SAD JUMP ROPES
my p bass when I play in Eb
Struggle Is real fam
@@Roberto-tc1fd I solved it with a 1st gen TL5, plenty of woof and bomp and noneya limpy floppo ha ha ha, and stupidly so - I have no idea what the scale is besides leaving craters in the earth
also a pair of Sunn/Fender Bassman 1200S might be what's stuck in my neighbor's craw lol
Watching Nate's reviews is so rewarding. It's not often that you cross paths with someone that is, at once, a phenomenally good player, clear and articulate in his use of language, deeply knowledgable of instrument engineering and construction, and so very well educated in music theory. A true joy to watch, listen, and learn.
Thanks, Erik!
“Sad Jump Ropes” is the name of my future solo project for sure
It's not often I'm blown away by someones bass playing, but man. Nathan/Nate wants me to evolve as a bass player.
He's a little beyond !
huh. part of the reason I’m a bassist who owns a 5-string is because I’ve always just liked lower notes better, but at some point you stop being able to hear them, and on my bass you can’t really go much lower than B standard while still being able to make out the note, and I assumed that that was because of the range of human hearing. But this thing can play in G standard, and I can hear it just fine. Nice demo.
the multi-scale really seems to help with the clarity of that b string
It might as well be your amp. Most cabs or combos just don't go low enough for a five string.
@@matejgrim they may not go low enough for the fundamental, but it will reproduce the the harmonics fine.
Scale length of the instrument is a huge part of it, but the power/frequency of your amp and speakers will play into this, too.
I'll also note he is pushing a ton of highs.
This bass is very interesting to me. Sounds great and doesn’t look sci-fi.
69th like lol
But anyway I do agree with you, I looks amazing and sounds great!
This is something I really love with Spector. They've got the sound and still keep this nice looking shapes.
Queue pokemon music:
*Your Nathan evolved into Nate!*
Exploding head emoji....we know these basses sound great, but WOW!
Thanks for your work !! The best basses I had in my hands were Spectors'. Heart emoji + flame + flame +thumb up
the opening riff might be some of the coolest bass playing I've ever seen. truly br00tal
Dude! Any bass in Nathan's hand sounds amazing 😂
And all knuckleheads think they will sound even close to this because of the bass.
🤦♂️
I feel that if you play bass enough, your voice grows on the low end too
Pure fact
lol same
tall people tend to have deeper voices, and i think he’s pretty tall
This must mean that Warwick will be releasing a multiscale soon. *Thumbs crossed*
Shots fired but i would love to see a thumb multi scale tbh
Thumbs crossed, hehe. Literally.
They already did release a multiscale corvette in their rockbass line.
@@kevslittlebassshack976 haven't actually heard about that now I gotta look
It's a shorter multiscale closer to what Ibanez has on offer. If Warwick made a 34-37 and it wasn't $3-4k I'd probably get one. This Spector sounds like a good compromise between Warwick and Dingwall though.
As soon as you went to passive both pickups in single I was like "ahhhh there it is"
Yeah, I mean that’s it right? To my ears it’s really close to the classic Spector EMG/tonepump tone
I was dead set on saving for a dingwall, but this bass definitely has my attention. So fat sounding and clear. Love the tone 🤯🔥🤘🏻
I recommend checking out Ibanez’s multi scale btb and sr basses. Nice multi scale basses that are a little cheaper.
I’d take the Spector over Dingwall, personally- more comfortable to play IMO and I love the Fishmans sound
@@tristanwelch424to me that would be the opposite. I find the 17mm string spacing tight and uncomfortable, unfortunately
So cool to see u grow as a musician. been watching ur content since the hot hand days.
This demo is incredible because:
1) Extremely beautiful bass capable of diverse bass tones (I want one so bad)
2) Very good amplification and recording.
3) Your good vibe and simplicity to review.
4) And most importantly, your low voice...gives me goosebumps (in a good way of course)
Keep on the good work!
Kind regards.
Fernando from Argentina.
Spectors sound unbelievably amazing. I am madly in love with mine.
Tone monster! The pick throw was the definition of badass! 🔥
Dang that intro slaps. I am happy to see Spector finally join the multiscale gang.
I would love to hear a full song. It's so badass
I've had this very model on order for about a month now, and probably have another month to wait until it gets here. Not that I'm thinking about it constantly or anything... It's just that I've never owned an instrument this nice, and the bass I'm upgrading hails from the "starter" side of the Ibanez Soundgear line, with noisy, clacky frets and a sloppy B string, even after visits to the bass doctor. I'm just a little excited for this upgrade :)
Mine just came in today!! I've played around with it for a couple hours now, and I can say, without a doubt, it's every bit as amazing as I hoped and then some. This thing is a TONE MONSTER in every config I've tried, and it is absolutely noise free. I heard Spector was known for its "piano-like tone", but this is on another level. Seriously.
I'll never get another Ibanez anything!
Love it. I bought one yesterday. Went in for an Ibanez SG 5 but thought I’d try a multi scale. I instantly fell in love with it. I got mine in Haunted Moss paint work. Not only is it a nicer guitar to play than the Ibanez but the build quality and finish are far superior.
I been watching your demos for quite a few years, you make any bass sound good. You are an inspiration to any budding bass player, although I've been playing for years, you never cease to amaze me.
Wow, thanks!
I've never been more hyped for a bass in my life. This is definitely a must-have for me.
Your demos far surpass any that I've come across. Great work dude!
Everytime I‘m THAT close to start my own yt channel I come across one of your videos and I throw these thoughts away.
That intro track was just amazing ❤️
You can do it! There's quite a difference between this video and my first YT video. 😅
@@NateNavarro Alright! But you have to watch it! :-D
Every bass Nate play sound amazing!
I always had an affinity for spector basses. always love the way they sound. That one you have sounds unreal, incredible multiscale is here.
My god that intro was VICIOUS! Super excited to see more brands getting involved with multiscales
And here I was thinking whether to get a Spector or a Dingwall. Looks like the best of both worlds.
This bass is more than I had hoped to spend, but it may in the end be my ticket into multi-scale bass. Great sounds. Great demo.
Imo the clarity is exceptional! Standard earbuds, studio monitors, hifi headphones, even phone speakers - the lowest note is always clearly audible. Also first demo that made the fish man's sound impressive. Rest was standard checklist modern metal darkglass sound and nothing more... Like yeah, sounds modern and darkglassy. Great demo...
But this video shows it all and doesn't let it drown in overdrive or distortion. Great stuff, great video! Finally someone gets how it should be done. 😌
4:44 OMG That's the best tone ever!!!
Sounds like Mudvayne.
Pick toss in the intro sold me on this bass
My God what a wicked Bass. I love the versatility of this Instrument. The design is really funky.
It can't be a bass test without the legendary BRBR DENG
Seeing many of my fav metal bands play Spector basses recently, and hearing over and over the versatility of the Fishman Fluence pickups, I am going to pick up one soon, in the haunted moss matte finish
That is a beautiful bass. You need to give fieldy one of those. Beautiful clean sound. I don’t play fives but I did the other day and was sold. Been playing since “88”.
Man spector basses are incredible! They are the coolest basses I've ever seen and they sound great! Very good review very good!
Finally found a dealer near by that had one in stock! Really looking forward to try it out. Been playing a Warwick Thumb NT for over 20 years. But who knows… time to switch?
Thanks for all your cool and educational videos Nathan (ordered your book a couple of days ago)!
The Fishmans sound great but if I'm buying a Spector, I really want that Spector sound! A beautiful bass though! I wonder if it feels like you have to "reach" for the lowest notes like some complain about with Dingwall.
The sound of Voice 2 in humbucker mode, shown at 4:15, felt most like my Euro 5. Here's a song with my Euro 5 upfront in the mix to compare: ua-cam.com/video/UMlBxCPuUnI/v-deo.html
Passive clean sounds like a jazz on steroids
that thing makes my whole house vibrate
I am always amazed when I watch you play
IMO the bass sounds better passive. Especially with the Low B string
That low G is just... insane!
Amazing demo! Thank you, Nathan:) always good to watch you demoing a bass;) nice choice of notes and drums styles!
Literally everything about this bass is perfect
Apart from the gloss neck!!
@@eveythingthatsadam what's so bad about that?
@@ПавелСимаков-ж6й horribly sticky when you sweat
@@eveythingthatsadam oh.. now i see
This is what I’ve been looking forward to! I record ambient music in f# standard this literally sounds so amazing I really love the passive sounds out of this! I hear a jazz a p the natural soapbar sound I am so tempted to pick this up even if it means selling my old basses
Hey! Love the demo! One of the reasons why I just picked up one of these bad boys myself lol I have question though what strings do you use for this bass?
I can see this sounding absolutely perfect for a justin chancellor of tool tone
Woah, those lines at about 4 mins were so funky!! I always love listening to you play
09:10: We share a common love for overtones out of bass guitars ^^
It‘s wicked how basses can sound almost like a mix out of a harpsichord and a xylophone :)
Can you do a shootout between this and the Dingwall NG3 5 String?
Sounds amazing. Wish they did a multiscale for the Legend line of bass too.
Your playing is great, and that bass has left me speechless
I got this about 3 weeks ago from AMS and it's awesome bass. Compared to my other Ibanez's and ESPs. Fishman Humbuckers sounds greater then EMG, Nordstrand,T1 and Bartolini. And I like how the body is curved. The Strings are Super long for 37" but 34" works too.
Great video yet again.
Looks and sounds cool, but it seems like a lot of the sounds might not cut through the mix? Especially if you have a loud drummer and or guitarist
Great and useful review as always!! What strings are used for the G std tuning?
Loved the review. Impeccable playing and timing.
Love the aesthetics.
Loved most of the sounds... although, I felt that the active pups were a bit underwhelming. I expected more "oomph"... it's the only way I can articulate it. I preferred the passive modes better in this case.
I currently play the Ibanez SRMS805 and love it...
...yet, despite the fact that I am a little put off by what I had hoped for in the active pups... I think I will start saving for this one.
I do have a reunion coming up and I'm reforming of my old band after 28 years... this will be a beautiful touch and sonic leap
I'm glad to hear that the Fishman electronics still bring that Spector growl to the forefront, something that I find the Aguilar equipped models haven't done as accurately as the EMGs.
Damn, Devin hired a real bass monster. Great skills!
Seems like a great bass. Glad they decided to do the fanned frets.
What the actual F? I'm looking for a new bass to learn a lot of these techniques, and had been looking at the Spectors recently. I'm absolutely blown away, Nate! You've really inspired me to dig in even harder!!! 🤘
Finally, a real alternative to dingwall. Love the throaty, low mids this thing grunts out.
He’s slapping the thing…..you know the THING! Well done
What a killer bass.... I think I am still sold on a Dingwall next but this is a consideration for sure. If you could only have an NG3 or one of these which would it be?
LOVE to hear honest feedback between this and the Combustion.
Not sure if it's just my headphones or Nathan's EQ, but this bass sounds VERY tinny and brittle. The low end is definitely there, but the extreme highs make everything sound really dry and soulless. Hoping that this can still get some mid-range oomph and growl doing on like their previous models.
extremely happy for more bass manufacturers to join the 37” multiscale gang but i’m disappointed there’s no 6.
Tell me about it. If Spector made a multi scale 6 string with the pickup/electronics that this beast has and has 18 mm spacing...I'd be like "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!"
I thought Spector did make a 6 string
@@shuruff904 they do. But for me at least the string spacing is too small. Killer is bass guitars though.
@@shuruff904 Spector makes 6 string basses, but not a multi scale version as of yet.
I spent $3 just for the funk tabs. That is a bad ass lick, and I need to learn it. Great playing bud.
Ohhhhh maaannnn🤤
WoW, what a beautiful bass!
The green 4-string version of this will be my next (and hopefully final) bass. Can't wait
This!
And I did just buy the haunted moss version. No regrets!!!! Don’t look back.
@@vonnie7713 I just wish it had a satin finish, but oh well
hey Nate, what do you think of Ryan Martinie? (i know it seems not related to video, but your bass tone here reminds me of Mudvayne stuff)
thanks
swear down if another manufacturer had but out a 35" multi-scale i'd've committed face-desk, these sound and look beautiful - also your playing is doubly beautiful
Fantastic demo, thank you!
So do you Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide which one of you three get to do the demo?
How do you consistantly have the best bass tone out of every other bass youtuber?
Genzler and great technique :) that Genzler head is something serious man, hope to have some of those array cabs soon
Natural talent 🙏
@@coveryourears3851 exactly I just got the Magellan 800 but I’m playing through a 4-10 mark bass cab. I really want to invest in these two cabs he has but with the bass and all that you’re talking like a 7 thousand dollar set up😂 that’ll take me some time to get together.
I need one. Love the tone.
Dnes objednávám.Nadherny nástroj,jak opticky,tak zvukově.❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
outstanding review videos dude! thank you!
Love this bass and that repeated lick is awesome in its own right.
I just bought one Nate. And I blame you😂
But honestly man that multi scale “fan fret” is hard for me to get used to, and the strings are a lot closer together that my other basses. I’m still getting used to it but the sound is unreal 🙌
I just bought the new Spector Euro 5lx with the Emg tw and tone pump. Just got it and they came out with this.... I should of waited to see what Spector came out with this year. What do you think is the better of the two?
This one is made in Korea. Also, the euro lx has much more character in its sound, do not regret your purchase. IMHO this one is better only if you plan to downtune heavily
@@selftyranny thank you. Haven't tried the demension yet. I had the NG3 Dingwall and my new Spector euro is much better but i did love the B string on the Dingwall. I was hoping the demension might have the best of both basses. Thank you for your reply. Much Appreciated
The fact that he just threw the pick across the room
Whoa the low B string on that extra long scale lengths rings like piano sustain.
Thank you for explaining "Multi Scale"!
Sick demo always!
What gauge strings are you using for this demo? Sounds excellent! Just recently purchased my own Dimension and am loving the hell out of it.
I think for the demo of the instrument Spector would want him to have the strings that came in with it originally, so I'm gonna say 45 to 130
That bridge pickup though
Wow, that is Beautiful!
Is there any pitch issues while bending on a multi scale?
I know bending on bass isn't common just curious if the multi scale design effected it
Don’t see why it would
You need to make an audio book lol, what a voice
That intro-song in combination with a spector just gives me super hard Ilja John-Lappin/The Hirsch Effekt vibes
Great Video!
I never thought i would find a comment mentioning The Hirsch Effekt under a non-hirsch-effekt-related video
@@hannes1734 you gotta spread the Hirsch!
@@haxenheimer9707 I first knew them when i saw them opening for Coheed and Cabria in August 2019. Funny thing is, they played in a place called "Der Hirsch" lol. I don't like most of their stuff tho because it's too hectic. But songs like Cotard and Ligaphob certainly grew on me.
And, i kid you not, i started crying when they played the intense melodic part from IRA
@@hannes1734 that's nürnberg, right?
I'd say their last record Kollaps is more easy listening(in comparison to the other ones of course), but I get what you mean, was listening to Agnosie pretty much exclusively at the beginning
@@haxenheimer9707 Yes, that's Nürnberg. I'll give Kollaps a listen.
Hi Nathan I hope you don't mind me plagarising the bejesus out of your chops so I can sound badass when I go to the guitar store. (just joking I try to play them as a training tool). Nice playing as usual, I think this is my fav Spector, but I need to play a few as I've never played any Spectors.
back at it again eh Nate? phenomenal playing as usual.
Hey Nate, would you recommend this specific bass or a Spector Euro series?
Sounds like a hi-fi piano
that 37 inch scale for the low string is what makes Dingwall so desirable, looks like they have serious competition now
LTD also makes a 5 string with 37" and Nordstrand Big Splits. 37 is the new hotness.
