ODK ..they know the risk and its on them to stay safe and not get heat stroke. I went to Death Valley just after Christmas in 1986 It was so cold I was layered in clothing. I would never go anywhere without checking on the weather conditions before I went.
It works. I heard some years ago about Los Angeles trying to paint some of their streets as an experiment to see how it would work. I doubt they bothered to keep it up though since I haven't seen any more of it.
Probably because it's a stupid idea.. Reflected glare from the streets can blind/strain people's eyes causing more vehicular accidents to happen except if everybody wears polarized shades.
I believe some people might do it avoid getting sunburn if they have a skin condition. Though, wearing winter clothing in warm weather (especially desert heat) is highly unwise IMO.
What saves more money: painting your roof white to keep cooler in summer or leaving your roof black to heat your house when it's cold outside. Maybe a detachable white cover of some sort is a better option.
I live in south Florida where the average for the past 3 weeks has been above 90 degrees. That doesn’t include the humidity which makes you feel even hotter, my houses AC is always set around 71-68 and I’m still sweating in my own house. This heat is unbearable, I start sweating just walking to my trash can to take out the trash
The trouble is keeping them white. On roof it goes grey. I reckon cover your roof with solar panels better as they create electricity and shade on the roof. It's more expensive but in long run better.
Yeah, let's all go to the digital thermometer at the DV Park and take our pictures there. Good idea until the car breaks down and they find themselves desperate for the next vehicle to come along.
It doesn’t make a difference. It reads the temperature of the first surface the laser touches. He could be 20 feet away and it’ll still work the same and show the same numbers. Maybe a 1 degree difference
Painting your roof white is not really that effective. If you have insulation in your attic and good roof ventilation, the surface temp of the top of your roof has very little to do with indoor livable space temp. Spend the money on a power vent or more attic insulation. Remember, you live 10-13 feet below your roof if you have an attic, and heat goes UP, not down.
