Always proud to hear positive messages in the world of politics. I'm still saddened by Gowdy's planned departure from higher politics, and salute his public service.

I'm a little disappointed in all the negative comments, but maybe it's a habit that we've all gotten in to. I for one am greatly inspired by both of these politicians and their desire to do justly. We all need to be more open-minded in the ability to get along with one another and to live in unity. We don't have to always agree to get along, these two have admitted on other interviews that they don't always agree but because they've become friends, they are willing to work together. I'm thankful they are willing to set an example.

Call me cynical but [most] American politicians these days write books for two reasons: Money and self-promotion.

Heartwarming. Congressmen Scott and Gowdy seem to be men of good moral character that represent my conservative values on a national level. I'm not one of their constituents because I'm not a resident of South Carolina. Regardless, both men have my support. Thank you Congressmen Gowdy for years of service to our nation as you move on to other important and meaningful endeavors outside of Congress. I wish both men continued success in building momentum toward challenging people to question their own perceptions, beliefs and attitudes of serious issues facing our nation. This is not to suggest giving up one's own values, but instead, simply looking inward and ask yourself if what you believe is truly good and consistent with the moral fabric of our nation. Furthermore, recognizing that it's okay to admit you might have been close-minded and wrong for a very long time. Additionally, having the restraint to not point fingers and humiliate others when they might admit they were wrong. Civil discourse is healthy, but let it happen with mutual respect, an open-mind and forgiveness. Focus on solving root issues. Yes, symptoms of those issues often need be addressed properly. However, don't let that cloud or distract our resolve to move forward in a way that is productive and good.
