When I first started watching your videos a couple years ago, I thought 'Man this guy is so good - he catches fish I would holler and yell about, but he is so chill about it like it happens every day!' Then I realized that is the 'Elias' personality which is perfect for fishing videos - always informative and never over the top. When you do get excited, I know it is always genuine and I know it is a big deal! Keep the unedited ones coming!
You've got enough of an audience that's down for just some serious fishing! That's awesome!
Your appeal is your down to earth attitude. Much better than the phony salesmen pretending to catch fish every cast with the magic lure of the week.
Thanks for giving your thoughts on conservation and "entitlement" while you fish, and for setting a good example with the trash. A few years ago I got called a p----y for snagging a grocery bag out of the water at a FL pier and I'm always disappointed in how many "can't tell me nothin" people share this resource.
Yea another keys mini series 😅. Love it
People like these uncut videos cause you're relatable and someone we wouldnt mind fishing with and we appreciate seeing the work that goes into a day on the water instead of just 20 minutes of highlights. I find the overproduced, over edited, screaming every bite kind of content obnoxious. This is just a relaxing day on the water fishing for what makes you happy. Which is what most of us do when we go fishing. I
Thanks. Going to try and keep up the vibe 👍
Dude I just love watching you fish all day LOL
I like listening to your uncut on my way to and from work, 30 minutes. I would try that plug pike / musky fishing.
I received a vr headset for christmas, and these videos are awesome on it. It's nice watching your fish finder when you're talking about the different structure your seeing.
MOMMM, ELIAS JUST POSTED, ILL EAT DINNER LATER
Congrats on that snapper! I think it was a cubera. When I watch these uncut videos it feels like I am out there fishing myself
Bro i always love these keys videos you post man long time follower keep it up im here for the algorithm!
Never stop fishing with lure, that is the purest form of sport fishing!
Lol no it’s not. Try bait on a hook.
@@charlieray3654true fishing is bait on hook true SPORT fishing is fake baits because in most tournaments your only allowed to use fake baits
I’d fish with bait more than too if I didn’t scrub out with it so often.
@@EliasVFishing lol thank you for the honesty. Will say, you’re a jig master. Fucking inspiring as I’m a bait fisherman. Best UA-cam content is guys that do both at the same time
Drifting a crab out back in meantime might add a fun surprise guest
Digging the uncut😊 I could use that deep diver for Potomac river stripers.
Thanks for all your vids, been learning alot from you!! Coming down to sunshine key rv resort in Feb, been going there for a few years but only got out as far as bahia honda bridge and the one next to the campground. Only ever used live shrimp with the kids but hopefully will be trying some new stuff this time after watching all your videos!! Who knows, maybe we'll cross paths! 😊
I’d stick with live shrimp unless you wanna have a day like this 😂 - thanks for watching!
Thanx love watching your fishing uncut.
Get yourself a couple of Bucktail jigs in a quarter ounce half ounce and 3/4 even up to 1 ounce, and different colors white yellow chartreuse the only things that mess them up are Spanish mackerels an barracuda and something else you can do with them put a little strip of fish on the hook, those are my favorite go-to lures and on your spoon just change the hook to a single hook it's not hard at all👍
I have been telling him that for ages!😎
I’m new to this I’ll try it again. Just sharks last time with strips.
On the gulf side of the bridge my bucktails need to be circle hooks if I tip them with bait?
@ No I have never heard that personally and I have been fishing bucktails on both sides of the bridge for years both tipped and non-tipped and never had any problems.😎
@@jayjohnson9668 good to know - I have to pass on that since I was told by FWC other side of US 1 gulf laws apply. Almost got a ticket today.
I’m a fan of that plug in that color specifically. Send it my way and I’ll send you the pics of the Wahoo I catch on it. 😜
Just booked a place in marathon because of your stuff, what bait shop do you recommend Great videos
Tackle Box & Marathon Bait both been solid stops. West Marine for anything else.
I’m with you on hard baits. The only ones I’ve had luck with are whopper ploppers.
Waiting for it warm up here in Hickory.
Those grass flats right behind you on the gulf side has some great trout fishing
Haven’t had luck there yet but I’ll try again!
@EliasVFishing doa shad 1/4 jig head
Recently found your channel and I am so glad I did! I have been dreaming of vacationing down in the keys and fishing was my sole reason to do so. I am a walleye guy from up north, but the salt water is what really intrigues me. You kayak setup is amazing and would love to see a break down of the setup. Would also appreciate any info on public access you use to access the 7 mile. Thanks for all your content sir!
What would I troll that lure for? Grass, and more grass.... then snag it on some structure! 😂
😂
Would love the plug
Really enjoy the uncut vids
Very entertaining and educational for me 1:33:28
Your Contents Great as usual ! BTW, I'll take the rusty scissors and pliers (autographed of course) instead of the plugs, just a suggestion ! Keep it up !
I’ll save you the postage!! You can give it to me personally in marathon next month. Of course, I’ll be buying lunch!!
All kidding aside, my buddy is going to come down for four days next month while I am down, and I sent him this and one of your other videos and told him to study up!
I like trolling a nomad 220 but that plug is great for blackfin and smaller wahoo
7 Mile bridge has some absolute giant hammer head's come the tarpon run. Had one in the 14'-15' range swim under the boat when we were tarpon fishing one March. As for ye old Man-O-War the sting is quite painful but for me at least never needed a hospital visit. Worst sting was right across my stomach from side to side. Had me doubled over for a couple of hours and then I was good again.
Crazy on the man o war. I don’t mess with those areas when the tarpon are there for that reason!
100% mango snapper!
Good job on the light tackle
Another great keys video.
I always worry about when I can’t see the bottom, I imagine Bruce from jaws coming up after my catch.
🦈🦈🦈
So how long did it take for you to feel comfortable fishing by yourself along the bridges???
I’d say after 10 interactions with Brutus I was all set!
Just waiting for Elias to buy a house in the keys so we can watch the keys series every week
Gotta save pennies for that one. Not a cheap place!
@ I’ll keep buying the Elias shad till you can afford it lol
Saw a picture of a 30 and a 31 inch trout today from the Pamlico. Found floating.
Nice lure. Send it to me. Love the uncut fishing. I can relate to all the struggles
Nice mang! 💪
I am 45 minutes in! Still have me hooked. I’ve only surf fish a few times from a couple different vacations caught some Whiting and pompano. I’m on the same page sharks do absolutely nothing for me.
When’s the next time you might be visiting chokoloskee or flamingo? Also have you ever thought about doing night time tarpon fishing near the bridges in Miami? The shrimp run is on fire right now
I’m going to finally get to Flamingo at some point this trip. Never fished it yet.
Use a Mann's Heavy Duty Stretch + for Strippers in the lower Chesapeake Bay area that lure would work just fine , would love to have it
Very interesting videos. I like how you explain what you are doing. How long are you in the keys?
All of February
Will be down there in a week. Will keep an eye out for you.
Uncut is the way to go
Hey Elias any worry about ciguatera with those fish 🐠
I think the barracuda is the one to worry about in that area
@ for sure ! I was reading that schoolmaster snapper in the keys have an increased likelihood of ciguatera for some reason
You mentioned overpaying for fluorocarbon, you ever watch the Salt Strong’s videos on testing flouro vs mono for leaders. It really has me thinking lately, I think I’m going back to mono.
For the giveaway, I usually like trolling bomber long A’s, or husky jerk’s. Those giant x raps work great for barracuda down there.
I haven’t looked into every detail yet, but I still like the way flouro cinches on knots. But at the end of the day it’s probably the least consequential choice you can make on the water to go mono over flouro.
I saw a couple of those videos. The thing is flourocarbon was invented for tuna fishing in mind that are heavy hitters that are very line shy. If you want to stay stealthy line wise you can save by using Seagaur mainline as you leader line. That is kind of a tournament bass fishing secret. It works but it stretches a bit more than the more expensive Seagaur leader line. It all 100% flouro.
Have been using P-Line Floroclear for a number of years - 20lb 300yds around $8.50
I was down in SW Florida last week. Purchased a Grouper from a recommended fish monger. It reminded me of Pacific Halibut, just not as clean in flavor. Low fat content, wasn't my jam. I generally only eat Pacific Salmon, Trout from clean mountain Streams or Red Tail Surf Perch. Really wanted to try some fish down south, just wasn't digging it. How would you rate something like a Snapper compared to a grouper?
@@TheD510addict if you dont like grouper from sw fla then you might as well head back up north.
@jayjohnson9668 ill have to give it another try, but there are still Gulf Shrimp and Stone Crab.
Snapper is also pretty lean, little bit softer than grouper but plays better with citrus or spices. Smaller ones fry or grill whole for an authentic feel. Cero mackerel is rich but I don’t think you’ll find it often since it doesn’t transport well. You might be more into Mahi or Wahoo then imo.
Given how much you seem to enjoy bridge fishing the keys, I'm surprised you haven't developed your own Tough Tugger Shrimp lure and jig head.
Haha pretty sure no one would buy them - you can go through the comments on every keys video and see how bad I get roasted.
You need to replace your treble hooks with single in line hooks to fish through grass. We do on the Texas flats all the time. Especially in warmer months. If the top water bite is good enough, single hooks will allow you enough clean retrieves and partial retrieves to catch plenty of fish where without them you’d be grass immediately every cast and little to no possibility to catch fish.
The inlines I put on that nomad must have been too big?
@ So, sometimes there is too much grass for the headache and the amount of grass. Only being there and casting can tell you. The in line hook gap should be roughly the size of the width of the entire stock treble hook. Honestly, I didn’t see you use or put on in line hooks, I was doing other things while watching the video and didn’t catch that. Only that you were having problems with the grass 😝 So I don’t know what you were using for single hooks. The front hook should be gap forward while the rear hook gap facing backwards for ideal hookup chances. I would imagine that if your hooks were too big, you’d catch extra grass…but it can also affect the action of the plug negatively. Sometimes even with single hooks, you just land in a patch of grass every other cast and you can’t do anything about it. The fish wanna eat top water but you can’t work your plug for even a half a cast without having a salad on the hooks. Nothing you can do. Also depends on how much action. If I can keep my plugs somewhat free of grass…and it’s getting me blowups every 3-5 casts. I’ll fight the grass a lot more than if I am getting more salads than I am blowups.
I fish top water every single day I go fishing on the Texas Coastal Bend except when the water gets really cold. Mid afternoon, clear water and high sun also tough most of the time…Even then, ya never know. Tight lines Elias🎣🤙🏻🍻
As a loyal watcher and from Staten Island, I think I should be sent the rapala lure lol
Save those weighted hooks from the pre-rigged shrimp! You can always slide a zman ez shrimp on that, and you get more fishing out of that hook.
Blue runners are good table fish, even sashimi!
You got that right! Cooking with clams had a great episode with them
Hi Elias … I’m down here in Florida and I would be doing the same type of fishing out of a kayak as you are in the Keys. I looked up your kayak model and I’m interested to know how you like it and how old is your kayak? Thank you
This kayak is over a year old now. I wish I had a kayak for some lighter trips, but overall this kayak is my number one choice for big days on the water.
Elias is your yak an Old Town SPORTSMAN AUTOPILOT 120?
Old town ePDL
Just in case anyone IS interested in the science behind man-o-war/jellyfish stings: Their tentacles are lined with small bodies called nematocysts. Each nematocyst is like the barrel of a gun, loaded with a spring-loaded, barbed syringe of venom. When the tentacle touches a threat or prey, the nematocysts fire into the flesh of the target, delivering the pain/paralysis we recognize as coming from these critters. Vinegar, particularly white vinegar, applied to a sting can help to prevent unfired nematocysts OF SOME SPECIES from going off, but will not do anything for the ones that have already penetrated the skin/flesh. It can, however, trigger the nematocysts of other species to fire.
The Red Cross recommends this process for jellyfish stings, at least in the US: First safely remove the tentacles by rinsing or scraping with a blunt object. If adverse symptoms are occurring, like paralysis or anaphylaxis, dial 9-1-1 immediately. Otherwise, soak in the hottest water the victim can tolerate for 20 minutes or until the pain stops. A hot compress can also be used, but a bath or shower is better.
Wow thanks for all that. Fun facts for sure! I was interested in it!
@@EliasVFishing Happy to, brother. When I lived in Daytona, we used to find tons of man-o-war washed up on the beach in the summer. It was like a minefield.
I use them for Pike and Walleye in Quebec!
Very interesting
How do you fish top water and jerk baits in heavy grass???? You don’t!!!! Unless u want to get irritated. But what you can do is rig a weedless rig and pull it just under the surface. I fish mostly the same way you do, I’m in NC also. Love the paddle tails and gulp baits!!!
Alright, this is the Berkeley bait. I wanted to see you throw out of the ones that they sent you this white colored one.
I give it a soft recommend. That other spot even though “I was fishing it wrong” had too many jacks.
I grew up going from Cape May, NJ to Marathon in January. Weather was always hit or miss. Mostly misses on conditions. We always destroyed the Yellow Tail mixed with whatever on the Atlantic side. We put oatmeal fluttered in our chum slick to give it a glitter effect. My buddy got married there in May years back and the weather was perfect the whole time.
hope you catch squid soon, it is one of my most exciting fish.

Mangrove snapper or Gray snapper at 19:45 secs
The smaller blacktip sharks are great smoked and make a shark dip out of.👌👌. Its excellent for dip!😎
How many times do you have to change batteries and SD card in a 3hr uncut?
I use a battery pack and large SD card
@EliasVFishing many thanks for the reply. I do enjoy the longer uncut content.
That certate sounds cooked😮
I troll whatever I see you trolling. 🎉❤
I take 18kg of frozen fish fillets from Norway to the UK in a cooler every time I go. It takes me a day and a half to get home and the fish remains frozen.
That first keeper is not a Cubera, it’s a 15 inch mangrove snapper.
Got it. Feel stupid now 😂
I like to slow troll mini mac's for wipers.
I think that floating weeds in the current pretty much negates topwater fishing. I love my Phenix rods but they are brittle, no doubt about it. Have you noticed that overstate the power ratings a bit, as in a medium power Phenix rod is really a medium light in the real world. And finally: did you say Meg is pregnant? If yes, congrats!!
Have to disagree on the dogfish. Yes you do have to care for properly. Which really is just clean quickly. Pretty good baked but awesome beer battered
It does make a good fried option you are right. Crispy batter.
The long content will hopefully be able to last I enjoy seeing how you break stuff down my dad taught me how to fish and he just didn’t have the care to explain how he would work a piling or really anything so seeing it in long form does wonders for me you’re personality also works great for me life is not peaches and cream I’m not interested in some of the energy people force into their videos
Howdy Elias. G Too cold for me down here. I think Justin/Kayak Catfish is looking for sharks somewhere down that way. You guys are getting me through the cold weather. Nice Cubera. Realize we watch because we like the creators ..... every one gets bored with fish after fish.. I;m not much on catching Sharks either. I personally cringe when I see people hitti or put them o ice and leave them be. @EliasVFishing what shoes are you wearing? I changed my days OFF to Thur and FRI so I don't have to fish the weekends, Too crowded. I wonder if you would get out of some of that grass if you were clocer to
"Fred The Tree"? Absolutely more Goliath around. Ic an tell you've covered because it looks like y9u are oin the other side of Fred the Tree. The bites picks up going from ssun to shadow. Your in the shadow getting the bar jack bites. Cast to the shadows, thats where thy bite. Every cast of yur har bait was in the sun Frst cast with FFS white bait was in the shade. Was a good day. Thanks
We tried to link up but he left as soon as I got back. Think he had a great trip overall!
Just some Amazon booties. They aren’t bad. Lot of grass for plugs this day.
@@EliasVFishing You had a really great day in not great conditions. I watch people because I like the way you fish. Doesn't take a 100 fish to keep me interested. I;m more interested in hearing what you think and how you look at things, Thanks for replying.
Yo Zuri crystal minnow for trolling to the spot
Live shrimp can be in a baggy in your ice..no special transport needed.
How long do you think they’ll stay alive and then get revived? I’ve had success with this in cold climates but in the warmer climates they seem to die on me in an hour or so.
*Power Snitch* Rat Lures Coming Soon!
The "brain spike" ... the Japanese unit should be helpful. No way to do the entire process on a kayak, but it's a good step. The less lactic acid in the meat, the better it cooks and stores.
BTW you dont need a special brain spike tool. A regular old ice pick for 2$ works just as good. Its clean quick effective and cheap! Dont waste your$ on a “brain spike” tool…..its an ice pick🤣🤣
if you need to send some plugs I will always be willing to try them..........

Hello brother, I follow your videos from Egypt and I always feel excited.
🫵👍👍
be careful some big ass hammerheads out there .....
Oh yea I’ve had a bump in with one or two…
Elias, I love your channel, your fishing methods, and on-camera demeanor. But at this point in my life there's no way I can carve out 3 (+/-) hours for a video. I so wish I could. I let the play while I work but I can't really be as attentive as I'd like.
I retire (again) in 45 days. Maybe then.
Appreciate it either way. Hope I can get someone or maybe another computer to edit these down into ten min clips for another channel.
@@EliasVFishing Rest assured, as long as you continue fishing and putting out videos, you'll be my number ONE fishing guru.
I hate loose grass...makes it extremely difficult to fish...with any lure, with any technique.
I used to tune in every video. But since you started doing the uncut deal. No longer😢
New channel coming soon for short vids!

id like some free lures
Theres an old saying in the Keys…’If it aint chartruese then theres no use”. It pertains to both braid and lure color😂😂! Its been working for many many years.😎 Just sayin
Thats a mangrove not a Cubera.
That grinding in reel really hurts my ears 🤐
That Certate is going in the trash don’t worry.
Sounds like a Silstar or Pinnacle. Haha. Remember those? They sounded like that out of the box.
