I use you videos for anxiety releif. If you were ever having a rough day, try to remember the hundreds of thousands of times you’ve made someone else’s better!
This is my favourite kind of cooking. Simple, no frills, and just proves that you don't need a huge kitchen crammed with top of the line appliances to make quality food. :D.
Had a Fish n Chip shop many years ago. Total respect for your camp catering version, absolutely first class. Nowadays instead of Adnams bitter (which I do like) I think I will try the batter with their Ghost Ship. Them Citria Hops might impart a nice lemony flavour. Holy moly man youve really got my taste buds going. Steve
Eating good in the woods. I live in the US but had a chance to work at the Mini plant in Oxford helping them with some logistic issues for 6 weeks about 7 years ago. Enjoyed fish and chips on the Thames several times.
Simon, one of the reasons I so like your channel is how you show without fuss and 'preaching' how to carefully and safely cool down and clean up the remains of your camp/cook fires. It just follows as a natural part of the process of looking after the lovely places you visit.
Simon that fish and chip meal looks amazing and so darn delicious. It also has a great presentation with the mushy peas and tartar sauce. Thank you for sharing Simon!
I can always tell how good Simons cooking is when he takes his first mouthful of gives a verdict with a "mmmmmm".....the longer the "mmmmm" the better the taste is, and that certainly looked delicious, and my mouth was watering for sure. Great episode as usual.
Scottish but live in the US and this video brought back so many great memories camping up the north of Scotland and stopping later for the best fish n chips….thank you! ♥️⛺️🍃
You were so happy, I felt happy watching. Viewed an oldie yesterday: Simon working his way through a 24-hour ration pack. We were all laughing out loud, here down under. You are great company Simon, and a super-talented bushcraftsman. Oh, and thanks for the recipes.
what an inspiration! I bet my husband would LOVE that for supper one night this week. Needed this wonderful content this afternoon to save me from the mind numbing boredom of keyboarding and answering pointless questions all day long! Thank you for sharing. Content was superb, as always! Take care and be safe out there! 🧡🧡👍👍😊😊🙏🙏
You do realise that you have raised the bar exponentially with this one Simon....my Mrs will never again settle for a tin of beans n sausage or a pot noodle when camping....😢❤😂😂
Greetings, Simon, from Kentucky! It's always a pleasure to enjoy a moment with you via video - Here, I finally got back to the woods to visit our Spring ephemirals - glad you won't have to do any more snow camps for a while - those looked brutal! Cheers!
Eating sumptuously in a primitive/camping situation? Hard to believe until seen. I admire your leave-no-trace-camping ethic. Another great video. Thanks again.
Hey Simon, from our family to yours... we are sorry to hear about Maggie. the hard part of having dogs and its never easy so we are with you brother! Also caught some of your videos with Kent and the one or one you took your boy along... that was a nice little adventure with Thomas and Maggie... good for you man! Cheers, State Side Salty!
Well Done! Video certainly lived up to my expectations after reading Description. Hadn't heard of mushy peas and was surprised to learn they come that way from a can. 😄 Nice job on clean-up too 👍
That looks great! But one of the best things about coastal path walks is finding a good pub serving fish n chips at the end of the day. Feels like luxury!
Love all your videos, the camera work, lighting, filming, editing, sound are so solid. Its amazing to me that you pull this off so consistently. A joy to watch. All that said, this one is a reminder to me about why I don't deep fry at home, much less while camping. So much oil, so much mess--I'll leave it to the professionals, thank you! But, you be you, Simon!
Hi Simon 😊, wow fish and chips twice, whith extras, you certainly excelled yourself in this one, and no pesky seagulls trying to steal it lol. Thanks for another great video mate, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
Ah, Simon - the pinky sticking out just shows your classy side! LOL can you imagine mate some fox coming along through the woods and wondering about smelling fish that far from the sea? thanks for sharing
I just watched another channel and that guy visiting London paid £22.50 for virtually this same meal, can you believe. Fish £10.50. Chips £3. Curry sauce £1.90. Peas £1.90. Free tartar sauce. £2.50 service charge. £2.70 drink. VAT etc. It was robbery. I was surprised you did the whole process. Great vid, Simon.👍
Mmm what a treat! It’s made me hungry watching it, craving chips and thirsty for a few jars of Adnams to help it go down ..deep fat frying in the woods - who’d have thought!
Wow, did those fish and chips look good .. and I impressed that you lugged a Dutch iron stove, and a liter of cooking oil into the woods. And I’m sorry I didn’t eat more fish and chips when I was in Scotland last year… fish and chips are the UK’s contribution to great world cuisine
Thank you Simon for the effort you take in making these videos. Just making fish and chips sounds simple and mundane in a kitchen. Taking it into the field just brings cooking posibilities into another dimension. It simply brings joy to the watcher! I could even smell the fish cooking. Please keep up your good and uplifting excursions!
That looked fantastic Simon . I hark back to the good ( not for the health though) days when we used to have a chip pan in the house , then came the oven chips 🥺 the air fryer is a slight recent improvement .
I was just reminiscing a couple days ago about a restaurant they had when I was a kid: Arthur Treacher's. Then I fing a video on making real British fish & chips. Awesome!
" No beer was wasted in the making of this video". Ok, I made that up but it feels true. Oh, no teenager to foist the cast iron off on. Plus the weight of the oil and beers! Super man!!!!!!!!!
Fish and chips has long been one of my favorite meals. Beer battered cod. There's only one thing better on the planet. And you went all out. Tartar sauce, lemon and malt vinegar! That looked like a tartar sauce I could eat and enjoy. Here in the US, people want to dump sugar into everything. I hate that. I think I might steal your recipe. 😁
You never fail to amaze me Simon, that looked absolutely delicious. I’m a chef and spent most of my life in the army so I know how difficult it can be to do that style of cooking. Well done you 🎉🎉🎉
I LOVE your channel Simon…after all is said and done you show the camp site clean up!!! WELL DONE MATE👍🙏❤️🙏 PS STAY SAFE AND SAY HI TO THE FAMILY AND SWEET MAGGIE!🙏❤️
Feierabend..and Simon has a video for us... perfect combination 🎉 I was waiting for the vinegar 😂 I never thought it was used to make the salt stick better, but here you go - thanks 👍🏻
I use you videos for anxiety releif. If you were ever having a rough day, try to remember the hundreds of thousands of times you’ve made someone else’s better!
Batter surely!😄
Simon - your videos should be prescribed on the NHS to help folks deal with anxiety - they’re so calming!
Imagine you're on a nice walk in the Norfolk countryside and then all of a sudden, the smell of fish and chips wafts up your nose 😂
Got to feel sorry for the wildlife in these localities. All those aromas but zero chance of enjoying the food!
I'd worry I was having a aneurysm 🤣🤣🤣
Ah Bliss😋
I bet it tasted ten times better with wood smoked flavours.
@@tarmacdemon doesn’t everything? :)
This is my favourite kind of cooking. Simple, no frills, and just proves that you don't need a huge kitchen crammed with top of the line appliances to make quality food. :D.
Simon's back! 4.2K views within 3 hours of posting this video. Simon eats fish. Simon drinks beer. Simon walks about. And we all watch!
Had a Fish n Chip shop many years ago. Total respect for your camp catering version, absolutely first class.

Living the dream 😊 makes me homesick, a welsh man living in Sweden.
Thank you Simon for having us for lunch, although it was a bit one-sided on the portions. Thank you, you always tend to gladden my day.
Hi Simon, I'm so sorry to hear about Maggie. All my best to yourself and your family. Stay strong my friend. 👊
Eating good in the woods. I live in the US but had a chance to work at the Mini plant in Oxford helping them with some logistic issues for 6 weeks about 7 years ago. Enjoyed fish and chips on the Thames several times.
Well I'd not thought of doing this in my dutch oven, but now I've seen this I'm definitely trying it! Nice one.
Simon, one of the reasons I so like your channel is how you show without fuss and 'preaching' how to carefully and safely cool down and clean up the remains of your camp/cook fires. It just follows as a natural part of the process of looking after the lovely places you visit.
The only thing I dislike about your videos is…I have already watched all of them.
How is that possible when he keeps making new ones?
Bloody hell, a portion fit for a King Simon, by God that liked good. Your a joy to watch mate.
Simon that fish and chip meal looks amazing and so darn delicious. It also has a great presentation with the mushy peas and tartar sauce. Thank you for sharing Simon!
Fish chips mushy peas cooked on an open wood fire. Food of the gods 😋👍
When an Englishman is cooking Fish and Chips in the woods on fire! You know its good!!
Remember how chippy chips used to look, that was gorgeous.
Pretty damn amazing 😮, I’d never even consider Fish and Chips out in the field, but here you are, showing us all up 😊
I don't think you could do it if you were camping out, imagine the weight of that cast iron pot and the cooking oil, plus your camping equipment.
I can always tell how good Simons cooking is when he takes his first mouthful of gives a verdict with a "mmmmmm".....the longer the "mmmmm" the better the taste is, and that certainly looked delicious, and my mouth was watering for sure. Great episode as usual.
Hahaha - yes, that was a long mmmmm 😁
Scottish but live in the US and this video brought back so many great memories camping up the north of Scotland and stopping later for the best fish n chips….thank you! ♥️⛺️🍃
Freshly cooked fish and chips out in the open, the chips looked perfect, absolutely spot on,cheers Simon.👍👌💥
You, Sir, are a culinary genius! 😋🤣👍
Fish n chips in the woods!!!! Witch craft I say ♥️🍺🍺♥️
two words you mentioned .." Oh yes"...says it all for me and....well done I SAY !
You were so happy, I felt happy watching. Viewed an oldie yesterday: Simon working his way through a 24-hour ration pack. We were all laughing out loud, here down under. You are great company Simon, and a super-talented bushcraftsman. Oh, and thanks for the recipes.
If you were my dad, I would never let you leave the house without me.
Looks delish.
I made fish and chips for dinner tonight, and used your recipe. Turned out perfect! I used an Irish ale, which gave the batter a nice dark color.
Ain't nature brilliant? BRRRRILLIANT

Thanks Simon! I needed a video like that after a stressful week at work. Even more so since I just realised it's only Wednesday!
Watching you fix this meal all I can think of is Yum! Beautifully done!

That satisfying smile after the chip said it all 😋😋🙌🙌👍👍

Yes bro! 💚 Can't wait for our woodland grub in a couple of weeks!
Me neither matey! 😁
@@simonablokeinthewoods should have sent me the left overs of the chips lol
Fair play Simon your cooking in the woods is something else .I couldn't cook that in a kitchen 😂😂
My #1 bushcrafting UA-cam channel! Thanks Simon.😎

Looked like a monster portion, but very delicious at the same time. I rarely have fish and chips, but when I do I love it.
Great looking fish and chips, Simon. Thanks.
I usually give a thumbs up at the end of the video, but this one gets it immediately after reading the Description 😋 🤤 👍
Well Done! Video certainly lived up to my expectations after reading Description. Hadn't heard of mushy peas and was surprised to learn they come that way from a can. 😄
Nice job on clean-up too 👍
Fish and chips sound great. I do not have those, but what I do have is popcorn and a good imagination.👍
I love fish & chips. Never thought to make the dish in the woods, or out camping. Great video, Simon
Fish and chips!! One of my favorite meals. Another great day outdoors.
I know what I'm having for supper! With a couple of large pickled onions !
Mcgyver....a bloke in the Woods, brilliant. I just imagine all the local wildlife sitting there drooling 🤤

Just in time for my lunch break! Thanks , as always, Simon for making this amazing content!
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE meal of all time.
Hi Simon, great vid, really cheered me up. When can I come camping with you and sample some of that fantastic F&C!! 😋😋 Cheers Paul
Mouth watering watching you eat the beer battered fish!
Spun steel, enough said. You gotta give the Aussies their due. Excellent as usual, plus an engaging host.
