world, but did Alice ever consider having romantic feelings for him? I remember the anime scene in the tent where she stares into his eyes and thinks on how she doesn’t have the right to have feelings (I know she didn’t try to kiss him, just looking into his eyes) but I wasn’t for sure if she thought about it or not.
4. Does Asuna have memory flashbacks of the 200 years in the Underworld as well? What are her thoughts on the time spent there?
5. The goal of RATH was to make a bottom up AI for military purposes, and since Alice was being protected by Kirito and Rinko, does Kikuoka plan to still continue to develop more AI for that purpose? I could only assume so, but wouldn’t Rinko and Kirito just keep trying to stop him?

#AskGamerturk I didn't understand why Kiku let Alice be a real person, I mean the first goal was to create robots that can learn alone to be capable of killing people and not waste a human life, but they won't do that to Alice so what is the point of creating human robotic beings since we can have real human beings?
This episode was very awesome, Alice in the real world, the Star King with his Fluctlight copy, the Star Queen, as well, and the finale almost made me cry, because i really liked my character. 😄⭐⭐

No, only two people on Gabriel's team dived into Underworld, Vassago and Gabriel himself.

@@nylenasir3581 They never showed three bodies in the STL units, at least in the Main Control area. The bodies the enemy recovered were Gabriel's and Briggs', the latter of whom was killed in the shaft by Kikuoka. You're remembering wrong.

I am waiting for the official translation of Unital Ring. I already know the contents, being part of Wikia and all, so based on things going on right now, it's a chill story leading into Accel World. But we know things are gonna get ugly soon.

Unital Ring isn't even done yet. It'll be years before we'll that arc adapted into the anime.

Hey Gamerturk, I just have a question (the answer should be spoiler). I haven't read the LN btw.
Since Kirito now lost his memories of the 200 years in the Underworld. If he goes back to Underworld in the futur (which I believe happen), does he still have his Star King account, even without the memories ? Or he will take a fresh new account ?
The account, at least to my interpretation, should be fine as there is no "Star King" account. Kirito was only using a regular account, unlike Asuna who was using a goddess account (which is also fine as memories shouldn't really affect accounts in terms of data).
@@darkstorm2579 Yes, the account shouldn't have any problem. But he will appear in the underworld with a lot of stuff or idk what and couldn't remember what is was. It's kind of strange but I really would appreciate that.
@@davtek11 Kirito and Asuna ruled Underworld for 170 years and then disappeared for the remaining 30. Supposedly they had all records of their names erased, leaving only the Star King and Star Queen. No one in Underworld now knows that Kirito is the Star King.
Edit: As for weapons or equipment, I can see your point but from what we see in the future light novels, Kirito kept using the Night-Sky Blade and Blue Rose Sword.
