Oh man, I was making clay masks so wrong all this time, lol. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video. I decided to start making my own masks because I don't like the ingredients in commercial brands, however.. I love one from Neutrogena that feels light on the skin once dry but doesn't crack or feel tight. Do you think this recipe with Kaolin Clay would work well for that? I was using water previously and that's why I couldn't get the result no matter what I added to it, I thought maybe it was the addition of Titanium Dioxide that I needed..
Marie, thank you so much for this easy mask. I feel it's the best one I've found so far with simple ingredients. I will definitely purchase your book to support your efforts. Thanks! :)

Since some folks liked this comment and I assume they had the same question, I want to suggest that they try the shea and oatmeal mask. I found it much less greasy and it rinses off very very cleanly. I also used hazelnut oil for my liquid oil, which is very light. I plan to try this French green clay mask again with hazelnut oil and see if that makes a difference.
Update for the folks reading the comments: hazelnut oil didn't make a difference. I'll try IPM next. I love the concept of self-emulsifying masks and the shea butter one is AMAZING, but this recipe just isn't working for me as-is. The other issue I'm having is that when I try to massage water into the mask, it sort of pills up and starts to fall off my face. I have to lightly pat the water over my face. The shea mask doesn't do that unless I try to mix a whole face's worth with water in my hand.
Thanks for answering in the comments! I just made this with some jojoba and mostly rosehip oil. I added some Isopropyl Mystrate bcuz I added some primrose EO. I added 10grs of ground hibiscus flower to the clay. I used pink French rose clay. It's nice. Just a little more exfoliating than the clay by itself. I use just a very small amount and gently rub that out as far as I can. I also rinse with water. Try a "dry" oil, like rosehip or grape seed.
Is really nice to see your recipes and this mask is amazing , just an advise don’t put clay with metallic containers because it broke all good reactions the minerals can do . Is like the metals make reaction with the minerals and then doesn’t work how supposed
Hi Jennifer! Thanks for watching :) I actually interviewed an expert about the "no metals with clay" thing and he confirmed it's a myth. You can read more here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/. Something else to think about; clay is mined with metal tools, and that doesn't ruin it :)
