    Amazing video as always. My favourite part is 9:26 where Noel says "let me know downstairs", then corrects himself.

    Wellesbourne sure is a busy airfield! A great video though of a very busy flight as well. Sadly I've tested positive for Covid but I have been watching so many videos including some of these and they are keeping me entertained. Great stuff Noel and keep up the great work!

    Yeah, I already know I'm going to get teary-eyed the second that I'm able to see the sky above the clouds, especially if it's a rainy departure. It'll probably be even more incredible than the first time I was ever on a plane. Just need the time off to plan a trip for the first time since 2020. Hell, if the new job I'm in the final round of interviews for this week pans out, I could even entertain getting back into flying as a hobby.

    So first things first, I had no idea that you had this channel, then I learnt that you aren't only VFR rated, but also IFR rated so well done Noel. You seem like quite a competent pilot. I had a flight experience in a Cessna 172 which I loved.

    Hey again Noel, yeah, EGBW has always been a busy little place, gets even busier when they do a fast taxi run on the Vulcan, that brings the visitors in lol! Glad you visited the cafe too, I used to use it during my lunch break when I was working at the industrial estate to the left of RWY18 when you departed. Thanks for another great video, keep it safe fella, and I'll see you on the next one. :)

    Landing with the sun right in your face is tough enough, but it looks like the windscreen could have been cleaned a little better. Saw some water deposits. I was always a stickler for clear wind screens when I was flying, both on rented and owned aircraft.

    Heaving the yoke in and out a few times with a strong wash can create a rocking movement to help free up the nosewheel. Was the food any good at Wellesbourne? Would love to know what waypoints you used from Wellesbourne to Gamston, and whether you took a basic service from Birmingham or East Midlands. Thanks for the video.

      @@FlyWithNoelPhilips As a student I'm really interested in the detail. Can you tell me about the landing back at Gamston? It looks like you went around - I couldn't work out any other interpretation of the twice down the runway. And cos of airspace you have to approach the airport below 2000ft anyway, so what altitude would I use for an overhead join? Any wisdom much appreciated.

    • @FlyWithNoelPhilips
      @FlyWithNoelPhilips  2 роки тому

      Yes I had to go around on this one due to the sun in my eyes and one on the runway that I couldn't clearly see. You approach below 2,000ft to remain inside the ATZ that only goes up to 2,000ft. Typically I hit the overhead at 1,500 and then descend, joining downwind at 1,000, all AGL.

    aAH - CLOSE - wait until you can look down into the cockpit of a Hunter and see how fast he's going, or have an A10 head on and you push he pulls vertical and his wingman takes a few seconds to do the same -had it all whilst flying my sailplane in the UK . The best is when the two 'Utterly Butterly' Stearmans formated on me off each wingtip, with the girls on top of the wings waving at me.

      Wellesborne is an uncontrolled airfield, and the ATC is advisory only. This is pretty common. I believe the majority of airports worldwide are untowered

    • @FlyWithNoelPhilips
      @FlyWithNoelPhilips  2 роки тому

      It's there if you want it, but too few controllers to cover too much of the country. I'd have that on a traffic service with Birmingham, but in reality I would have been out of their coverage within a few minutes so just went straight to East Midlands. Often not worth adding to their workload in uncontrolled airspace, especially when they're busy.
