    That's absolutely brilliant!!
    For me, making the base of a face mask every time right before I used it was the main reason I was didn't do it very often and that solves it completely 😊😊
    Also it's great that the face mask is unscented so and each use you could use a different hydrosol with it and create a new product 😉

    Oh man, I was making clay masks so wrong all this time, lol. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video. I decided to start making my own masks because I don't like the ingredients in commercial brands, however.. I love one from Neutrogena that feels light on the skin once dry but doesn't crack or feel tight. Do you think this recipe with Kaolin Clay would work well for that? I was using water previously and that's why I couldn't get the result no matter what I added to it, I thought maybe it was the addition of Titanium Dioxide that I needed..

    This mask was too oily for me! Could I replace some of the oil with distilled water and add a preservative?

    • @clarewhite3004
      @clarewhite3004 3 роки тому

      Since some folks liked this comment and I assume they had the same question, I want to suggest that they try the shea and oatmeal mask. I found it much less greasy and it rinses off very very cleanly. I also used hazelnut oil for my liquid oil, which is very light. I plan to try this French green clay mask again with hazelnut oil and see if that makes a difference.

    • @clarewhite3004
      @clarewhite3004 2 роки тому

      Update for the folks reading the comments: hazelnut oil didn't make a difference. I'll try IPM next. I love the concept of self-emulsifying masks and the shea butter one is AMAZING, but this recipe just isn't working for me as-is. The other issue I'm having is that when I try to massage water into the mask, it sort of pills up and starts to fall off my face. I have to lightly pat the water over my face. The shea mask doesn't do that unless I try to mix a whole face's worth with water in my hand.

    • @JustKrista50
      @JustKrista50 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for answering in the comments!
      I just made this with some jojoba and mostly rosehip oil. I added some Isopropyl Mystrate bcuz I added some primrose EO. I added 10grs of ground hibiscus flower to the clay. I used pink French rose clay. It's nice. Just a little more exfoliating than the clay by itself. I use just a very small amount and gently rub that out as far as I can. I also rinse with water.
      Try a "dry" oil, like rosehip or grape seed.

      Hi Jennifer! Thanks for watching :) I actually interviewed an expert about the "no metals with clay" thing and he confirmed it's a myth. You can read more here: www.humblebeeandme.com/bentonite-clay-and-diy-beauty/.
      Something else to think about; clay is mined with metal tools, and that doesn't ruin it :)

    Thanks a lot! I made this twice with coconut oil instead of safflower oil but after 2 days some quantity of the oil seperates on the top. What could be the reason?(i poured the mask when it's not too hot[when it's warm as u described]) may be problem was bcs i didn't give half an hr time in double boiling. Just 10 times time till it became liquidy.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe

      It sounds like it's melting 'cause you live somewhere hotter than I do! You'll need to increase the cetyl alcohol + decrease the liquid oil a few percentage points-you will have to do your own experiments to figure out what works for your climate. Happy making!

      No; only things with water can be hydrating. It can be moisturizing, though!

    I have a question. I heard that clay masks are not good because they need a lot of preservative. Is this true?

      Hey! I'd say that statement is so simplistic/over-simplified that it is kind of meaningless in addition to being untrue. I'd recommend reading this to learn more: www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/can-i-mix-up-a-big-batch-of-this-face-mask-and-use-it-later/. Happy making!
