I had watched Chris Stuckmann's hilariosity review of this film and can't believe this movie exists 😂 I think it'll unfortunately become a cult film as it seems so bad its good. It was recently added to Netflix and I'm waiting for a night where I have nothing else to watch to watch it.
I think Rob Zombie has the talent to have made this a good film. I have never been a Fred Durst / Limp Bizkit fan. I applaud you for delving into actual autism versus that portrayed in this and other lacklustre films.
Thanks David, as I said the issue isn't that Moose is living with a spectrum disorder - the issue is that that's the only background (justification as Travolta says) that the character is given.
Is it weird that.... I liked "The Fanatic"? I have autism myself and I wasn't offended myself by the movie. Moose was also insane-not just autistic but that's 100% obvious.
I personally can't stand Emime. I know many think he is a God but to me he is just a bullying who puts everyone down who doesn't feel like he does. Sorry not sorry. I don't like hateful, negative people!
My boyfriend has Asperger's, so hearing from Dan's point of view was interesting. I'll have to check out his channel. This movie seems kind of interesting, even though it wasn't your fav. Seems like Travolta really tried hard to build this character.
I would add that, not uncommonly, Moose's character would have other underlying disorders as well. Unfortunately, a lot of "secondary" disorders are mistaken as just another part of the spectrum, but rather Asperger's can sometimes exasperate those conditions, when triggered. It's a dangerously common mistake to make and one that the media has no problem running with, whenever someone does turn violent. The other problem with being on the spectrum, is that different aspects of it are expressed at varying degrees and can share similarities with other disorders, too, which makes it hard to differentiate between them, like a messy Venn diagram. So, when they want to push a news story at nauseating speeds, nuance and understanding is thrown out the window and it just feels like they are more ready to incite a witch hunt, rather than try to earnestly understand and educate people. What this movie would have needed, is some way of indicating that Moose had other issues, without taking people out of the story, because it does just paint a picture that people on the spectrum are just inherently dangerous, if left unchecked. On that note, it's also hard to tell whether he had any coping support growing up (given the character's age, I doubt it) or at which point support may have fell through... The movie leaves a lot of questions that have little to nothing to do with the story.
That’s very disappointing. They could have just done a stalker fan film w/o putting the character on the spectrum. Though kind of ironic that Devon is now playing the character being stalked
I haven’t seen this film yet, but am curious to check it out. I so appreciate that you brought in Dan to provide the perspective of someone on the spectrum.
What's going to happen now is that everyone gets this confused with the Joe Spinell/Caroline Munro grindhouse classic The Fanatic from 1982 (aka The Last Horror Film, it was already getting confused with The Last Horror Movie from 2003).
A lot of people with this condition don't have anyone and it drives them even more crazy until they snap. They have a much higher suicide rate than homicide rate so imo, the blame is partly on society failing to give them the support they need.
Travolta’s portrayal of the Moose character deserves better reporting than the same-same criticism that most seem to have settled on. Not an easy role at all. And though Youd never catch me listening to Limp Bizkit, the direction of Durst here is fine for a rookie, good pacing. Interesting enough viewing I thought.
I enjoyed the movie and I know a few people are a lot like Moose...not psychotic as far as I know, but personality wise. I wonder if he based his portrayal on his son.
Its not a bad movie, it has so many problems but its watchable. Travolta's acting is well....fascinating. Off course there are better movies that dealt with stalker fans but hey you get see Travolta wearing a Jason mask trying to scare Eminem's number one fan Stan.
This role was not problematic, it was absolutely hilarious. This movie was so unfathomably awful that it became a cinematic masterpiece. It's on the same level as The Room and The Happening and I was laughing from start to finish. The shameless Limp Bizkit advertisement in the movie was also the most hilariously in your face and on the nose scene that I've ever witnessed.
I never thought I’d see a movie starring Travolta that could be any more unintentionally hilarious than Battlefield Earth...I did not think that was possible... but then, along came The Fanatic. 😂
😳 OMG!!! I fell in love with this movie...I’ve seen it over a dozen times in a few days. I was mesmerized by the story. You are right I identified as being a fan and just wanting the AUTOGRAPH! If he would of gotten it he would of backed off. Not that I would do what he did but all in all the celebrity was a bad guy. Remember the main characters are Moose and Hunter.
Hi!! OMG I love you. I hear you-Yeah it didn’t go anywhere cause for me it seemed more like a statement. Instead of cat n mouse games it was a Hunter n Moose games turned upside down or back to front.
The statement that Durst gives about why the main character has autism comes off as really ableist. Really the whole tired "crazy character is crazy cause mental disorder" is such a tired trope already (Note i have Aspergers myself)
Bizarre movie, like watching a car crash...Travolta was interesting. But my guilty pleasure of the year goes to The Intruder...crazy Dennis Quaid alone rocks the house :-D
Well you know I'm autistic I will have to look at this one yeah I have many trates of autism I have many friends too I like to think of it as tattoo which is why I had one on me. I too I'm happy with my reality. 😊 I will also give Dan's channel I look for sure.
This film will go down as the most insane performance ever, by a once A Level Star. Moose is just a dumpster of different psychiatric extremes, and intelligence levels, written for the scene at hand. It just becomes a comedy.
“The way they portray it, is a bit problematic.” Uuuuuuuuuuh “a bit problematic”? His son Jett had autism, died of a seizure, and John Travolta based Moose off his late son. It’s more than problematic. It’s offensive and soooo fucking wrong.
Hey! Hope you’re well. From what I know Moose wasn’t written based on his son since it was written many years ago and had nothing to do with Travolta. Are you saying that it’s not problematic or worse than that? I can’t tell by that comment. I would think that would make it worse? Given that he’s a psycho killer in this film.
spookyastronauts I meant as in it’s worse than problematic. Like, waaaay worse. And I thought Moose was based on John Travolta’s son Jett because that’s what I’ve been hearing from people who saw the film.

The movie had a 23 million dollar budget and made 3,153 USD from 52 cinemas! I found out about this movie from yourmoviesucksdotorg and Chris Stuckman last month.
@@spookyastronauts no it's not a PC issue. I just thought I'd include that bit so people don't think I'm having a laugh at the disabled. Fred Durst and his company Mother Fucking Cinema (MFC) provided all the laughs.
spookyastronauts oh I’ve heard. People get killed in ‘fan’ type of movies, doesn’t make them automatically horror. Crime/drama/thrillers yes but horror, I don’t think so. Similar movies aren’t to me. Would you consider One Hour Photo, The Fan, Fear, Swimfan, Play Misty For Me, The Gift and so on Horror? Stalkers, obsessed fans/people do disturbing things in these movies but doesn’t automatically make them a horror movie. So theres a hockey mask, and. No I wouldn’t call Misery a horror, psychological drama/thriller.
spookyastronauts no but haven’t seen the trailer either but from what I’ve heard it doesn’t sound like a horror movie at all. How did you watch it? Is it on streaming in Australia?
I was given it, not streaming. But just letting you know it's horror to me.. I guess it's one of those ones you can see it either way. But so many movies it's up to your own interpretation. Like what makes Neon Demon, Sleep Tight or Maniac horror? Is it blood? is it violence? Some horror movies aren't even scary. To me the vibe is very horror film and it talks a lot about horror movies within the film. hope this makes sense, you are welcome to your own opinion as always and love your comments.

The dialog is more articulate than I would expect from Durst.

I will not lie I saw/heard Limp Biskit the first time at sports and music festival in 1998. I was not a fan of Fred's.
Rob Zombie is such a hack he would have made this even worse. That would have been quite a feat but he could have done it.
Is it weird that.... I liked "The Fanatic"? I have autism myself and I wasn't offended myself by the movie. Moose was also insane-not just autistic but that's 100% obvious.
