- In this video, I'll show you how to choose and use canned abalone and dried mushrooms. And of course, cook this wonderful dish that is enjoyed mostly on special occasions.
Braised Abalone And Mushrooms is one of the traditional Chinese New Year dishes and one of the dishes you would order for an elderly person's birthday in a Chinese restaurant. But it need not be so. It can be a refreshing change to your daily recipe routine.
Where to buy abalone and dried mushrooms:

Ingredients:
1 can abalone
12-15 shiitake mushrooms (dried)
4 cloves garlic, chopped
6 slices ginger
1 Tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp Shaoxing rice wine/Chinese cooking wine
2 tbsp cooking oil
Salt (to taste)
1/2 tsp sugar (or to taste)
400 ml liquid from a combination of the sauce/brine from the can, mushroom soaking water and/or chicken stock
Corn flour slurry (1 Tbsp corn flour + 1 Tbsp water)

Thank you so much for this recipe. I'm Malaysian Indian and I love Chinese food. But abalone have always remained a mystery as I've never had them.
