I’ve heard landing and taking off in Reno has a lot of turbulence because of the wind and the mountains. Is it the same for Lake Tahoe or does Lake Tahoe have less?
I have not personally flown into The Airport up at South Lake Tahoe yet but I am ready to try it, just need to find someone who is flying in and out to go there. I do need to get back up to Reno for a updated video there soon! Thanks for your comment.
Grew up in Reno, seems always windy...There have been times we have taken off East to West on passenger jets on the shorter runway the winds were so bad...Your flight could not have been more than 25 feet or so before the go around was initiated.
Thanks Gary for your comment. I personally never got to take off or land east to west but I have seen it happen while I was working there. I do miss that area.
Pyramid Lake, North East of Reno, NV. Hope that helps. It’s on or part of a Native American / Indian Reservation, I believe, I have been told this about at least for fishing there, Nevada fishing license won’t work there.

I did not think it was that bad, but the area is known for gusty winds, which is why we had to do a fly around. The decents into Reno were the roughest parts due to turbulence.

We did a go around flying into Reno. Actually flew over our house in Spanish Springs 😂

Them winds roll off the the sierra

Thanks barDown76 for your comments. Yeah the winds sure do come off the Sierra Nevada range and yes the lake is pyramid lake.

UA-cam cut it short that is why I made the continuation of the landing. I did not like that either, sorry!
Its always windy in Reno during the afternoon. Its caused by the Washoe Zephyr winds.
That is true, most flights land it well but this one had a bad gust come up last minute that made them do the flying around.
I went to the air races and it was SUPER windy! They canceled the last 4 of the day’s races because of it.
