Dolly de leon was robbed of her moment. She should have been nominated for her performance, her performance was much closer to reality, human nature and to the truth, instead of that highly fictionalised queen character living in a very entitled and subjective universe that's so far from even being relatable - kinda summarised it all, for real.

Totally agree with you Sav. That is Hollywood for us. They value people who pull audiences and money than talent. I hate to say this but Angela Bassett did not deserve to be nominated. She’s actually the laughing stock of the black actors (see video of Keke Palmer) because she is such a one dimensional actress. Is she good? Yes of course ! But was she awards material? Perhaps…if no one else was better than her.
@@sevraonic8656 Dolly is probably 6th in nomination behind Stephanie or Hong, there's no way you could beat Jamie after EEAAO juggernaut of support from WGA, PGA, DGA and SAG, Jamie just ride with that giant wave of EEAAO passion and EEAAO made $108M to date, although Triangle has been nominated for Picture, it doesn't have much huge support and giant of passion of EEAAO

I believe oscars is still the most prestigious award there is overall and a stiffer competition judged by literally thousands of voters from academy branches in over 80 countries. Cannes has its merit too, and its a different format anyway and the winners there are judged by few people.
