Lots of “experts” out there!!! I think you did a great job on the cleaver restoring the blade and making a handle out of a table leg. Excellent eye and execution!!! Well done sir!! The Old Army Scout…
At 2:55 I thought, “is this some perspective trick? How isn’t it cutting through the table?” At 3:03 I realized it is in fact cutting through the table 😂
So you made a knie out of a plow blade chopper that you found at your grandmother's... This isn't a restoration as you didn’t restore, you made a completely different type of knife out of it...
Yeah was pretty disappointed when the first thing he did was remove everything that gave it character and ruined the story it had. Why not start with a blank piece of steel? It would of been less work and would of left this as a cool knife.
Shame you changed it, because... this used to be identical as one that my grandma had, which means there's more than one out there and that gave it some story.
I really admire you work especially because you don’t have a big following Anymore (even though the you deserve it) you still but in effort for the people you hate still watch and I appreciate that
I know Serbian cleaver knives are popular at the moment, but personally I would not have changed the original shape. Apart from that, your work is fantastic. You have created a beautiful piece from that old piece of rusted metal. I loved the ebony handle too.
I have another grinder that needs restoration before it could be used. I plan to restore it and use it as a permanent wire wheel and keep this one for polishing only.
Thanks! I was expecting people not to agree with the shape change, it hapened before. But my "restorations" are more like repurposing of old tools and material, not really museum grade stuff.
I Think it’s a shame that you change the geometry of the cleaver, and that handle just isn’t right for a cleaver, not even for knife blade. You could see that it already had a small crack at the end where you forced the steel into the handle, only held together by the copper ring. It’s nice to look at, but not very useful at all.
That looks sick (and it was a great watch!). Question: is the remaining 'pitting' and dark stuff safe for food? Is that what the non-stick burning was for?
My God, what a bunch of precious, judgemental a-holes in this comment section! Please don't pay any attention to them and just keep on doing your own thing.
Great video and a number of techniques you used were cool & interesting, but felt more like a transformation then a restoration. the definition just doesn't fit, you remade the cleaver into a knife basically.
I remove the sides for ease of belt changes. And it allows better positioning of the part around the belt. And I have 2 sanders because I had trouble finding spare belts for the one with 3 rollers. But I'm not happy with either of them and plan to build a custom one in the future.
Almost to pretty to use. Almost. And I like how you repurposed the cleaver into something more useful. Unless you butcher your own, who uses a cleaver?
So, a better title would have been "Used old cleaver as a blank to make a new knife" I am not salty that you did that it's just that you called it a "Restoration" which this is Not. I was looking forward to seeing you bring this blade back to as close to original condition as you could. Made it to 3:37 into the video before deciding to click off and comment.
Well that's just not a restoration. You completely changed the cleaver leaving nothing that resembled the Original. What you did is brutal, is recycling...
Thanks for the laugh. Look up the definitions of 'Restore' and then 'Repurposed', guess which definition applies to this post. The butchered cleaver is no more, perhaps welding would have kept it in a restorable condition. Having said that I do like the ebony handle.
In my opinion only, you didn't restore it. You ruined it, but it's your knife, not mine. If you like it. I guess that's what counts would have liked to seen what it would have looked like had you kept it original
that looks like crap you butchered that knife.
Agreed it looks awful
Loser
agreed

you dont even understand the definition of the word restoration so why dont you stop showing everyone how dumb you are
Fez uma grande porcaria tristeza de 💩👎
WAKE UP, THE KING DROPPED 👑
LOL!
Let’s goooo!! Rust bucket is back!!
5:17 the anvil is way too nice to actually use 🤣🤣 it looks like a trophy for the #1 blacksmith. just a testament to your lovely work
Thank you! It was inspired by an antique french jeweler's anvil. The original was even better looking, with intricate details in the wood base.
You got to love your archaic approach to restoration.
At 2:55 I thought, “is this some perspective trick? How isn’t it cutting through the table?” At 3:03 I realized it is in fact cutting through the table 😂
Now thats what i was waiting for, keep up the good work cant wait for more of the seriers!
Thanks, will do!
Nice wok, your grandma would be very proud!
That wood is so beautiful. The polish you gave it really makes it shine
everyday the new video make me happy ty for this content
Good job on Beaver Cleaver. Can't wait to see restoration videos for Wally Cleaver, June Cleaver, and Ward Cleaver.

And I appreciate you guys staying subscribed in the 2 years that I was away from UA-cam. Thank you!
Grandma would be proud.
Thanks!
What a beautiful piece of work. Such a great restoration 👍👍
Thank you!

You are right, sebian chef knives were the inspiration for the new shape. I really like them.
We're gonna end up seeing one of these videos with a Liveleak logo if you keep wearing long sleeves near the lathe 😭😭
Yea, you're right. It was cold in the shop, but yes, it is not a safe thing to do...
That's what you got out of this? Pathetic...
one can only pray.
You should do a video of restoring your bench grinder
I have another grinder that needs restoration before it could be used. I plan to restore it and use it as a permanent wire wheel and keep this one for polishing only.
Nice job👍🏻😊
can't believe you caramelized the steel with non-stick and a torch
Can you make one massive video of most of the masterpieces of restoration videos you have made?
It’s not what I expected but it’s nicer than I expected!
From Diablo1, 'Grandma's cleaver'... no wait a sec... 🤣
well i hope your happy you have destored a peice of history
Pretty amazing work, dude! It looks fantastic! 😃
Really well done!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you so much!
muy bonito gran trabajo
2:54 did you cut the table?? 😂
Yea! Nice catch!
Lovely wood
Yea, I liked it too. Very dense and tight fibers, almost like it's made of resin.
I love it. Had my doubts on the straight handle, but it suits it fine.
Super nice
Nice work, just in the process of doing my own, super helpful tips, thanks. Love that mini anvil 👍
Breaking out the old hits with a cleaver. I approve. 95 million views, here we come... again.
Those day are gone, that video had basically no competition. Now there are thousands of restoration channels out there, some doing amazing work.
At first I was like "wtf", but then I was like, nice job my man 👍🏻
My friend getting back to your grove! This is BRILLIANT WORK you do! Thank you!
🔥🔪🗿👊😎🗿🔪🔥
Thank you!
Keren luar biasa ❤
Получился сербский тесак 👍 неплохо
theres a surprising amount of critics down here. i thought this was great, as usual.

Narc
Bruv wut chu on about
You've clearly never restored before if you think that was a viable possibility in this case.
You know that opinions are like a$$holes, right?
To each one's own @fransrasmussen3052! However, no one is forcing you to watch this!
That looks sick (and it was a great watch!). Question: is the remaining 'pitting' and dark stuff safe for food? Is that what the non-stick burning was for?
Yea, it's the same oil and method used to season cast iron pans.
Just curious what make u wanna do this restore old stuff
My God, what a bunch of precious, judgemental a-holes in this comment section! Please don't pay any attention to them and just keep on doing your own thing.
LOL! Thanks!
Great video and a number of techniques you used were cool & interesting, but felt more like a transformation then a restoration. the definition just doesn't fit, you remade the cleaver into a knife basically.
Why do you remove the side pannel on the belt sander ?
And why do you have 2 belt sander ? (just curious for both)
I remove the sides for ease of belt changes. And it allows better positioning of the part around the belt. And I have 2 sanders because I had trouble finding spare belts for the one with 3 rollers. But I'm not happy with either of them and plan to build a custom one in the future.
Wow you have changed the whole shape of the cleaver and naming it restoration? You can call it Transformation.
Real ebony wood is very expensive and rare. I think I would have saved it for something a bit more special than this.
I saved it for 5 years now. It was either this or save it forever.I'm turning into a hoarder 😀
@@TheSmallWorkshop HA HA. Okay. Nobody wants hoarding.
Like what?
Do you collect the shavings, cuttings, and grinding dusts and chunks to sell in small jars or boxes to support the channel?
I don't, but thank you for the intention to support the channel. At this point, just the fact that you watch my videos is a great help! Thank you!
Since when has the verb "restore" become a synonym of the verb "destroy"?
@@TheSmallWorkshop Geez, the corruption goes deeper than I thought.
Так намного лучше!!!
👍👍👍
Nice. Handle. Shame. About. Blade pits. R. Us.
But, you didn't cut sheets of perfectly good paper into shreds with it for five minutes at the end. All the cool people do it. 😎
I wanted to shave my arm hair, but some people found it disturbing.
Looks like a shark fin chopper
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A lot of people giving you grief about the changes. Sheesh. It's not as of you changed their knife.
It's ok, I get it. They like old tools and don't want to see them repurposed. I don't mind the comments.
why have you got to destory every thing you work on
Almost to pretty to use. Almost. And I like how you repurposed the cleaver into something more useful. Unless you butcher your own, who uses a cleaver?
👍👍❤❤👏
What a waste of beautiful materials.
Not restoration, you made a different tool entirely 🙄
I got a good idea Clive shut up and enjoy don’t click on the video just to hate
@@finley3780 i agree with clive he actually just made what could have been an awesome resto into an ugly piece of sh1t. lazy ugly bad .
I have a massive hog splitter if you’d be interested in restoring it.
La poignée est trop fine elle ne résistera pas. Dommage d'avoir dénaturé ce couperet.
Why?….
My channel also deals with rust restoration, I really hope to learn more experience from you.
16:40 Ahh ahh ahh

You realize there’s ways to soften metal to sand it then you can reharden it wow that was just awful
lavar com agua e depois acertar no esmeril e foda mano

Unfinished business still rusty and not suitable for cutting vegetables or meat
🙋♂️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👌✌️🇩🇪😉
Restoration? You created a whole new blade. The title is uncorrect.
You made a Serbian knife 🔪
Yes. When I decided to cut the hole instead of filling it I googled some possible shapes and the serbian chef knife was the one that I liked the most.
