Wow! Just became interested in bikes on my 60th birthday a couple of months ago. Your skill is phenomenal! If I can just keep the bike up, I'll be happy. Lol. Thanks for showing what these machines can do.
I've always had the highest amount of respect for motorcycle officers! The skills and control level amaze me. Law enforcement is already a difficult job but on a bike it has to take it up several notches! Stay safe and thank for all you do.
Yeah they're not great of motorcycle riders. Outrun them on lesser bikes many a time. And it's not just me, many motorcyclists are better than them, just like many shooters are better them if you go visit them at a gun range you'll see. Many carry weapons, ride bikes, etc. Not because they're good at it but their job requires them to.

I’m a cop in my cruiser right now. I’m looking to buy a 2012 R1200RT after my R Nine T got rear ended and totaled at a stop light on the way to EV Room training. Awesome! Thanks for recording and sharing that experience. Big props to your buddy for pushing that Concours around the cone course; I'm sure he loved the track portion. I don't think I'd try it on my 2009 C14. Hopefully I can get my 2003 R1150RTP in decent shape this spring and I am hoping to participate in some of the local moto-rodeos. I'm federal LEO, but not in a motor unit, so I am limited to the ones that are open to civilians. I am eager to see how well I can get my R1150RTP through one of those courses. Thank you very much for watching! The Concourse is a big pig in the cones. I’m always impressed when guys can hustle them through the cones. They are rockets on the track though. Have fun with that 1150!
Practice is so important! Thank you for your service up in Canada! That’s awesome you got to be on motors 21 years! That’s a long run. Thank you for watching!
Awesome video motor man loved it you represented the department and what you guys do from day to day very well. Outstanding maneuvering through cone patterns outstanding especially since you were narrating the whole time, excellent job. Thank you for your service I’m glad the higher ups allowed you to take us on your training, videos like this allows the public to see where their tax money is going and they’ll have more pride in knowing that they are a part of protecting and serving. I feel awful after watching this and realizing how hard the regular uturn was for me in the MSF course lol!!! Crazy skills to get through what you’re doing there!!
To answer your question, it all looks cool! Maybe this would be an excessive expectation, but I think we should all be able to ride like that before we are allowed on the street. Very, very impressive! Thank you so much for the upload.
I was impressed at how much respect you afforded your instructors. I've been riding on and off for 40+ years and I'm still learning each time I'm out on the asphalt. It would be nice if you were to narrate in more detail as you are riding your training pattern. Also, If you would also express what you're thinking if your not in an ideal alignment for a particular maneuver. Thanks.
Love it. I went through the CA CHP Motor Academy back in 1988 and continued as a Motor Officer and motor training officer until I made Sergeant in ‘96 (Santa Ana Police Department). In 2003 I came back to traffic as a Commander. I retired as a Homicide/Gang Homicide Commander and Assistant SWAT Team Commander in 2012. Riding a motor was by far my favorite assignment.
Very useful and important video, thanks for taking the effort and sharing. Regarding the slow cone work, if you ever get a chance to do something similar again, it would be really useful to see a video of the rider as they carry out the drills just to see their head and body movements. Thanks again, appreciate it!!
You are a great rider. I have learned that oncoming traffic will cut across the apex so I make turns so I am nearest the shoulder at the apex. Still thankful I am alive watching that old man cutting into my lane didn't catch my left jug. There wasn't 1 millimeter of room as I looked down at his car passing me.
Awesome! - thanks so much for sharing - particularly the low speed in the cones, it was real treat getting that first person perspective. I wish I could have a go there.
You’re riding is incredible. I wish I could ride like that. The slow stuff blows me away. That’s were the ok riders become good riders and throwing the pick out at 80 mph without triggering the abs is really classy stuff. I wish I could get the training you guys have.
Thank you very much! It was a great day of training. Sharpening skills and doing things we don’t often do is a total blast! Thank you for watching and the comment. It’s appreciated.
Man that looks like fun!! Don’t you just love being able to show up and practice and the cones are already set up and waiting for you? Thanks for sharing this brother. Be safe out there and thank you for your service.
I am impressed with the bike and your skill level. I have ridden an BMW only once. The driveshaft made the feel so different. The back of the bike would rise up instead of going down. And they are so quiet. No vibration to speak of. Smooth. Well made motorcycle. STAY SAFE! This track seems very nice. A safe place to practice and learn. I did enjoy it. THANKS....
The unpredictability of the 'criminal element' in that car stop was unnerving for me! That would have been too close for me in the real deal, but then again, I'm one of those that goes the other direction! Thanks for your service!!!!

This is my first adventure with you. I enjoyed the ride along I enjoyed the commentary the way you talk to us through the turns on the course that you guys do. Awesome! I don’t ride bikes anymore because of a serious crash when I was just turning 18 but I can still remember the unique feeling, the adrenaline and everything else that only a motorbike can offer. Loved to watch your ride though, very cool!

I am surprised to see so few views for such a great video. Excellent work, both riding and filming. Thank you for the insight into slow speed control, the more input from you eith regard to speed, clutch control, body position etc the better.
I have watched NZ police do a similar ride through cones and I find it remarkable to see the accuracy combined with speed on large and relatively heavy bikes. I know that the NZ officers are happy with a move away from the BMW and Honda's that they have been riding in recent years with a switch to the Yamaha MT-09.
Holy smokes! I live in south Salem and have ridden my '18 RT past there on the Aumsville Highway hundreds of times. I never knew a track was there. I'm envious of your training and skills. My next training is in July up at Pat's Acres. Thanks for sharing your great video. Stay safe!

Thank you for watching! They are very good bikes. I don’t have much negative to say. If you can do your own maintenance they aren’t too expensive to own. We have 2015’s now and before that had 2009’s. That boxer motor is a tractor but it does well.
Truly awesome video. Your handling skills are superb...found myself actually getting a little dizzy as you manipulated those tight turns through the cones lol. Thanks officer for sharing your bike handling l skills and a big thumbs up and appreciation to ALL you officers for your outstanding service. God bless you all and keep safe.
I like all of the variations in those cone patterns. I am a motor officer down in the SF Bay area, and we don't train with that amount of patterns. The most valuable training I would say we get is during the practice day(s) prior to motor competitions (before Covid...). Good video! Stay safe!!
Thank you Adam! Appreciate you checking out my video. We do a lot of cone work here. Once a month training plus a 3 day training/competition every year. We get less of the high speed training that’s in the second half of this video. It was a great day though. Hope I can get some more training like this next summer. Stay Safe down there in Cali!
Dork in the Road thank you. Funny part is I’m not even close to the top as far as rider skill and ability in my peer group at work. So many riders that are better/faster/more skilled than me in my profession. Lots of practice, lots of training, and I’m still having fun so that’s what matters at the end of the day. I don’t have to be the best to find enjoyment in it.
Thank you Dork for leading us to Mclovin. This fantastic video definitely inspired me to keep on with the skills drills. I'm comfortable handling my bike but this shows how much room for growth I have!
Well done, really enjoyed video. I am from South Africa and also ride a BMW R1200RT, really awesome bike. Have installed the strobe light fixture at mirrors without blue lights but use the amber ones. I am part of the Think Bike Marshalls and our training is relatively similiar to what you did but without the high speed and traffic stops. We mostly escort cyclists and runners, keeping them safe from other road users. Anyway, thanks for the very intertaining video, looking forward to more.
Good to see you young guys need help standing one of these bikes up. I am 72, have 80,000miles on a 2014 RT and I was worried I was getting weak. Cool video!
what I like is the ability of the training centers to keep conducting training. '92 I completed the advanced riders course and here we are in 2021 I will take the beginners course and up---times change; fundamentals may stay the same but ones approach or mere perception based on previous training can become an impediment to staying "current" not a motors person just a huge fan (the near chips soundtrack intro nice lol) Also liking the way you motors units ride in pairs or close proximity like 'wingwo/man' great video!
I am a former LEO (never a motor) but have a 2006 R1200RT and now a 2019 R1250RT... Enjoyed the video, particularly the “as you saw it” perspective... Stay safe out there brother... #backtheblue

I am surprised to see so few views for such a great video. Excellent work, both riding and filming. Thank you for the insight into slow speed control, the more input from you eith regard to speed, clutch control, body position etc the better.
Thank you for watching and for the compliment. It was fun to ride that day and I enjoyed editing it for others to enjoy.
Stay safe!
Have fun at Pats Acres! That’s a fun track. I’ve ridden it a few times with Team Oregon. Thank you for watching!
THIS WAS SOOOOO AWESOME! Thank you for taking the time to post this.
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching it!
Found you through dork. Didn't know you were a superhero 💯 Thanks for keeping us safe!
Thank you for stopping by! Appreciate you watching!
You make it look easy that is a sign of smooth expert learned a lot watching thank you
superb slow riding skills on such a big bike, well done fella.
Appreciate your service and wish you a safe career!
Thank you Mike! Thank you for watching!
Training was very good and you are very good handling your big bike, i will give you a big big thumbs up. Keep it up.
Excellent facility wish we had that in Northern Ireland for my advanced motorycle I A M group.Great control as you say use your head ride safe guys
Thank you for watching! I have family in Ireland. County Leitrim. I got to visit about 7 years ago. Can’t wait to come back!
The training was incredible and I do very much like a riding style!
I just like watching you guys then go through the cones it's kind of fun to see how you can make those bikes work
Thank you! Appreciate you watching.
Really awesome riding skills! Makes me want to work on mine.
Thank you! Appreciate you checking it out. It’s a fun gig!
Found you by mistake n glad I did... Doing research on bmw police bikes.. Since I came across 2.. 03 n 06 both wsp... However love the bikes but extremely powerfull.. Seen your videos and preciated your service... I live right next door mcminnville again tnx for your service
Thank you for watching! They are very good bikes. I don’t have much negative to say. If you can do your own maintenance they aren’t too expensive to own. We have 2015’s now and before that had 2009’s. That boxer motor is a tractor but it does well.
Very cool 😎. I’m impressed as to how nimble that big BMW is in the tight course.
It's not the bike, it's the rider
Truly awesome video. Your handling skills are superb...found myself actually getting a little dizzy as you manipulated those tight turns through the cones lol. Thanks officer for sharing your bike handling l skills and a big thumbs up and appreciation to ALL you officers for your outstanding service. God bless you all and keep safe.
Thank you very much! Truly appreciate you watching and commenting. Happy to do it.
Thoroughly enjoyed! My mission is to buy a used RT and work on my slow speed skills, thanks for the inspiration!....
McLovin, you make it look so easy!! Nice job Officer.
Thanks brother! Appreciate it!
You guys are amazing, and these training obstacles are amazing. Stay safe and keep the good job.
Great vid! Super unique content. You can really ride the hell out of that thing. Impressive.
I started riding this past year, my first bike. This was really cool to watch. Thanks for sharing. Stay Safe, A.L.E.A. Class 294
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it! You stay safe also! It’s the best job in the department, bar none!
Wow. I wanna learn that on my goldwing 1800. Nice to see The skills from a motorcycle cop. Thanks. Greetz from The Netherlands 👍🏍
Drove that track many times before I suited up the last time. A whole different perspective from the seat of a motor unit.
It’s a lot of fun in a car or on a bike. I’m an EVO instructor also so I’ve enjoyed it from both perspectives.
Cool video!
PPB has a great motor training staff and that track is a blast to train on.
Yes they do! PPB does a great job with training. The DPSST track is a blast. Wish we got to use it more.
Very cool video! That takes some awesome balance and skills for sure especially on a heavy bike! thank you for sharing! Have a great weekend sir!
Thank you for watching! Ya she’s a big girl. It does take some time and lots of practice to learn how to throw it around.
what I like is the ability of the training centers to keep conducting training. '92 I completed the advanced riders course and here we are in 2021 I will take the beginners course and up---times change; fundamentals may stay the same but ones approach or mere perception based on previous training can become an impediment to staying "current"
not a motors person just a huge fan (the near chips soundtrack intro nice lol)
Also liking the way you motors units ride in pairs or close proximity like 'wingwo/man'
great video!
Thank you got watching!
Motorcycle skills to aspire to , especially the low speed control. I'll subscribe!
Thank you for watching and thank you for the Sub!
I am a former LEO (never a motor) but have a 2006 R1200RT and now a 2019 R1250RT... Enjoyed the video, particularly the “as you saw it” perspective... Stay safe out there brother... #backtheblue
Thank you very much! The RT’s are great machines. BMW did a nice job with them.
I like these videos, very interesting to watch and see the training you guys go through. Its nice to see you guys having a good time doing it also. Stay safe out there.
Thank you for watching! It was fun to video so that I could share it with you all. Gives a good first person view into a little bit of our training world.
