When dealing with array formulas, you can just reference the cell with the formula in it and add # to it, instead of the entire column. It will update automatically and you won't have all those blanks in your list.
Well paced and clear explanation. However, you’re encouraging people to name fixed ranges of cells instead of using the more advanced feature of Excel: tables (from the Ribbon: Insert >Table), with structured referencing. There are lots of benefits to formally defining tables within Excel wherever you have a list, instead of just making a fixed block of cells. One of the benefits is that they can be reordered by drag and drop. Another is that entries can be added and the table will dynamically resize to include them. Within the data validation pop-up window, you can use indirect addressing name the table as your lookup list.
Great tutorial. Thank you. It would be nice if you can zoom in a little when you type the info in data validation screen. I maximized my screen and it’s still hard to see what you entered in the “source” field.
I generally do zoom in. For this one the zoom would have been too quick for most entries because I'd have to zoom back out quickly for the following information.
Thank you for this insightful tutorial. Quick question on the Searchable Drop List, is there a way to use the Data Validation on a table referencing to several cells on each row? I did a searchable list but cannot apply this search to the next rows as referencing is locked on one searchable cell.
Hi i wanted to ask is it possible if i have a task list and i wanted to make it into drop list as a checkbox, for example, i click 1 name its auto come out the details then the list we need to prepared in 1 column
You can use slicers to select from a list and then use the results selected to vlookup or xlookup data in another table to display based on that selection.
Do you mean using a formula in the source entry? Here is an example that is more detailed than my video: www.automateexcel.com/how-to/drop-down-list-if-statement/
@@SeleTraining No, I mean formula entry into special case item (bottom of the drop down list) I think we can define a formula in order to enter data which matches this written formula.

I am trying to find how to make a drop down list show a permanent down arrow, a much longer list when selected, and how to scroll with a mouse wheel instead of selecting the slide. Am I missing something or are these not possibilities?
I'm using Office Pro Plus 2016. I am using a drop down list that is longer the length of the drop box, how can I expand the drop box so it displays my entire list so I don't have to scroll down?
@@SeleTraining Shucks, but thank you for the quick turn around on a reply. I have watched a few of your videos and I like the format, the clear instructions, visible mouse movements and the explanations. I am now a subscriber and will follow your videos. Good work on clear, concise instruction.

Take a look at Slicers. That may be a better way to handle multiple cells.

can you do a video on . creating a spreadsheet for weekly income to monthly. for tax purpose. thank you.
I don't have plans for that. You may want to check out my Excel for finance video though: ua-cam.com/video/Zi62qARrYZA/v-deo.html
Good presentation.
Can you show us one of the data validation properties named Formula section? How does it work with formula?

Yes, it can be from multiple sheets.

Not familiar with those but Excel has built in protection for your spreadsheet.

Easy to crack for older versions of Excel but I'd love to see any crack for the newer versions. It's solid.

I can see an application of dropdown list for a club roster where the offices and/or committees could in the list to save a lot of typing.
I'm little bit lost in the =Filter(F:F,E1#) ... the E1# is there a shortcut for bringing this one? because I'm typing the "#" and it's not working
Just select the entire column. It changes it to the # when used in a dynamic array.
You have very nice voice. You can sell your voice by reading ebooks. Can you imagine, Alexo! turn off the camera. and your voice: "Yes Madam".
