    • @Kalriostraz
      @Kalriostraz 4 роки тому +67

      This video is actually fantastic. He lays out a great way to determine whether the moon and sun are near or far by comparing their size based on two different observers spaced far apart. If the size is different, the moon/sun is close (FE model). If it's not different, they're far away (RE model). The 'problem' is that he simply assumes they will be different sizes and goes from there, without ever actually testing it. But it's a damn good experimental proof for one or the other.

    How do we know it's closer if you don't believe in the scientific measurements that prove it is so?
    Have people stood on the moon? If not, then how do you know it's closer or even a different size from the sun?

      Its just during the Ancient Greek time, those that didn't believe that the Earth is a sphere doesn't get to speak in a public forum, they are ignored for being the dumb dumb that they are.
      Only those with actual credentials and education gets to speak and write things down in the ancient times.
      Its just that with Internet, it allows all people to share their thoughts, regardless of how stupid or crazy it is.
      We had hoped that we were mature enough to ignore the stupid and crazy ones , we thought we were ready for the Internet, but apparently we miscalculated the intelligence level of people and forget that those should be ignored tend to gravitate toward each other and eventually becomes a mob.
      We keep forgetting that mobs with torch forks and fire torches were a thing way back in the old days, people are so easily manipulated and taken advantage of, we are just not mature enough for the Internet.

      He doesn’t know what he is explaining. This whole flat earth thing is about anti-establishmentism. Those who ascribe to it are simply desperate for those with any sort of power or authority to be wrong in what we have been taught/told. If this means using methods of analysis and testing that have been proven faulty for hundreds of years, that is what they will do. The fact that people who are knowledgeable about such related subjects disagree with these ideas only further fuels them because they see it as all part of the brainwashing and programming, as they see it. So, the only proper response to flat earthers is to not even give it the dignity of a response. Treat it like the garbage it is without even having resources used to dispel the myths. Why? Because the science is readily available for anyone with even below average intelligence to come to the logical conclusion that the world is round. Those who wish to ascribe to conspiracy theories and are convinced NASA is lying to us...Leave them to their own devices.

      That's funny , at least he has an open mind . Have any of you globetrotters ever heard of the Van Allen radiation belt ? According to NASA , they are building a probe called Orion . It will pass through the high levels of radiation , twice . Once leaving , and once coming back . Then they will take the probe apart to see the damage to the sensitive equipment from the lethal dose of radiation . Then they will know what to make the spacesuits out of to protect the astronauts . Now like I said , this is NASA saying that . So I am supposed to believe our technology was better in 1969 and our astronauts were able to pass through the belt without dying of radiation sickness ? Not to mention the probe returning by firing their retro rockets in the vacuum of space where there is no air to ignite them ? You globetrotters always say flat Earthers have a narrow mind . NASA has you globetrotters so convinced that when they show you images from space , they don't even have to CGI stars in the background . The only place to train the astronauts is in a giant pool in a monstrous warehouse , where they have a space shuttle and the ISS space station underwater to simulate zero gravity for their spacewalks to practice repairing them , using all the different tools . They have a program on one of the science channels called "NASA'S Unexplained Files " . One episode that I found interesting was the one where an astronaut was doing an actual " spacewalk " when his suit started filling up with water . He barely had enough time to get to the airlock and get his helmet off before he drowned . That was his own story , his own words . Made me wonder , just how much water is needed in a spacesuit before you step into space , or was it filmed in that pool where they CGI the Earth in the background ? Now remember , that was " NASA's Unexplained Files " .

      @Cleptro 4 роки тому +22

      @@jodyharvick307 As for the spacewalk: ever heard of sweat? Anyway, a few of your points are interesting. You mention the ISS (International Space Station). If the world is flat, explain to me how the station (and, indeed, every other artificial satellite, including the ones that power your GPS) orbits the Earth? It doesn't work if Earth is flat. Also, NASA's aspirations for human space travel lately...not going to happen. Since the Space Shuttle program left them basically bankrupt, they're left reusing old parts. And yes, modern technology, at least in terms of outer space, have taken a step down since the sixties. You see, in the '60s, it was less about safety and more about beating the US/USSR, depending on which side we're talking. The astronauts did have protection from the radiation (in the form of a little something I like to call a spaceship), but granted, it was minimal. And some astronauts did suffer. But NASA was willing to risk it to beat the Soviet Union to the Moon. The majority of Apollo astronauts got lucky. Now, though, with the world mostly at peace and highly focused on safety, it requires much more consideration as to what the astronauts will actually go through. Don't follow NASA if you want to see people back in space soon, though. Their SLS has changed far too many times, with more likely coming in the future, and each change inhibits its progress. IMO, SpaceX has the best chance of putting people back into space relatively soon. As for rockets' engines in space: this confused me as well. When I was 5. Lighting fuel aflame is different in space, I'll be honest, I still don't fully understand it, it is, literally rocket science, but it is possible. Fun fact: if a human-carrying spacecraft were to explode in the vacuum of space, there would be no sound. BUT: there would be fire. Since the ship herself releases the oxygen into space, there will be a flash of flames.

      But this is just "rocket science" - rockets engines burn two kinds of fuel, one of then being a oxidizer - that could be liquid oxygen but not necessarily, so they can work in the vacuum, and Newton's third law explain the rest.
      "...they don't even have to CGI stars"
      If they fake stars will be playing against how things work, because see or not see stars in space pictures (or pictures take inside a big city at night) is matter of camera adjusts.

      Actually that's what we did to work out the distance to nearby stars. A parsec is the distance where the angle of difference along the diameter of the earth's orbit around the sun is equal to one arc second (1/3600th of a degree). The distance is 3.26 light years. The nearest star is a little further away than this. All in all, I think the guy accidentally demonstrated that we live on a globe.

So he was correct in saying "that's 45 degrees, that's 45 degrees and that's 45 degrees" what he failed to mention was the pair of 90 degree angles on the base. You could in fact solve for the distances using trigonometry if his set up is accurate as described.
