- In this video I teach you how to adjust your Avid BB7 Brakes on your mountain bike. Mine are the Avid BB7 mountain edition. These are some of the best mechanical brakes on the market, but they can be a pain in the rear if you don't know how to adjust them properly. The main steps to this process are to reset your barrel adjuster, align the caliper on the rotor, adjust the brake pads and then fine tune with the barrel adjuster on the brake lever again.

You can adjust the brake lever reach with the set screw close to the hinge of the lever. Screw in to make the lever close to the handle bar in normal position.
Good video 👍👍
Thank you! Glad you liked it
Do you have a version without music. It distracts from the good things you are saying.
Caliper, not caliber
Thats not rust thats brown dirt stuck to chain lube. It just needs a good cleaning with WD40 and some clean rags or kitchen towels and then a few drops of fresh lube.
Great video great explaining without waffling.
that looks kinda squishy to me
i wouldve replaced the cable
Very clear and helpful. Back brake is working so well now that I will have to adjust the front, too, which I thought was in fine form.
Thanks,
Alex
so much simpler than my bb5s
Which direction does the arrow on the IS mount point to? Direction of travel?
Thank you. Easy job when one has clear instructions!
That chain is almost as rusty as mine.
you, my friend, saved the day on our Cannondale MTB tandem!
Excellent video
Thank you! Glad it helped
Really clear concise vid. Thanks!
well done young man
great and easy to learn!
Damn, this was perfect... thanks dude.
I put these on my surron x low maintenance & brakes really well
A rare clear video....thx
Excellent. Thank you.
I don't understand how you know when the red thingy hits the disc
Front brake is easier because you can see how much space is between the rotor and pads.
For the rear brake you can tighten both inboard and outboard adjusters all the way tight. Then back off 2 clicks one side at a time until you don't hear the rotor rubbing against the pads anymore.
No one gonna talk about the rusty chain
Is your entire family making comments here? Lol.
Most people coming here have never worked on these disc brakes, so don't be afraid to be even more didactic. Use a pointer even to not block the view. cheers.
Yeah buddy your hand is in the way big time, plus you should show me this T5 tool b4.
