  • We crossed the Painted Desert into New Mexico and our very first stop was the Zuni Pueblo. Recently opened for visitors to tour, the Zuni Pueblo is still very much alive with tribe members, culture and traditions. After asking permission, our tour guide Sean was kind enough to allow us to film his tour of the Middle Village - where the Zuni people were preparing for their Summer Solstice celebrations.
We are incredibly grateful to Sean and the Zuni people for inviting us to tour their pueblo. If you decide to go to the Zuni Pueblo on your way into western New Mexico (and we highly suggest you do!), please stop at the Zuni Visitor Center first and only tour the Middle Village with an official Zuni guide.
As always, thanks for watching! This was a special one for us and we hop you enjoyed. Please like this video and subscribe to the channel - we appreciate your support!

Next time ask me for a tour. I'm from the middle village and get you access to the actual sacred dances but no cameras. Yes access to view from within the actual middle kiva where all sacred dances are held. My relatives all own the south part of the buldings

When I lived next door on the Ramah Navajo Chapter, Zuni's weren't big on cameras.

The story he told about Esteban wasn't the truth he was captured by religious leaders his rattle was thrown on the ground and smashed and was told to not run while he was investigated , he then tried to escape at night and was caught and k***ed with a ax, the us government accuired the area from Mexico some time after the treaty of hidalgo ,with terms not to disturb the citizens already living in the areas established by them . I am zuni and parts of the story your guide told weren't the truth. Look up the PBS special surviving Columbus it tells the more accurate stories.
