My friend thinks Marathon will be nothing like Ubisoft's RS Seige. Running is like walking only faster. Bungie is cooked, they should make Oni 2. The OG Oni game was released on PS2 in 2000
They are asking us to wishlist it, without having anything to show for it other than two pictures that says nothing about how the game as a whole.. I don't know man
@beardedkupp like Shadow run being a class-based multiplayer shooter on the 360. I liked the game for what it did. I hated the counterstrike style rounds.
That actually happened to my sister once in high school. She was finishing up the last bit of her homework (it was easy assignment so she had no issue putting it off till that morning) before we went to school and the dog was wanting her to play but my sister ignored her. The dog then grabbed her homework and ran off with it. It was pretty hilarious because she took what was left of the homework with her to school and gave it to the teacher and told her and the class that the dog ate her homework. Needless to say, the teacher and the class didn't believe her, but my mom told my sister to have the teacher call her to verify the story just in case. Needless to say, the teacher was in disbelief when my mom told her that the dog really did steal/eat the homework. The teacher was in disbelief over it but let my sister complete the homework again and turn it in. Funny thing is that by the end of the day, it was known all over the school that our dog actually ate my sister's homework.
So does “this is a game for everybody” there’s literally no winning… Destiny fans complain all the time about the game trying to appeal to too many crowds and it’s divided them from the inside out. So no Marathon should not aim for a super massive wide audience where they catch nobody, but should focus on a target market and capture that.
This is that Divorced Dad chat- “Hey buddy, so you’re probably wondering why Dad hasn’t been around much, well, I can’t tell you a lot right now but I’m still gonna be around buddy, just not as much as Mommy 😅”
Hopefully Bungie needs to be ended. The fact they abandoned their cash cow Destiny & all the Destiny player’s begging for content just to waste time, money & resources on making Marathon is disgusting
Everything's made to adhere to checklists, not to be a creative game anymore. And bean counters and shareholders have no idea how creativity works, they just see one thing selling well and demand their products copy that thing.
Yeah Bungie having a lot of layoffs and transfers and then banking everything on an extraction shooter is a little concerning. Did the higher ups swindle SONY into buying a burning ship?
Nah Sony was desperate to get into the live service. The fact that bungie reached out to Xbox and they refused to take them back should have been a red flag
Totally unprepared, it does seems like they got a phone call that morning from Sony and told them they’re going live at noon. The fact that he explains the genre makes me think this was for investors not gamers.
That blew my mind. Only makes sense knowing they make Destiny a looter shooter & might have some Destiny players interested in this so it was almost pre-warning Destiny players that want to get loot ….. “wait stop, you will LOSE loot in this game, this game is NOT for Destiny players” What a wild insane company Bungie is.
It's like watching someone talk about an inside joke that they really wish they could let you be a part of, and that the joke is really funny and you just have to trust them bro.
When they first announced this, I thought it's going to be a story-driven singleplayer game. I was genuinely excited. I thought this is Bungie going back to their roots - their Halo after Halo. Heck, I'll even name-drop Myth as that had a decent story (can't remember anything about Oni even though I played that as well). Still, this could be good, who knows, it's too early to tell, but it's not for me.
Did Bungie forget they created the fully fledged lore rich universe of Marathon 30 years ago? Because it sounds like they have no idea what Marathon is supposed to be. This entire video reads like a sony executive ordering a hughly monitosed Halo like, and nobody knowing what that is supposed to be.
@@DestinL the worst possible choice they could’ve made for a new game is an extraction shooter. They are so niche and I don’t see this game changing that.

Everyone’s thinking this is the next Concord. To say things like ‘the last game in the Marathon franchise was like, 1994, I think’. Bro you should have that date written down AND memorized. Bungie is following the Concord plan almost step by step...Sony "the goal" to learn from the Concord disaster was not to ask Bungie to follow that formula Marathon is gonna be another disaster that will spell the official end of Bungie...RIP
This is like listening to the dude in university who partied all weekend and put together a presentation last minute. Feel bad for the man, it's so bad and he seems to know it. Concord made them panic. Marathon will probably be fine, but that's not gonna cut it for Bungie. Y’all are hilarious😂. “Sony tightened the belt on them” Ponies: “ well they created this game before they took over” You can’t be serious it’s been two to three years Sony was fully involved. 😂
This isn’t bungie anymore, they were gone once the layoffs happen. Actually before that really. No hopes for this game and it’s sad really, the extraction shooter is already saturated and you make it a hero shooter too,two genres that I don’t care about
This sounds like the conversations me and my buddies would have back in the late 90s when we were in college and sitting around concepting games we never made.
As People are saying in comments. This video is released in a Panic which was induced due to colossal failure of Concord which Surprise Surprise was also a Hero shooter. So Sony is now worried about Bungie's hero shooter as well
Bungie has been on a downward trend ever since the left halo behind, destiny started off well but it’s no where as big as it was, they are just surging by there name but can’t produce anything to back that name anymore!
Destiny did NOT start off well lol Vanilla D1 was extremely barebones and clearly had a ton of cut content that they resold back to customers as DLC...
They fired much of their marketing, communications, pr, and community talent. This video they released was so low budget and terribly produced. Just shows why those team members were needed.
@ nominees ain’t getting it done….and take the S off of the nominees your lucky if Astrobot makes it nobody bought it 😆🤣 3/1 means nothing when I can play on my series x my ROG and PC 😬😎✌🏽Microsoft winning in money destroying Sony 😬
marathon AKA Concord 2 also, Destin, if you are seeing this, your Veilguard maths is misleading. Dragon's Dogma2 has peak concurrent steam player almost 3 times of Veilguard, and DD2 sold 3 million in 3 months. That means Veilguard maybe selling 1 million in 3 months. Veilguard = Starwars Outlaw in terms of sales. Not looking good, my man
They claim it broke sales records for a BioWare game. Also I imagine that a fair number of PC players would have bought it through the EA launcher since it's cheaper there if you have Game Pass or EA Play. There's nothing like that for Capcom games. Furthermore Star Wars: Outlaws had very high sales expectations based on the IP. "Disappointing" sales numbers for that game would be decent numbers for most games.
I don't think Dragon's Dogma, which broke records is a fair comparison. Veilguard is in the Top 200 concurrent of all time on Steam for some context, putting it near games like Borderlands 3, Far Cry 5, Civ 5, MGS 5, Tomb Raider, etc.
To be fair, Destin, I had no clue what exactly an Extraction Shooter is. I'm a single-player gamer, but then again, I'm most likely not the target audience.
They took a game that pretty much no one has played and turned it into a modern day extraction shooter. Idk I could be wrong but I don’t think too many people are looking for a new extraction shooter. Plus, it’s gone through multiple changes with dev team etc. We have seen no actual live gameplay. To me this is a dumpster fire and won’t work. Everyone will try it because it’s Bungie. But it’s not going to work.
Really hope this company would go bankrupt after manipulating and scamming their own player base for decades. Hope bungie would shut down exactly like firewalk studio.
Is it just me that felt like I was watching an Apple product launch like when they introduce ancient technology as the new groundbreaking thing. "Now witness the awesome power of GreenTooth. Send your favourite songs and pictures to friends with just the push of a few buttons" but instead it's like "Witness the next big thing in games. We've got guns, we've got grenades and we have several classes to choose from"
Him taking the time to explain what an extraction shooter was honestly felt a little condescending. The people paying attention to this game at this point in time already know what an extraction shooter is.
They might be trying to market it to Sony's single player gamers. Single player gamers play those games for a reason, no way they are going to stick for long if this is an extraction shooter.
@@bracusforge7964 I do like Witchfire. It's an early access single player roguelike extraction shooter on Steam. So, they can have a market for extraction shooters for single player games, but it won't make nearly as much money as a multiplayer live service game.
For those of you who don’t remember because gamers have shit memory, we found that after Destiny one launched Activision had to send over people from the Diablo team to destiny so they could teach him how to make a looter. This was after destiny had already launched had made, and sold a litter without knowing how to make a litter and needed somebody else to come in and show them how to do it. It looks like the exact same thing with extraction shooters. They said let’s make it extraction shooter and decide they weren’t gonna actually bother looking into what that actually meant.
He faced onscreen to put a face to the guy fans were thinking was going to make Marathon another hero shooter, so he isn't being othered as if he isn't a real person anymore. He promised the public would increasingly be added to playtests, meaning gamers will get a real chance to help shape the game. And if they get feedback that it isn't going to work, they can drop it before it becomes too big to fail. That's why I think they put this video out.
I’m interested to see how Marathon turns out but I have no interest to play it, played the first destiny and enjoyed it for a bit until the constant grinding to keep up with weapons and needing a group to do the raids caused me to stop. Tried Destiny 2 once but got overwhelmed by what to do in the story, this was when it was on game pass so it had a few add ons. I hope it turns out well, I don’t want to see another studio shutdown but my faith in Bungie peaked during Halo Reach
If the game was pitched like this it would receive 0, I repeat 0 funds... so little to tell and nothing to show and this is years in to development. The way he talks about the game is so insecure as if he knows there is actually nothing to tell. It sounds like he is constantly apologizing for his game, very weird vibes...

Im gunna be honest. Just the Dialougue "its a game not for everybody". Does give me alittle hope. Thats mostly due to the environment game development is in atm. I am aware lol. I do wanna see more which im so confused why this wasnt that 😂
1:36 So does that mean that we get a Free Pass when we are Breaking You down on your Errors? After this you cannot come back and make excuses as to how you are just Human and why you couldn't get Halo Information Correctly. Why would you suddenly commit the same errors we do, that you cry about? See. You can't Help But Be Human just like the Rest Of Us.
I'm still yet to play an Extraction shooter, I appreciated his explanation. And I'm not a Destiny player, but this seems to be targeted towards Destiny players to inform them what to expect. They know players often exist in a bubble around a single game and understand nothing else.
Im cool with marathon having mp thats based around extraction but a single player campaign would be more interesting. Especially with the visuals they teased. But if its only an extraction shooter my hype is at zero.

Well another microtransactions, season pass, dlcs, game.
You should've deleted this whole video in general. The game sounds like Concord 2.0
No joke this is bad. I have never heard so much nothing with so many words.
This isn’t the Halo1-3 Bungie. Sony destroyed the Bungie devs that the acquired.
Bungie destroyed itself, nothing to do with sony.
@@Danil_JRKbut they will shut them down
@@lildevin16 that was bungies fault for years of being incompetent.
If you’ve been paying any attention, this downfall has been years in the making. Long before the Sony acquisition.
Like Fony always did. ☮️
This game does not look good. Feels like Concord.
Im gunna be honest. Just the Dialougue "its a game not for everybody". Does give me alittle hope. Thats mostly due to the environment game development is in atm. I am aware lol. I do wanna see more which im so confused why this wasnt that 😂
Concord 2.0 👎🏻
1:36 So does that mean that we get a Free Pass when we are Breaking You down on your Errors?
After this you cannot come back and make excuses as to how you are just Human and why you couldn't get Halo Information Correctly.
Like when you couldn't remember where the name 343 came from in 343Industries.
When you're a Content Creator and you know you get chewed out by Audience, and we have seen you react with Anger.
Why would you suddenly commit the same errors we do, that you cry about? See.
You can't Help But Be Human just like the Rest Of Us.
Ah yes….. another game no one wants going out to die.
This didn’t even some like a confident presentation. So many uh, um’s and stumbles
I already had zero interest in Marathon. Bungie is a failing studio. This is an embarrassment.
Maybe Sony cut their budget tremendously?
Down with Bungie
I'm still yet to play an Extraction shooter, I appreciated his explanation. And I'm not a Destiny player, but this seems to be targeted towards Destiny players to inform them what to expect. They know players often exist in a bubble around a single game and understand nothing else.
Im cool with marathon having mp thats based around extraction but a single player campaign would be more interesting. Especially with the visuals they teased. But if its only an extraction shooter my hype is at zero.
They just put a camera in front of this dude and just let him rif like a damn twitch streamer
Whoever thought this was going to generate positive buzz needs to go back to working on Destiny to utilize their time better.
Why play this when Deep Rock Galactic exists????
