      @@matthewbrown8579 all my fertility on my tomatoes comes from my compost. But not all compost is created equal. I use a manure based mushroom compost that is very high in nitrogen and phosphorus. Coolbot for temp control

    • @chefsharvestfarm
      @chefsharvestfarm  4 місяці тому +1

      A coolbot doesn’t work on a portable AC unit. They only work for window AC units or mini split. But I do use one for my coolbot trailer. The point is that I’m using what I already have on hand for temporary cool storage. I did not need to spend any money for this set up. The additional cost of an additional coolbot set up would not be justifiable for the revenue. Thanks for watching! 🙏

    you can put the air conditioning unit outside the tent and vent the cool air output into the tent through one of the side vents in the tent, itll allow you to get the tent cooler, you might have to do a bit of creative ducting though.

    What's your thoughts on the metal halide for ripening vs LED or HPS🤣. Excellent use of equipment during the main season brother. AC infinity makes a portable ac/humid combo might be better suited for your tomatoes. The unit goes outside the tent as well so that means more storage space.

    Hello chef! Do you find that the AC unit pulls moisture out of the tomato and does that cause problems with the fruit?

    • @chefsharvestfarm
      @chefsharvestfarm  4 місяці тому +1

      It’s definitely a concern. But no issues yet. But could always put a humidifier in there if needed. It’s also pulling humidity into the room with the air intake. But no… so far no problems! Great question though! And yes, I’m definitely monitoring for it! Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it 🙏

      @@chefsharvestfarm I have an old 3 door Hussmann flower fridge that I’m rebuilding for my vegetable cold storage. A flower fridge is different than a regular refrigerator in that the humidity that condenses out on the evaporator is re-introduced back into the refrigerated case to maintain high relative humidity (and therefore not dry out the flowers stored inside). Maybe you could go that route in the future when funds allow it. If I was living near you I would come over and help with your refrigerated storage. 😁

    • @chefsharvestfarm
      @chefsharvestfarm  4 місяці тому +1

      @@FireandFrostHVAC heck yeah 👍 after my career as a Chef. I worked at Katom Restaurant Supply in sales. Basically selling commercial refrigeration and equipment. So I am very familiar with the types of refrigeration you’re referring to. I guess the point of this set up is that it was already here. All I did was swap out the AC unit for a dehumidifier to serve a temporary purpose. And at the end of summer it will be converted back into an indoor grow. So just always trying to make multi purpose use of things I already have on hand. This is all in the basement of my home so space is tight. But I do also have a refrigerated trailer for cold storage. But also run off an AC unit with a coolbot control. Hussmans are good! That’s what’s in most grocery stores! Best of luck with it! And thanks for watching and commenting 🙏
