Thanks for the comment!!! Recoating your patio with this overlay is definitely an option. What is the reason for recoating? If the original is still bonded well to the surface and you just want to update the look, all you need to do is properly clean the area and use the Sure Bond 100 primer before applying the new overlay. If the existing overlay is failing (deteriorating, peeling, flaking.....), then you should proceed with some cation. The new layer will cover the old one up just fine, but if the original is starting to come off, the new layer won't stop that from continuing to happen, and both of them will come off together. If this is the case, the best thing would be to remove the existing overlay and apply the new layer directly to the concrete. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV and please let us know if you have any other questions about your project!!
This would vary a little bit depending on the time of year. In the summer time, it's usually ready to seal with in 24hrs. If the temps are cooler, it could take 2-3 days. I'm resurfacing my old cement pool deck. After mixing about 10 half buckets using the same bucket a 1 1/2" hole was created in the bottom center of bucket. It happened in an area that was not masked and ready to be poured. Be careful not reuse a plastic bucket too many times.
So I flip houses. And this is perfect to resurface the concrete where the foundation company did repairs and filled where they did the repairs. It makes an ugly square patch. I could definitely grind that area and apply this overlay and it would make that concrete look brand new. We also can repair driveway cracks and then use this too rather than replacing the whole driveway. Could save me a ton of money. Thank you so much.
I noticed that you applied Sure Bond before the Easy Patch and then again before your first Overlay coat. Is it necessary/ recommended to apply Sure Bond again before applying the second coat of Overlay? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, we do recommend priming between each coat. This ensures a good bond, but it also makes the next coat easier to work with. If you put the next coat on without any primer, it'll suck the moisture out really fast and it's hard to keep up with. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!
Thanks for the comment!!! With proper prep work & priming, this product will last at least 10 - 15 years in that situation. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!!
Would I be able to use the overly product to set electric floor heating mats in ? is is for a garage 12 x 20. The mats are 1/8 in thick . I wanted to lay 1/4 inch rigid panel insulation under the electic mats also but will probably delete that. Too thck end product and prone to problems - cracking.
Thanks for the comment! This product would work fine for the top layer to create the look that you're after, but I wouldn't recommend it for setting the mat. You would be better off with a mix that can go a little thicker. I would look at this as a two step process; step one would be setting the mat, followed by a thinner layer to make the floor look good. You could use our Stamped Overlay for setting the mat, it can be applied up to 1/2" if needed. Another option would be our Flat Top floor leveler, if the floor is completely flat, this would be the easiest way of going about it. The biggest challenge with this idea would be getting a good bond to the original concrete. Great video, my house has an interior epoxy overlay that has developed some cracks over the years, what product do you recommend to fill those to prevent them from blistering? Is there a specific caulk I should use? Thank you!
Thanks for the comment! As for a specific caulking, I would see if the manufacture of the original coating has any recommendations. Clear 100% silicone could work depending on how thick the repair needs to be. You could also apply a new topcoat of our Rock Hard Urethane, it would freshen up the existing coating and fill in the cracks. Some of this would depend on what kind of coating is there, and how deep the cracks are. At the very least, sanding the current epoxy would be required to get the new coat to bond. Any info on the exact epoxy used for the floor would be helpful. Thanks for watching!!!!
Doing 400sq ft over stampable overlay tomorrow. How many guys do you recommend to help and how long does it take until needs stamped? Not sure if I need to worry about stamping as we pour or what
It all depends on the experience level of your crew & what brand of overlay mix you're using. If this is new to you guys, I would say you should have at least 4-5 guys for that. 1 to mix, 1 to take the overlay from the mixing area to the slab, and 2-3 to put it down & stamp. The Deco-Crete Stamp Overlay is usually ready to stamp within an hour in the summertime. Afternoons can go even faster if the slab has been sitting in the sun all day and the slab temp is high. A big thing is to get down fast so you have plenty of time to stamp. Kind of like pouring concrete, taking too long to put it down will get you behind and you'll be chasing it the rest of the way. I'll leave a link to our stamped overlay video at the bottom. Hopefully this helps. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!! ua-cam.com/video/ttIRdTJ6KDY/v-deo.html

How many coats needed for a 1/2 inch resurfacing? can this product work? or do you have any other solution? my project is to resurface an outdoor patio in Florida that is going to have an outdoor kitchen on it. Thanks!
Trowel overlay can be applied up to 1/8th inch per coat. you could do multiple coats to get to a 1/2in build or you could use easy patch or stamp overlay which can be applied at 3/8 in per coat and then finish with trowel overlay.
Thanks for the comment! 60-70 degrees is ideal, but you can apply the overlay from 50-80 degrees. Staying out of direct sunlight make the overlay easier to work with. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, this can be used on driveways! It's hard to give an exact amount of time that it'll last. If everything is done properly, you will get at least 15 years out of it. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!
This is a common question we get, and unfortunately the paint would need to removed before applying the overlay. This system is not designed to bond to paint, and the paint could cause a weak spot. If the paint ever decided to come loose, the overlay would not hold it down and it would all peel up together. Thanks for watching!!!

Winters. How do these products do with ice melt in winters? Does the sealing process make it more slippery in winter? Also, how often does this need resealed?
These products perform similar to concrete when it comes to ice melt, the sealer does protect it but you should still be cautious. Depending on what sealer is used, it can add slipperiness, however deco grip can solve this problem. Penetrating sealers like D-Shield will not add to slipperiness. www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/sealer-additives/deco-grip www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/water-based-sealers/d-shield

Can Deco-Crete Trowel Overlay be applied over my existing surface or will I have to remove it before applying your product?
Yes Deco-Crete Trowel overlay will work fine as long as there is not a heavy buildup of sealer. You would just need to thoroughly pressure wash the surface and apply Sure Bond 100 before the overlay.
I have a patio that i am wanting to do something with. It is very rough and uneven. Would the product to level this out be the same as the one that you used or do I need a different one?
Thanks for the comment! This overlay is designed for use in freeze/thaw environments. It is also UV stable and can be used for driveways. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!
Thanks for the comment!!! I'm not familiar with mocrocement. Is that the name of a product, or are you referring to microcement or micro-topping? The product in this video is a thin overlay, and it would be considered a micro-topping, but it's a bit thicker than our normal micro-topping. This lets you create more texture for outdoor projects. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV!!!
D1 is lower viscosity for better penetration. It also has an active water repellant ingredient which makes it a penetrating and topical sealer all in one. It also has a lower sheen than the two sealers mentioned, which gives it a very natural look. Check out this comprehensive video on D1: ua-cam.com/video/u5RNPrg-8wE/v-deo.html

Yes you can overlay on top of stamped concrete. you will need to relevel/flatten the area first. we would recommend using stamped overlay for the re-leveling coat. www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/overlay-mixes/deco-crete-stamp-overlay-mix

Thanks for the comment! That's a little bit of a gray area. The recommended thing would be to remove the tile and apply the overlay to bare concrete. That being said, there are certain situations where it would work to go over tile. Getting the overlay to bond would be the first thing. This would depend on what type of tile you're dealing with (ceramic or VTC), and if you're able to grind it down to knock off the finish & open up the pores. The other thing to remember is that the overlay is only as good as what you put it on. Even if you get a good bond, there's always a chance that the tiles could loosen up down the road, and the overlay would come up with them. Going over tile would require some extra steps & and there are no guarantees. If this is for a DIY project & you understand what the downsides are, it can definitely be an option. If this is a job for a customer, we recommend removing the tile for long-lasting results. Thanks for watching!!!!

My contractor, when applying the cement overlay, mixed the quikcrete concrete bonding adhesive WITH the white cement, and then applied it over the grinded/sanded concrete slab (cleaned of course). Is that wrong? Will that create some problems for my floor in the future?
Thanks for the comment!!! This would depend on overlay product they used. Some overlay systems require adding polymer (bonding agent) to the overlay mix along with water. The Deco-Crete overlay mix we used in this video is a just add water mix, and the liquid polymer is use as the bonding primer. The method they use is not necessary wrong, but if the mix had dry polymer and directions said to just add water, the mix may be hard to work with, but I haven't seen this cause any problems down the road. The only way to know for sure would be to contact the manufacturer of the overlay and see what they say about it. Thanks for checking out our channel👍
It's not commonly used on bathroom walls, but it would definitely work. Use the same Sure Bond 100 for a primer just like in the video. You could even use some grout tape to create a tile pattern if you wanted. For an application like that, we would also recommend using some kind of high-performance coating to protect it instead of concrete sealer.
@@DecoCreteTV typo. Yes microcement. Thanks for responding.
How long would this last on a driveway?
It's hard to give an exact amount of time on a driveway, but the general life expectancy for this product is 10-15 years. Thanks for watching!!!!
I would like to use a product thick enough to stamp, got any suggestions? Possibly with vinal so it doesn't crack.

Here is a tutorial video as well: ua-cam.com/video/ttIRdTJ6KDY/v-deo.html
How does the D1 sealer compare to Super Diamond Clear or Brickfrom GemSeal?
D1 is lower viscosity for better penetration. It also has an active water repellant ingredient which makes it a penetrating and topical sealer all in one. It also has a lower sheen than the two sealers mentioned, which gives it a very natural look. Check out this comprehensive video on D1: ua-cam.com/video/u5RNPrg-8wE/v-deo.html
@@DecoCreteTV so how would I use this to fix my porch that has a slight slip front to back of porch. So the rain doesn't run off the front and holds on the porch. If this makes sense
Can u give tell me how to fix this
can you do acid stain on concrete overlay?
Absolutely! You may want to test for color first, it may not react the same as a concrete slab.
Who would I contact in the Memphis area to level my driveway? Standing water issues where concrete was poorly poured.
See if there are any resources in Memphis on concretenetwork.com good luck!
I have a old concret stamp can I put over lay in top
Yes you can overlay on top of stamped concrete. you will need to relevel/flatten the area first. we would recommend using stamped overlay for the re-leveling coat. www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/overlay-mixes/deco-crete-stamp-overlay-mix
Can you change the level of the slab and if so, how much?
check out this video on fixing the slope ua-cam.com/video/1o7MVXmlGkY/v-deo.html
Can this be used as a finished interior floor surface?
Yes it will.
how long does it take to dry?
1-3 hours to recoat. 24 hours for full use. 👍
Is this similar to self-leveling concrete?
No this is not self-leveling. we have a product called flat-top that is: www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/overlay-mix/flat-top
Could you give a material cost budget and a time budget?
Can you use this over ceramic tile indoors?
You should remove the tile first.
If I tape grout lines, how long should I wait to pull the tape? like once it's tacky?
once it is all cured out, you can tell it changed to a lighter color.
A good look at the finished job would have been nice
Where can I buy these products?
www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/trowel-overlay/stamp-mix
If stamping is it necessary to do two coats?
Make sure to use stamped overlay mix: www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/overlay-mix/deco-crete-stamp-overlay-mix Two coats are not necessary.
Do they sell a more lighter overlay my driveway between the sidewalk and street is more of a white color cement not grey.
There is a white version of this product available www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/trowel-overlay/stamp-mix you can also use integral color packs to match the overlay here is the color chart www.deco-cretesupply.com/sites/default/files/2022-04/35380%20Deco-Crete%20Yard%20Pack%20Card_WEBCARD_HR_0.pdf
Can i do a drive way with it
Yes, this will work on a driveway. Thanks for watching!!!!
Can u do thus over tile
What tape to use to stick to the brick?
DOLPHIN ROUGH SURFACE EXTERIOR TAPE
www.deco-cretesupply.com/products/applicators-marking-measuring-safety-products/rough-surface-exterior-tape
Cost per bag??
We call it “Flashing” not false set
Or just “Flash”
Thanks for the comment!!! We have heard people calling it "Flashing". There are a few terms describing this as well, "False Set" just seems to be most common around the industry. We always say it doesn't mater what you call it, as long as you understand it, lol. Thanks for watching Deco-Crete TV👍
can you make good money doin this
很好用,支持
Why wouldn’t you show the finished product?
@mackin800 There is a finished shot in the intro, it's only for a few seconds, but it does show the final outcome. Thanks for checking out our channel!!!
There is a guy on youtube says resurfacing always cracks and does not adhere to existing concrete
买了,孩子很喜欢吃
Hardly looks like or sounds like a DIY project'
We rate this a 4/5 on the DIY meter! Not an easiest DIY job, but capable for those up to the challenge!
Time wasted for 45 sec intro, but then the next 45 secs redeems himself with UPFRONT MATERIALS LIST! Thumbs UP! Now back to the video...
Thanks for the comment!!
While I appreciate your video, it was very hard to follow you because you talk very fast and you don't explain the steps properly for people like me who have no idea what you're talking about
Thanks for the feedback!!!
What's up guys is this a looney tune video.
What's up!!! We're all about the looney tunes😂😂😂
You're so close to being a professional, but you are not
Thanks for the feedback!!! Was there anything specific? We would love to hear any suggestions that might help make our videos better. Thanks for watching👍
Great video!👍
Thank you!!!👍
My contractor, when applying the cement overlay, mixed the quikcrete concrete bonding adhesive WITH the white cement, and then applied it over the grinded/sanded concrete slab (cleaned of course).
Thanks for checking out our channel👍
is this ok to use on drywall in bathroom?
It's not commonly used on bathroom walls, but it would definitely work. Use the same Sure Bond 100 for a primer just like in the video. You could even use some grout tape to create a tile pattern if you wanted. For an application like that, we would also recommend using some kind of high-performance coating to protect it instead of concrete sealer. I'll leave a few links to some other videos about grout tape & concrete coatings. Thanks for watching!!!
