Lelouch’s recording is pretty damn solid. He tells Mao things that he’ll know Mao will respond to, then either gives a vague reply, interrupts Mao, or just completely drops it in favor of a more attention grabbing subject. He didn’t need to know exactly what Mao would say, just the general reaction

Geass could be a trap to their owner because they start to overuse it in even simple tasks, thus it halts their natural progress. Lelouch played it smart using his geass only when neccessary. Kept his wits.

I noticed how Lelouch just starts talking mid conversation. There’s two ways to read this (with how the finale goes) either a) mao was so nuts that Lelouch slightly mis-read mao’s exact train of thought, or that he read schnizel so hard in the finale because Lelouch just got better
he had a history with schneizel and actually knew and strategized against him. mao isnt very smart and is extremely emotionally reactive, so he just had to leave space for mao to think he was actually talking to him and then he implied he banged c.c. only because he knew it would piss him off. mao wasnt someone he needed to predict a conversation for, he could be reasonably guided simply through how dumb and emotional he was.
Abridged Lelouch did though
This attempt against Mao is a lil bit sloppy because Mao is an erratic mf, so whether Mao interrupts Lelouch or vice versa, it wouldn't ring a bell to Mao.
Schneizel is different, however Lelouch exploits what makes Schneizel such a fearsome persuader: his tendency to LISTEN. You see, Lelouch took an active role in their conversation, while Schneizel only responded. By anticipating Schneizel basic nature (of only play a game that he cannot), Lelouch can always craft some reasonable argument (even if it doesn't match the flow of the conversation) and expect Schneizel to follow it up instead of interrupting, making the conversation all the more "believable".

@@vectorenigma7098 Well, we know that CC left, but it might not have been as simple as her just abandoning him. Mao was likely another part of the Geass Order's experiments, and her leaving Mao was around the same time that she left the order (knowing that what was being done wasn't right.) As much as CC probably wanted to take Mao with her (we know she did care for him,) it was an impossibility because of the degree of torment being out in public brings him.
As far as the story was concerned he didn't just left but rather talk to him the part where C.C. says they have talked about this but there's a catch Mao couldn't accept so here we are with this situation, so I think it hating C.C. is kind of bad especially if you the conversation between them

Mao’s character actually kind of reminds me of Mad Pierrot from cowboy bebop, both were crazed men made crazy by the horrible circumstances they were put through before the events of the show and ended up with the mental maturity of a young child, both characters also rendezvous at theme parks to confront the main protagonists and managed to illicit a degree of empathy from each of the main protagonists.
Now that I think of it...he sounds like he's voiced by Will Feral. That...would explain some things.

His insanity wasn’t his fault at all if I couldn’t stop hearing voices in my head I would lull myself he was an orphan with most likely no friends or family apart from C2 he just wanted to be with C2 and wanted C2 to love him back . Then you have that other scene where Lelouch slaps C.C. but then immediately breaks and comforts her and tells her (even her been in amnesia and totally unable to resist "whatever" he would have her do...whatever...) that he would never want to see her suffering (or something like that, point is the same).
Even when he could Lelouch didnt take advantage of her and meanwhile Mao proved he was chasing her because of obsession and not because of love. Given these two, I believe Lelouch rightfully earned her love, just as planned. ^^ what a lovely couple!

Mao's love for her is demented and twisted. And on top of that his knowledge of C2's immortality makes him think wounds don't matter to her. Even if she was chopped up and put in a suitcase she'd come back together after the suitcase is opened. That doesn't make him right to think that. She still does feel pain. But he doesn't care about her pain or whether she actually hates him and just wants to be with her at all times to a desperate and despicable degree.

I was yesterday years old when I figured out that the sign that he cuts with his chainsaw says "Please hold on to small children", making it a perfect reference to C.C. and Mao.
The cops awakened after the order was complete and just stood there, realized they all had blackouts and "woke up" to a dead guy with a chainsaw while they were all in riot gear and no questions were asked? no crime scene investigation was made? because im pretty sure they would've found out there was also blood from CC there, not just maos, how did that shit not blow up in the news? Detective Conan would've busted lelouchs ass after that incident.
But yes, we all know, the power of bending the plot in favor of the MC is a pathway to many things some would consider unimmersive.
They took Mao to the hospital and I'm not sure how much else they would have to work with. C.C. probably wouldn't be in many databases since she was imprisoned by Clovis (and was kept pretty hush-hush). For the crime scene they would have Mao's breaking and entering... and thats about it + a mystery's persons blood. I also don't know if the police would have been very open about the case, since it would be pretty embarrassing for them to admit that they shot a man without having any memory of what had transpired...

It's actually more sad that Mao sees C.C. in a romantic way most likely while C.C. saw him as a son her abandoning him really messed him up, hell given the real life nature of Geass aka Geas if you break the vow and oath of it you are cursed with dishonor or death.
Let's say the permanent rogue Geass as a consequence of you defying your heart given Mao's Geass is a power to read minds there's a chance Mao had adopted parents and Mao wanted to know what they thought of him, and perhaps since he was a kid with this power there could've been a chance he didn't want to see the truth of humanity anymore as it broke and the Geass remained permanent and went rogue and it tormented him.
I'm willing to believe C.C. promised him IF he manages to fulfill her wish his Geass would go away and he'd be free from the curse of reading minds forever, then he learns the truth to be free from his curse he must kill C.C. and he couldn't bare the thought of doing that so seeing how much pressure she put on an innocent kid C.C. leaves him. Big mistake given how he turns out. Oh can you imagine how messed up it be if Mao succeeded in chopping C.C. up thinking she wouldn't die if he didn't have the intent only to actually kill her and take her code in the process.

When you think about it, this was good experience reference for Lelouch to use against Schneizel. Just like the "Zero"-made landslide at Narita is in comparison to the volcanic explosion from Mt. Fuji.

Mao gets shot up by a firing squad yet shows up days later without a scratch on his body to mess with Lelouch one more time because of "Britannian medical science"? By that reasoning, Euphemia and Shirley should have also been saved since they also had access to it!
Hey, that's actually true. Mao took multiple gunshots and survived, while it only took a single bullet to kill Shirley and Euphemia. If Britannian medical science really is the best there is, then how come it could save one man who had been shot MULTIPLE times, when compared to two girls who couldn't be saved by just one shot? Either the writers were lazy or just forgetful.
@@dragonman2168 or he was shot in all non lethal spots, if you get shot in the heart it's nearly 100% chance of death and if you shot in the limbs or gut etc and it misses major arteries you won't die if you get medical assistance
@@xarmsdie8115 I suppose that makes sense. Still for Mao to get shot multiple times, but not ONCE in a lethal spot, certainly sounds a lot like pure luck, if I'm being honest.
@@dragonman2168 not necessarily, people can be shot an absurd amount of times and still survive. Plus there's the second factor which is the individual being shot, some people die from relatively small wounds whole others survive losing their arms and legs in explosions.
