For anyone wondering, here is the backstory and meaning of this show. This show is the conclusion to a trilogy, which began in 2005 with Ascension. Ascension is about dying and moving into the afterlife with emphasis on the spiritual and mystical aspects of death. 2006 is The Remaining, a show about souls who are stuck on earth after death, leaning into horror, the fear of dying too soon, and being stuck between life and death. 2007 is Transcendents. This show concludes the ART Trilogy (Ascension, Remaining, Transcendents) and follows a young girl from being stuck on earth, but finally finding peace when she is able to move into the afterlife. The yellow figures are loosely based on the monster from Pan’s Labyrinth, who finally consumes her. She dies and meets her spiritual guide, the tall figure in white, and skips through the clouds, finally having transcended to heaven.
Despite the age this show still holds up strong to todays great shows. They truly were ahead of their time with this show. One of my all time favorites in BOA history.
16 years later and this performance is the best I've ever watched. So glad to find this to show my daughter as she starts her first year in HS marching. She was also blown away. ❤
Entirely different band directors. The work that goes into the planning, music arrangements, legalities for music used, then getting the kids taught and practiced is extraordinary. I know I couldn't do it. I graduated in 1980, close to the end of Mr. Winslow's time as band director. It was nice to have such a good example to build such strong, good traditions. Lots of good memories.
it'll take quite a while for bell to return to its high glory. 2020 was supposed to be the year where bell returns to what it was before, but you can tell what happened there. i'm hoping the current directors will make the future of the program great once again. this year was just to test the waters and stability of the program post-covid, and clearly being a 3-year high school with 2 classes of kids who have never marched before, it has shown to be picking up some speed again.
@@LangBuildsMc I’m really hoping the newfound dedication in a lot of the marchers will help us return to glory. It won’t happen fully for a while, but right now, it’s the formation of the building blocks.
My parents graduated from LD bell in the 80s. I grew up in the same area and remember seeing this show/marching against them my senior year 🖤 good times.
That ballad made the show though. I remember sitting in the stands watching this with our highschool that was just lucky enough to have a trip to Indianapolis. Reminds me of a time back when things were so much easier
This is quite possibly the best show in BOA history. These type shows are skeletal to their philosophy. Personally, I prefer the more visual heavy and robust sounds of Spring 1993 & Lassiter 2002! All 3 of these shows are G.O.A.T.S. in their own right.
broken arrow 2021 has definitely taken the spot of greatest show in boa history now: with a score of an 98.25, shattering hebron 15's semifinals score.
@@LangBuildsMc BA 2021 definitely can make an argument for that claim. I personally felt Carmel was stronger and has a lot more difficult show visually but Hebron 2021 would have taken BA at GN’s should they have gone imo!
@@johnnychikko3800 I always thought Ronald Reagan's 2019 show and Flower Mound 2016 were the greatest shows with Hebron 2021. Flower Mound was so creative and they would have changed marching band forever had they went. And Reagan..I don't even think I need to explain. Highest super Regionals score and the in my opinion, has the greatest moment in marching history with the big hit at the end of the ballad with the color guard running on the outside of the football field. Definitely would have won GN for sure and probably would have beaten Hebron's 2015 score.
Just to correct the description, the captions earned were Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding General Effect; they did not take the visual caption.
If you watch "Pan's Labyrinth", it's basically their take on that movie, they even used the main theme throughout the whole show, the humming part. Makes sense once you watch it!
@@JrJesus805 yeah I have since learned this show was a three part series, and this was the third one. I don't think it was specifically about Pan's Labyrinth (I've seen parts of it so I know what it's about) but since the story was similar they decided to play homage. LD Bell's band is fantastic but sometimes I think they go a little overboard with their overly deep show themes. They always get so philosophical with their shows lol
heard about it like a few weeks ago. it's really funny. i plan on bringing it up to one of our "directors" who has been with the program for decades and see what he thinks. the music is practically 1:1 and it's really hilarious to listen to.
@@LangBuildsMc wait are you from LD Belle? If so hello, I competed against you one time this year and you absolutely decimated us. A pleasurable decimation, though

This is quite possibly the most perfectly timed pre-show ever

Still the greatest announcer to opening hit timing in all of band history
I remember watching this on stream 10 years ago, and when the introduction lined up perfectly with the hit, I knew Bell was going to win.
I had the honor of seeing this in person at Grand Nats my senior year. The duet around the 4:15 mark about brought me to tears.
Seems like just yesterday. Time flies.

This gets better each time I listen to it. Well deserved victory for Bell, wish they’d return to this type of glory.
trust me, we are steady trying :)

By far the best marching show ever in my opinion
Can we just take a second to talk about how CLEAN the flags are???!!! My God! This was excellent 😘😍
IKR. They are absolutely on it this particular year. Alot of the 2000's shows, their guard was top notch.
my first year performing at Grand nats. Awesome to experience this masterpiece. Not many BOA shows with 4000 members are that great. This one. amazing

You know, 16 years later, this show is more beautiful but just as creepy as I remember. Watching this with fresh eyes and ears is a real treat.
OK, woodwinds...Come through!
Love from TSU...Texas Southern University.
ART!!!!!! they made Art

The drill for this show is just perfect
My percussion tech Marched this show!
I am beyond excited that this is finally on UA-cam
Life Of Roy Nave Any records of Marian Catholic 1994?
Life Of Roy Nave Aw, that sucks, thank you though!
AMAZING!
The backfield brass in lux aurumque sounds amazing
Agreed. The talent met the effect for sure
my band played that music in 2012
These kids are in their 30s now and I wonder if they realize that they're IMMORTAL as the show name indicates.
They knew it then, as did many competing bands watching
First number was amazing
Astonishing
Reincarnation soul trap.
Wow!
That ballad tho
👏👏👏
What music is that at the 1:00 mark?
Steve Reich: Variations for Strings, strings, keyboards
I don't get it
Sometimes you just have to let art be art
@@dougiejones5719 yeah but I never understood this show. I actually saw it live during BOA semis back in 2007 and I was like wtf haha

Almost no battery features. Great pit though
