In all honesty, Lloyd makes every scene better. My very first edit was literally every scene in which spoke or appeared (we're talking over 40 minutes of total source material). Twas quite the effort to narrow it down to this final product haha

The more I stack him up against the various and deeply flawed players in the series, the more lovable he becomes despite being a blunt sociopath, honestly he shows a lot of care despite what he says.

@@Noah-wx7fm The definition of sociopath has changed since Code Geass was made. Sociopaths ca 5-8 years ago were apparently capable of feeling emotions, but they just didn't care about other's feelings.
I don't quite know who changed this, but it was very recently in language terms. I don't really know a simple word anymore to describe Lloyd, because he is clearly not a sociopath based on modern definition. He's too restrained to be a modern sociopath. Lack of empathy, I guess?

I first watched this show over 10 years ago and this exchange still makes me giggle every time I think about it.

Lloyd was impressively better in English, I enjoy the dub and sub about equal, but Lloyd is easily a standout.
I found the Sub for most characters in Code geass to be grating to the ears.. (ESPECIALLY Lloyd and Suzaku) Liam 'O Brein was just too good. The other two standouts were Of course Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch.. and Crispin Freeman as Jeremiah Gottwald..

LightningAnime Honestly it terrified me upon first watch. Lloyd is the most absolute chill guy in Code Geass, so if he's freaking out over something, it's definitely not good.

Lloyd asplund: the single best character in this series.
Even with characters like Lelouch, Suzaku, CC, and Kallen, Lloyd is still my favorite character.
That stands to reason, with the exception of CC, they're all bad characters. Despite how good the story actually is, the only ones I can stomach are Lloyd and CC.

Great Destroyer How is my opinion stupid then? In what way are the characters on this show well written? Is it the way that Lelouche is supposed to be this cold calculating commander that breaks down mentally every time something doesn't go his way? Is the the way that Ohgi is a complete traitor yet has the nerve to accuse Zero? Is the it the way The Black Knights turned on Zero just because their enemy said they should? Is it the way that Suzaku's wrong and no one ever really points out how wrong he he is? Is it the way that none of the characters actually grow and become different from when the story started? Tell me, I'm dying to know. How are the characters well written and logical? The characters on Naruto make more sense than this show.

+Fabulous so fabulous I did my best to scour all of the source material. My first cut was literally every scene Lloyd spoke or was on screen. Then I shaved it down to scenes/sections and reserved a spot for the "ooh"s and "ah ha"s that weren't already in a designated section.
So basically the entire plot of code Geass is emperor Charles trying to kill Lloyd with the sword of akasha

Lloyd's line at 3:27 , 'onward Christian soldiers' is one of my favorite lines of the series. It really does summarize the entire internal battle the character's go through.
5:45 is a close second, 'they made the cannons converge? I wanted to be the one that did that!'

Hoping to see Lloyd in Season 3. They GOTTA have him! Code Geass won't be the same with out him.
Gotta be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the dub for this anime, but Lloyd's English VA is fucking fantastic. 10/10.
+Courtney Cannava Liam O'Brien was born to voice Lloyd. While every dub has its ups and downs, I felt the English cast did an overall great job, especially from Johnny Yong Bosch actually trying, Yuri Lowenthal capturing Suzaku's conflicting moral compass, and Kate Higgins nailing the whimsical and enigmatic spirit CC. But when all is said and done, Liam O'Brien and Crispin Freeman are, in my opinion, steal the show and are the strongest VAs in the dub.
For me, Liam O' Brien was born to voice War, from Darksiders.
Crispin Freeman stole every scene he was in. It did help that the best voice actors always got the most scenes.
+The Greatfish Gonzo I'll agree on most but I personally felt Johnny paled in comparison to the original Japanese.
I can't tell which role I like more: Grimoire Weiss or Lloyd Asplund.

I never considered Lloyd to be a true sociopath; I don't think sociopaths consciously try to disregard the feelings of others.
It's so funny Lloyd is the same one here. Heck for all he's concern he doesn't care about Britannia and that stuff. He's just a mad scientist making Knightmares and going along the ride in a world that's gone crazy and corrupted. Man, I just wish I could have his laid-back personality.
I love the back and forth between Lloyd and Rakshata when they one up each other is always hilarious.
