Though it doesn't address Prescott's water specifically, the following article, published 12/21/23, offers some hope for the lower basin. www.azwater.gov/news/articles/2023-12-21-0 . Locally, there is still confidence in the Big Chino Aquifer, but no doubt there will be long-term challenges, especially if development continues at the current rate. Good news is water conservation has actually improved in the area. I realize this isn't a direct answer to your query, but the complexities of the issue are well beyond my ken... Cheers! Cancel Reply
Personally, in 20 years, I have never seen a scorpion in Prescott. I have seen garter snakes, gopher snakes/bull snakes and Arizona king snakes - maybe 5 or 6 times a year, total (all good and harmless). I have seen only 1 Arizona black rattlesnake in 20 years, but I know rattlers are occasionally spotted along hiking trails generally away from populated areas.
As with everywhere else, nowadays, Some people are quite passionate about their politics. Most of us agree to disagree, but there are some who, shall we say, are beyond capable of changing their opinion and tolerating those of others.
One of my neighbors and close friends happens to be on the opposite end of the political spectrum. We hike, bowl, dine together (and share a few cocktails on occasion), and choose to focus our energy and conversations on the positive. In Prescott, you'll see peaceful protests on the square, pickups flying flags, and the odd distasteful bumper sticker...all-in-all it lives up to its reputation as "Everybody's Hometown."
@@joevarga5982 Don't get me started Joe, you are showing your ignorance, truly. Trump has no policies, he just is full of hate and anger. Biden has done more for this country than most Presidents.
I noticed that you never hit on Medical Care here. That's because there is NONE. IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITION, DON'T plan on getting any doctor twice in a row. They are all traveling doctors. Don't plan on getting an appointment any time soon and don't plan on a callback or follow up. VERY SCAREY. HORRIBLE MEDICAL CARE!!! I HAVE lived here since 1992 and it has gotten incredibly out of hand for good medical care. Plan on driving to Phoenix for care.
Indeed I do cover the topic of healthcare in my "Retiring to Arizona" video. Healthcare access is something Prescott/PV definitely struggle with. However, quality of care actually receives good ratings. That is not to say people do not have bad experiences, but you cannot paint Prescott area healthcare with a single, broad brush.
So…I’m just a little confused. Why do people that live or who are associated w Prescott…keep pronouncing this desirable place to live in as “Press-ckitt”?!! Many say it this way. It’s spelled Prescott. I have friends named Scott. I surely don’t call them S-ckitt. Just wondering’…
The unique pronunciation seems to have evolved over time, is part of the city's cultural heritage, and has been embraced by the locals. The oft-repeated tale that the Prescott family deliberately changed the pronunciation of the name to distinguish themselves from their overseas relations I find to be a bit far-fetched. Another online commentary points out that Prescott is not the only town/city with an accepted pronunciation that does not adhere to the basic rules - think "Louisville" and "Norfolk." In local speech, the sound is closer to "kuht" than "kitt" - similar to what you might hear in "carrot" or "parrot."

If we could have your blessing and OK on this i would like to go forward on the moving process. I'm hoping 2 more folks from Tennessee wouldn't make a big difference. Thanks.
We will make room for you, your wife...and the labs! Prescott is definitely a dog-friendly town, so you'll fit right in. Dog-walking on Courthouse Plaza is a local pastime. There is plenty to do if you want to (hiking, kayaking, etc.) or you can just stay at home and enjoy the peace and quiet!
"Preskitt" is a pretty place.
