That was so very cool to see. My Grandfather, Ralph Showalter used to own NWFS and flew that plane all the time. He's gone now but I can still remember sitting at the dock watching the FNKL taking off to go to the northern fishing camps. It was nice to see her again.
incidentally that is the very first twin beech to be put on floats. interesting bit of trivia, C-FNKL was the prototype EDO used to fit the Beech 18 (or in this case the Beech C45H) with floats.
A beautiful aircraft from the classic aviation era - not many of them on floats.
Gotta love a twin beech. Big floats. Ive seen photo of Douglas c47 on floats. Romantic era of flight.
Nice! Love the harmony of those Wasp JR's. Thanks for not adding music or chatter over top!!
Shane is a great pilot and a good guy. He'll even let you take over the controls for a very short time while you are in the air.
Now thats one quick startup! Beautiful plane!
ive seen this take off in person. so beautiful
Wonderful plane! Thanks for posting ! Those that did not like the video must be perverts!
Hi XBoeingCapt
Yes this a/c got off the water OK..but is dissapeared behind a little island in the lake...:-)
I flew lots of 18’s on wheels and lots of seaplanes but never an 18on floats.
Always wondered how a Beech 18 on floats would do on one engine.
Cool !!!
I'm guessin the engines were already warmed up??
do you have anymore videos of this airplane??
Am I drooling or what?
What a beauty. I've never seen an 18 on floats. Very cool
I got to ride in this aircraft in May 1978 from nester falls to Cameron lake 10 of us and all our stuff no problem coolest floatplanes I've ever been in
Hi, what is that square piece on the canopy ?
Chieio do you mean the small rectangular eyebrow windows above the pilot and copilot side windows?
