I love how natural it all feels - the plants, the dark green steel, the warm wood, the light white floors and walls with pops of bright red or orange with the lamp and desk. It feels like every piece has a personality and a story in the best way! If this apartment was a person i would want to be their friend ❤
You can tell Mariana was very conscious about her material palette. From the exposed brick 🧱 & insulation panels, to the patinaed furniture and sleek metal staircase; they all complement each other to create a vibrant and warm living space. The loft also invites light and air to circulate throughout her home, avoiding any feelings of claustrophobia or discomfort. Well done 👍🏿
I absolutely love the idea of "bathtub" spaces! it's so important to sometimes stop searching for what is "practical" and think about what actually makes you happy.
This has to be one of my most favorite designs on this channel. It is inviting, unlike some spartan and minimalist designs I have seen here that lack warmth or whimsy. It's such a great use of space and combining various materials that all work well together. This is a place I could easily live in and find happiness as I grew up in the forest and the colors I love are employed here in this design. Well done!!!
Most of the last episodes were mostly luxury apartments with a high budget over 50 sqm big. I did not like them because it seemed more like a show off (oh look I have a Mahagoni floor in my 55sqm apartment in downtown Paris) This is the content I enjoy way more because it is realistic and worked out with the material she already had. I love it please more of that.
I agree ! I find it’s a shame to show an appartement bigger than 50 sqm on a chanel dedicated to SMALL homes ! I am french and I just want to tell : 50-55 sqm in PARIS it’s a HUGE size !
I am absolutely obsessed with this apartment, especially the loft...but her wearing socks on that open staircase abd loft had me anxious as heck. I love the look of the loft as is, but my clumsy self would absolutely find a way to bite it on the loft and go flying under that open raining, so I'd have to add another bar to the balcony or maybe glass? The plants tho. 😍
I would have made that platform a bit wider at least, so I would have a place to put my feet, not perch on a little seat on the edge. Apart from that, I would love to live there.
What I love about this apartment is that she clearly enjoys living and spending time here. There are so many features that are just so cool and unique, but not just for the sake of being cool but to be enjoyed.
This is really just.. absolutely unspeakably perfect and beautiful. I feel like we have been granted a very special visit directly into her psyche. Also, it's really funny that she keeps bonking into that one plant repeatedly but she won't move it.
This is so clever and I appreciate that it’s warm, not sterile, unlike many of the other minimalist designs. Feels like a real person lives there. Well done!!
This is exceptionally beautiful because of the amount of character that it has. My only question is about clothes storage actually--I noticed some hangers by the bed but was wondering if there was clarity on where that predominately happened.... For some reason I feel like this space is a maximalist space in terms of its decor, use of color and nature, but minimalist in terms of other things that can be viewed as more commercial...love it.
I also noticed that they didn't show where she stores her clothes. Presumably they are folded and placed in the under stairs storage. Perhaps it wasn't filmed because it was a little untidy? For 1 person it really is a beautiful space. For a couple additional storage space would probably be needed.
What a space. “Bath tub spaces” is my new go to design phrase. I wonder about clothes and food preparation storage as well. I suspect the savings from the place could allow for external storage and services (e.g., meal subscriptions/delivery) to fit into the budget. I would like to see how this space works for someone over 6 months though.
I love that red desk on the gangway. Yes, it’s quite narrow but it’s so long that I’m sure it would function quite well for work. But most of all, I love that the space is not over-curated. I’m tired of these spaces that leaves one feeling he must dress to match the furniture, or buy books of only the right colour, lest the entire composition be ruined. Oh horror of horrors, I bought a toaster and didn’t bring my colour swatches, now I’ve ruined everything.
1. I love her “bathtub space” idea. We should make room in our homes for things that aren’t 100% strictly necessary to live, but nonetheless make living more enjoyable! 2. She must not have cats with all those precariously placed plants and tempting gangways 😂
Even if it is not my kind of space, and I would have made other structural choices in such a small place, I find cool and inspiring the fact that she is planning it for her self, her habits and needs making also not ordinary choices to make it her home.
Colorful, creative, suited to her needs and styles. I loved that she didn't break the bank with furnishings: the second-hand rug, the worn kitchen table, the couch pull-out bed. So many creative ideas for small spaces.
Well, it took me a while to appreciate this one, differently from more "immediate" ones I saw on this channel, but the more I watched the more it made sense. It has a lot of character. I wouldn't keep all those books outside a cabinet or something and the air conditioner right above the bed though. The bathroom is relaxing just by watching it and that sliding window really smart. And there's a lot of room for plants, which is something I definitely appreciate.
I love everything about this beautiful apartment! So much light, such clever use of the loft space, and wonderfully inviting. Recently the content has been quite minimalist, with a show-home feel to things, where this episode feels like someone could comfortably live there.
Goodness, this my favorite space yet! The layout, the colors, the personal construction of furnishings… just wow. I think my favorite little detail is the tiny triangle window by the bed, I noticed it in the image prior to renovation and knew it must have been kept!
Enhorabuena, Mariana. Sigo el canal desde casi sus orígenes, y el apartamento de mi ciudad resulta ser uno de los mejores. Paso por la puerta con cierta frecuencia sin saber que hay este tesoro escondido. Me encanta.
That dark green/forest green and reds sets the whole space off. Beautifully-designed. Looks very lived-in and very homely. She's a talented architect and as an urban planner, I appreciate her mission of helping to revitalize old buildings. Might be amongst my NTS favourites. Thank you.
Insanely stunning! This is one of the most intentional spaces I have ever seen. The open loft makes me nervous being a mum- but it’s great to bring out every adults inner child ✨ She’s truely an artist, well done 🌌
Im currently in the mist of renovating a flat, i bought in Athens.. This has given me so many amazing ideas, i do have a lot more space, but utilising that space well and keeping in mind, that objects can and should have more than one use is life changing really. Everything in the flat had a symbiotic feel to it, so clean, fresh, radiant and inviting. ❤❤
perfect. i remember living up in the ash tree, reading library books. i love the choice of materials, the warm plywood, green painted steel, green tile, red lamp, orange translucent desk top, artwork. for what would be a sterile space to me, this made it inviting & quite livable. the sleeping nook w/ skylight is a dream of mine now. prior, i liked sleeping in a closet. i sleep on the floor now. the open kitchen w/ the larger table, smaller couch ratio is so functional. i do cook a lot, but my restrictive galley kitchen has taught me to do w/ less. perhaps the only modifications i would add would be some clear 1/2 panels opposite the desk as guard rail as i am older & have less balance than i used to, fear of falling. as pretty as small tile is, i want larger tile in the bathroom as i dislike cleaning grout. although i am reducing my clothes, i too, am not sure how i would fit what i currently own in the space. i can always add a wardrobe. i use a 5 drawer filing cabinet for a dresser, a couple of under couch drawers & a half closet. i was planning on letting go 33% more but could eliminate 50%.
This place has so many brilliant ideas. Best of all, it is not a bland/bland white box but actually truly reflects her PERSONALITY and creativity without feeling too cluttered either. I love it!

Love the layout of the flat and how she combined a lot of white with a lot of colours and details, that really makes it special and interesting. BIG transformation to the before.
This is amazing! What i love about this one as it is truly someones home. She is clearly not a minimalist and it feels so liveable. Love the stairs incorporating the cabinet and the cosy bedroom.
One of the coolest spaces I've seen yet and so optimally designed! The bed nook is perfect and I also now want a bed where I see the stars! The loft office balcony is pure art. I'd hang a hammock chair from it for extra cosy seating in the main area 😁
A very aesthetically pleasing appartement. It looks very warm and cosy. I do have quite some practical concerns though… the kitchen would not be functional for me personally… and even though the loft/desk looks cool, I would live in constant fear of something falling off 😂
So many clever elements in this beautiful home. The desk material is genius. Letting light in during the day, as well as being a light at night while also providing a place to work.
Love the design but would not prefer to have the gangway open on both sides. If I am not carefully, i could slip and fall from the mezzanine to the ground floor. Same thing with small desk on the side of the gangway. My laptop and phone may slip and fall below. It would be a constant safety hazard/concern for me. Love the sleeping space too. It will be wonderful, except during the hot months. You basically get "roasted" by the harsh sunlight. Love the overall color pallete. It feels cozy and warm.
On all NTS-Videos I've watches, this is the most beautiful appartment. It's not only esthetic, but also colored an alive in stead of this white clean style. Best is the working space
Now I need to get my hands on a copy of The Baron In the trees by Italo Calvino! Hearing Mariana explain her inspiration for the feel of her home really struck me and I could feel the magic of the atmosphere she has created, very inspiring!!
I really like the cabinet-stairs design, a superb display of design and functionality. Like the warm tones of the house and how every space is well-demarcated without loosing the flow. Good job!
This is amazing to me! Having watched so many NTS videos, this one opened my eyes once again how a small cramped space can be transformed into something fun to live in. Thank you!
Finally a small space filled with character and not only very minimalistic style, which makes sense when it comes to small space, but in this case it feels so much nicer to live in.
Its a very cozy and warm space. I love every part of this apartment. And to sleep under the moonlight & stars is a great idea to treat that ceiling window. Love this one.
I am absolutely amazed, this is really a dream treehouse in the middle of the city. I love all of the red, yellow, orange, green details and the steel objects mixed with plywood! I just wonder how long it takes to remove the dust from all of the corners 🤣
I really like the last comment: double or triple usage! I love the bookshelf on the stairs, the windows and colors (from the carpets especially) and the idea of collecting art from friends:)
I love it! Contrary to the minimalist and white interior trends, this house features colors and texture! This has got to be my favorite house on this channel. 😍
Spain is a fairly warm climate, and hot air rises, so the apartment should shed heat fairly well through summer. Winters might get a bit chilly, but unlikely to be too bad; enough to require an extra blanket at night and maybe a coat, probably not enough to need much more. If the windows face the right direction, the sun in winter should do most of the work in keeping the space comfortable.
@@l.a.3479, the window positions should give some nice cross-breeze options. Then there’s always the option of sleeping downstairs, either on the couch or just straight on the nice cool floor.
Your description of the weather in Madrid is just wrong. Extremely hot summers, so unless there's proper insulation that place will feel like can oven, and cold winters, not Mediterranean cold. She must have insulation to be able to live there. There's a reason the saying goes Madrid has 9 months of winter and 3 months of hell.
This feels nostalgic. It reminds me of the attic Kevin in Home Alone was punished in as well as his tree house. I always loved the idea of an attic and tree house ever since. Great job as usual, the Spanish never disappoint.
I like that they maximized the space with multi functional forniiture and at the same time it has personalized details in every corner of the apartment
Lovely design. The living room unit and stairs are gorgeous. I just prefer a less 'busy' appearance. I would also paint the kitchen units white to amplify the light coming in from the window... all personal taste, I agree. Thank you for showing. G Ire

Same!. It's an accident waiting to happen with a long and awkward fall down that's you're not getting up from easily.
I got anxious as well. But the roof is probably in a low ancle. So I don't think it is dangerous, when you look at it from another perspective

This feels nostalgic. It reminds me of the attic Kevin in Home Alone was punished in as well as his tree house. I always loved the idea of an attic and tree house ever since. Great job as usual, the Spanish never disappoint.
Very electic yet livable, functional. Love her design philosophy
Hands down my favorite one. That bed nook??? THE. BEST.
The personality, the quantity and the quality of the details in this project are amazing!
This is definitely one of my favourite small homes. So much light and so cozy
"Bathtub spaces" -- really smart and visually rich term!
a truly Never Too Small project, this feels truly inspiring in the sense of the original videos here. Enjoyed it.
The bedroom is the best part. So cosy! ❤
I like that they maximized the space with multi functional forniiture and at the same time it has personalized details in every corner of the apartment
Congrats to the architect for the creative items and double use of surfaces!
Lovely design. The living room unit and stairs are gorgeous. I just prefer a less 'busy' appearance. I would also paint the kitchen units white to amplify the light coming in from the window... all personal taste, I agree. Thank you for showing. G Ire
Thank you for sharing your designed space. Love the sleeping area in the loft, so much of this space is truly inspiring.
Stunning! I love the selective use of green and other colors too.
The coolest loft apartment I've ever seen!!! Bravo to this amazing architect, what a vision
What a gorgeous apartment! I could see myself living here. It’s cosy and functional and the two open levels make it feel so spacious.
This is spectacularly good - such a wonderful use of space, real thought has gone into this. There's nothing I would change.
This is definitely the type of loft apartment I want to build for myself. So beautiful.
