Awesome info for beginners like myself. Have yet to see a video that explained the pause then power through and the charge then chop methods. Also to grip through the airbox was great advise for leg positioning. Thanks!
Get use to hitting it slow. Then just a little faster each time. I was the same way at first. I would let off at base then go over jump. Then I got more comfortable and kept throttle to the lip and you just glide. Usually for the next I am carrying enough momentum I can let off at base and still clear
No disrespect mate, but here in the America’s we listen to Uncle Ronnie & he says pin it everywhere 69% of the time every time. I jumped 69 ft doing this and it would’ve been money, except the jump was only a 40 ft’er. I now watch from the sidelines in my off road wheel chair.
I always tend to be front end high. Guess my body position needs to be a little more over the handle bars. I got that fear of then being front end low, which scares me more haha.
New riders its good to at first while your flying your first jumps to really make sure you keep front wheel straight as you go an especially landing more so landing cause back of bike will always follow steering head, where forks connect to frame, keeping the handle bars straight as you land is important, you have to be able to reach bars and see that its straight with the landing so you need to be forward like he says,if back of bike starts to move out,as you get faster it will, you keep it tracking by countering it with your weight forward and away from the side that's stepping out, check even pressure on foot pegs to,that and grip with your legs, sometimes if you shifted or braked ,move your feet back even on pegs that's useally why bike goes crooked in air go straight first then later, you can get the scrub thing working,it actually easy, but learn to fly straight and clear the jump, like he saying.you can get the flick scrub, will actually flow pretty easy once you get good at clearing the jump and getting over it,in race mode, straight what counts first,I didn't event the scrub I was just doin it cause there was a double at the top of the hill, with very little run at it,so found good size bump near the bottom of uphill, and I flicked the bike over, pancaked it as hard and flat as I could so I could push my momentum foward not up,to get max distance not come up short,it was up a hill,so landing short didn't matter distance did,so I guess it was sort of a scrub,I had just got done teaching myself Jeremy McGrath art of speed flying and clearing jumps, getting the max out of launch ramp,so now I'd figure I throw my own faster way to jump into it...it was all in testing myself and techniques and fun once I got past the point of worrying about clearing stuff any more...practice practice, practice and some creativity...it was about speed...who the heck is bubba anyway, just kidding bubba cool,I was lucky enough to watch him ride a 60cc at Dade city, and I told his dad that's the way your supposed to jumps, that's getting it done right matching the angle of landing jump power on,nice so many pros I was watching were not even doin it,here s JS,seven years old wow I was really stoked, yeah I live in Florida by the way.take care of the front of bike it will take care of you...nice simple explanation, use smallest engine size bike to start ,lighter is more forgiving, maneuverable. A 450f is not a good first bike to try jumping for the first time with,250f is.Good video be safe study, repetition visualizing helps if you understand it,slow motion video works best, remember most motocross track are built to make riding tricky, and make you screw up,dah..prepare.
Sorry to be a bother but can you do a rider tip on braking and braking drills that will help improve me braking later so i can get better lap-times and therefore better results in racing. Thanks Harry
By "ruled" you mean those were the only four-strokes on the track. Everyone road two-strokes. Unless you're talking about the time before the 1970's. Then it was heavy clunkers like XR's and what not. Then again, I wasn't there. I've only heard stories from my father. His dad owned a shop in the 80's I think.
NEVER let off the throttle at the bottom of the landing you will nose dive, now sometimes it is good to let off the throttle but most of the time you will land front wheel first and could flip over.
Mr Dirtbike Fail That's not true, there are obviously situations where you can benefit from chopping the throttle. The difference between the two techniques is how hard you're charging the jump, the first - normally, and the second - charging hard.
if youre good enough and you know how to jump sitting down you could do that, but the safest way is to jump standing up. i can jump both ways but i would rather stand.
MDelapaz DIRT BIKE LOVER The only thing I can say bro is test yourself, try clearing small jumps to build up confidence, confidence is a key factor in riding, get down the proper technique and you’ll be fine. Don’t start off with jumps you can’t handle mentally, always start with small jumps, also try clearing muffin top jumps first.
each time I attempt to jump i get somewhat in the air and my feet come off of the pegs and it feels like im being pushed up and off the bike. and it effects me being able to be doing bigger jumps. (im a beginner) any tips?
Hold on with your knees to the frame of the bike, and if you do that in all cind's of bumps and jumps you will have more controll and can go way faster.
Ummm, just when was this? 1964? I wasn't aware that those bikes were around then. lol CR, KX, RM & YZ plus the European counterparts were the ONLY bikes on motocross tracks since the early 70's. WHEN did XR's and WR's EVER rule the track???
But that is because the jumps weren't the same, they are bigger and require more suspension that the xr, wr, and drz's don't have. It's not that they aren't fast enough, they are made cheaper for people who would rather ride in the trails rather than the tracks
NNOOO NONONONONO DO NOT GET THAT PLEASE, Yamaha is YZ, Kawasaki is KX, ktm is SX, Suzuki is RM and Honda is CR, if you get anything other than these I mention they are TRAIL bikes not MOTOCROSS bikes, it is vital that you get a motocross bike
FUCK XR unless your strictly trail i had a 87(not sure but it was a 80 ik that)xr100 my 1st half year riding it sucked at trail as well cause i was 14 and weighed too much anyway now im trail a lot more so i chose a ktm 200 witch i good at both even though its a trail bike lol
+Davin Drachenberg (SkolpisFilmsMC) Did he ever say he could do it better though? He said that the "scrub" was not really a scrub but a whip. That doesn't mean he can do it better.
Awesome info for beginners like myself. Have yet to see a video that explained the pause then power through and the charge then chop methods. Also to grip through the airbox was great advise for leg positioning. Thanks!
My problem is having the confidence to know I’m going to clear it and not case it.

Mychal Moser same
Mychal Moser I like it better when the front wheel goes down than the back because it s smoother on the landing
My problem with jumping when I was a beginner was that I never stood up!
@mxtv. Great advice mate, made alot of sense when i look back at my body position etc. Nice one cobber!!
I accidentaly did a whip, then slammed sideways into the dirt....it hurt. I dont think i need to do that again
Anyone else notice that his front number plate says 11 but the side ones say 57
yes i do front one saise its a 450cc race bike the back sais its a 250cc race bike white 450 black 250
Jarrod Hickman yes that's weird

I have a 2 stroke but when I hit it in powerband I flip it
Sorry to be a bother but can you do a rider tip on braking and braking drills that will help improve me braking later so i can get better lap-times and therefore better results in racing.
Thanks Harry
Thanks for the vid, good shit!
would the technique used be different on a two stroke? i.e pause at the base then power up the face of the jump, im only a beginner. thanks
great video !
well the z and f just mean its 4 stroke lol, I was just naming the beginning of each
Love these videos good job
nice tips

Same for 2-stroke.
hey ther im am looking at a yamaha kxr 90. is this a good bike for jumping
Does this works with 2 stroke?
Will this work the same with a kawasaki???
Always when I jump i go tip or back , why's that?
gotta love nunawading
My feet come off the pegs what should I do
Its a whiteboi grip tighter with your knees before the jump and throughout the jump
Mine do the same thing, about crashed twice today because of this, have you found out what to do to fix this?
+Its a whiteboi Less rebound on the dampers, and more/even throttle on the take-off to give you a more even upkick.
+Its a whiteboi grip the bike with your knees
If it gets to out of hand jump off parts are cheap

Does it matter if sit or stand in the air after the take off?
No, you can sit in the air. But i recommend that you stand up cuz its safer
Brendon Hutchinson dont sit, you will nose dive its a suicide mission
if youre good enough and you know how to jump sitting down you could do that, but the safest way is to jump standing up. i can jump both ways but i would rather stand.
nippleXhair Rides i see your fucking comments everywhere
Good video but I’m really scared to try to clear one. I can get a little bit more than half way. Could someone help me out please

you mean ttr?

might have too much rebound on the rear shock
hold your knees to the bike as hard as you can like a death grip and loosn your shock
maybe your rear shock rebound is to rapid ,and or you are not grabbing the bike with your legs
Ummm, just when was this? 1964? I wasn't aware that those bikes were around then. lol
CR, KX, RM & YZ plus the European counterparts were the ONLY bikes on motocross tracks since the early 70's.
WHEN did XR's and WR's EVER rule the track???
#seat#time is church. Time on the bike 👍
Are you supposed to use your clutch at all while airborne?
No
Yes, but for more advanced control. If you hit your rear brake to bring the front end down, then yes use the clutch or the engine can stall.
Would immediately start when you land though, probably.
That or lock the wheel as you hit the ground and stop you dead on the landing and push you into the ground and boom broken bones :D
hmm...I thought it stood for kumansuxme.
But that is because the jumps weren't the same, they are bigger and require more suspension that the xr, wr, and drz's don't have. It's not that they aren't fast enough, they are made cheaper for people who would rather ride in the trails rather than the tracks
Y has lee's bike have 57 on it
+yort productions Because he put it on their...
Thanks :)
I have The exact same gear on rn. This is weird
very useful
probably before you time but before the fancy shim valve bikes the tracks were ruled by XR's, WR's and DRZ's just sayin
I don't think anyone knows what that is. KX 90 maybe?
or rmz,crf and so on
thanks for vid
NNOOO NONONONONO DO NOT GET THAT PLEASE, Yamaha is YZ, Kawasaki is KX, ktm is SX, Suzuki is RM and Honda is CR, if you get anything other than these I mention they are TRAIL bikes not MOTOCROSS bikes, it is vital that you get a motocross bike
Biar aku mengerti
ik lol just me being a smart ass
I know I now own a Kawasaki kx 60
Hes riding on the heals of his feet not the balls.
just get a kx100 or 85
FUCK XR unless your strictly trail i had a 87(not sure but it was a 80 ik that)xr100 my 1st half year riding it sucked at trail as well cause i was 14 and weighed too much anyway now im trail a lot more so i chose a ktm 200 witch i good at both even though its a trail bike lol
Hahaha
That was not a scrub that was a little whip come on I've seen people do way better
+Davin Drachenberg (SkolpisFilmsMC) Did he ever say he could do it better though? He said that the "scrub" was not really a scrub but a whip. That doesn't mean he can do it better.
Doesn't matter... if they cannot do better than the should keep their mouth shut and speak for theirself
+Davin Drachenberg (SkolpisFilmsMC) Can't see how that proves your point.
Why the hell would you tell someone that they suck if they cannot do better that's plain stupid...
Thanks obglobgablob I'm saying he can do better
