He basically goes on a rant on how cody is turning his back on everything he stood for and could say something like the fact that dwayne is in the main event and you are not makes me sick. basically in short punk convinces cody to change his decision and we see it unfold on this weeks smackdown. This would further fuel up the punk and seth rivarly which they can continue once he returns as punk took away cody from facing seth and also would set up cody back into roman reigns picture yes he would look dumb but genuinenly that cant be fixed now
Would be a great story to be honest. If they do it right. Go all in. Nah, Cody didn't deserve it last year. They made the right decision then. They fucked it now because they couldn't make up their mind, if they knew they might decide on Rock one way or another then they never should have let Cody win the rumble again just in case, people would have been fine with Gunther, Drew, or Punk winning and if they decided they didn't want Rock after all could've then had Cody win elimination chamber to challenge Roman.
There's a few ways they could have gone about it but I believe ultimately that CM Punks injury meant a LOT had to be moved around. Seth needs a dance partner for Mania and without Punk there's not really anyone else that would be exciting other than Cody. If you do Cody vs. Roman, who wrestles Seth in your opinion at Mania? I'm reminded of the WM30 build up where they were clearly going to let Daniel Bryan take the title but played it so well by not having in the Rumble, then made him work for it by facing HHH first before getting into a triple threat. They wanted to look like DB was such an underdog and keep beating him down constantly, so his win would be even greater. So maybe this could the same, all just a game to get the fans going when in reality they know full well they're still going to have Cody win the title at the main event of the WM40. Maybe in a triple threat again. Maybe he'll have to face the Rock first (could do that as the main event for the Saturday part of WM40) and then he'll "win" his match with Roman. If they have just flushed Cody down the toilet then it's utterly stupid, but I think there's more to it than just Rock stepping in last minute with no build up at all. I smell a storyline and the fans are really help build it up.

The fact is, this was not a creative decision. Basically, TKO is unhappy with Triple H and his way of running things, they want him to understand that he is not in control, TKO is, and so, the choice to have the Rock back was imposed on the company for this specific reason, and also to establish to The Rock that they value and have great consideration of his role, and that he will always have the last word on WWE matters

TKO was like "Put Rock Vs Roman for Mania", like, 3 or 4 hours before Smackdown aired, so, plans had to be changed on the moment, and Rock had to be called at the last second to be present (hence why he was given no promo material, no backstage promotion, no hype, nothing, they simply told WWE "make it happen, make him the mania opponent", and they had to improvise on the flight, with Dwayne himself not happy with how things turned out. So, yeah, he also voiced and asked to be in that spot, but it was mostly a TKO decision
There are ways to satisfy both audiences. Cody might have challenged Roman in wrestlemania for the title, then Solo/ Jimmy comes to interfere, then Rock comes to interfere and help Cody. Cody wins the title, everyone goes off-screen. 1 week later, Roman comes out furious, demands the head of the rock, and rock comes and demands to be the head of the table. Rock does not need a title shot. He can just fight Roman without titles. Then Rock fights roman, solo and jimmy interferes, and it's cody's turn now to return the favour. There , it's as simple as that. We can then work in more angles. Rock becomes head of table, and is now a significant part of TKO. He starts interfering with HHH's decisions to run the company. HHH becomes upset. HHH vs Rock. HHH loses. HHH teams up with Roman to take down Rock. And we can then have HHH, Roman, Solo, Jimmy vs Rock, Cody. meanwhile the trio of LAKnight, Orton, Styles gets angry why they cant have a shot. And we have a third faction now. Add into this sneak attacks from a second heel called Drew McIntyre and a third heel called Punk. And somehow drag Seth into the mix as WWE champion. You'll probably have materials for 5 years, if WWE can execute this correctly. This can be something greater than the bloodlines. Rock has to face his past and answer to the fans why he abandoned them for the last 15 years. HHH can have emotional maturity of handling the company with sensitivity, Roman gets a redemption, Orton gets over his fear of injuries, LA Knight becomes more respectful of everyone. McIntyre cools down. Punk becomes more sober.
WWE could’ve waited to do Rock vs Roman at a different time. Cody is the biggest face in the company right now, this is his moment to win the championship.

I think the only way this could be fixed is if Cody fought Dwayne at Elimination Chamber for a number one contender shit or something. Sort of like an "I changed my mind, screw that bald guy, I want Roman." It's a bit of a weird situation because as the Royal Rumble winner he should be able to choose regardless, but I feel like this is some sort of way to get everyone what they want, at least for the time being. Cody fights Roman, we see the Rock, and even if the Rock doesn't fight Roman, we just get that next year, doesn't even make much of a difference if there's a title on the line.

I saw two house shows last fall, ringside thankfully 🙏. Cody spent the entire intermission both times greeting people, taking photos and signing autographs. He was basically drug to the back because he didn't want to miss anyone and he genuinely cares. Ontop of him wrestling with the pec tear, he's more than earned it. I think it's a combination of Roman Regins fatigue, the booking of Cody's story, frustration towards empty promises and generally, fans seem to have gotten tired of old timers hogging the spot too much, especially if they don't put over new talent. Plus, I don't think people have forgotten that stuff with Cm Punk long ago and unlike other legends like Cena, everytime Rock makes an appearance, it's less to do with helping new talent but just squashing them and making them look like goobers. So he doesn't have as much goodwill as Cena would.

I get the "Star Power" element for Rock vs Roman but I value the long-term storytelling WWE is doing with Cody and Roman and I think everyone values the story as well. The dislikes show it, the comments show it, and the numerous videos show it. It feels like WWE or just Dwyane punishes the audience paying attention to what's going on. All this time, several hints, several teases, and a Royal Rumble win for Cody to get the match. Then, one exhausted promo from Rock eclipses all that work for a predictable ending and if they let Rock win at Mania, it diminishes the story and even Roman's title reign.

I still want to hear what Seth and Cody say tomorrow night and what The Rock and Roman have to say on Friday and how the live audiences react on each show. Next week is gonna determine if the angle has any chance of success or they need to change course. To clarify more I thought at the beginning of the show ( RR 2023) that Roman Reigns would tell Solo to win the Royal Rumble and tell Sami to protect Solo until the end, then when only Solo and Sami remained, Roman would tell Sami to eliminat himself, then Sami would refuse and turn on Solo and win the Royal Rumble.

Something tells me that WM40 is gonna be a disaster. The way you fix is this is having the rock saying he is gonna give the match back to cody because he didnt earn it and have the rock be a special referee in the match stopping bloodline shenanigans
I’d be fine with him being the referee. I don’t want a triple threat match, though. If rock is the ref he can use his influence at the end to help put Cody over more. This is actually the most logical way to do it at this point. Unless all these guys are laughing at us because this was just a red herring, and the real plan is different and will still be Cody and Roman. It could be a work.

I have a feeling we're getting pranked by WWE, and that they want to announce The Rock at WM, but somewhere down the line they'll do Daniel Bryan "Yes movement" script where fans hijack the show and force Cody vs Roman vs Rock. That way Cody can officially challenge Seth and still face Roman. If by any means Cody wins both titles, we can always have DP cash in his MitB contract after we got that picture of Cody holding both belts. That way we could split the belt holders to avoid another unified title.
Only way this could have worked was by having Rollins cut promos on Cody desperately trying to convince him to challenge him instead of reigns. Then at mania have priest cash in mid match and pin Rollins that way Cody still doesn't finish the story for the wrong championship while still protecting him so he can win it later off Roman. Wwe having him step aside for the rock was so dumb.

The end would be one of the most satisfying moments. They fucked it now because they couldn't make up their mind, if they knew they might decide on Rock one way or another then they never should have let Cody win the rumble again just in case, people would have been fine with Gunther, Drew, or Punk winning and if they decided they didn't want Rock after all could've then had Cody win elimination chamber to challenge Roman.
There's a few ways they could have gone about it but I believe ultimately that CM Punks injury meant a LOT had to be moved around. Seth needs a dance partner for Mania and without Punk there's not really anyone else that would be exciting other than Cody. If you do Cody vs. Roman, who wrestles Seth in your opinion at Mania? It's a shit situation and they've handled it awfully but I can see why they've gone down this route. I'm reminded of the WM30 build up where they were clearly going to let Daniel Bryan take the title but played it so well by not having in the Rumble, then made him work for it by facing HHH first before getting into a triple threat. They wanted to look like DB was such an underdog and keep beating him down constantly, so his win would be even greater. So maybe this could the same, all just a game to get the fans going when in reality they know full well they're still going to have Cody win the title at the main event of the WM40. Maybe in a triple threat again. Maybe he'll have to face the Rock first (could do that as the main event for the Saturday part of WM40) and then he'll "win" his match with Roman. If they have just flushed Cody down the toilet then it's utterly stupid, but I think there's more to it than just Rock stepping in last minute with no build up at all. I smell a storyline and the fans are really help build it up.

The fact is, this was not a creative decision. Basically, TKO is unhappy with Triple H and his way of running things, they want him to understand that he is not in control, TKO is, and so, the choice to have the Rock back was imposed on the company for this specific reason, and also to establish to The Rock that they value and have great consideration of his role, and that he will always have the last word on WWE matters

TKO was like "Put Rock Vs Roman for Mania", like, 3 or 4 hours before Smackdown aired, so, plans had to be changed on the moment, and Rock had to be called at the last second to be present (hence why he was given no promo material, no backstage promotion, no hype, nothing, they simply told WWE "make it happen, make him the mania opponent", and they had to improvise on the flight, with Dwayne himself not happy with how things turned out. So, yeah, he also voiced and asked to be in that spot, but it was mostly a TKO decision
There are ways to satisfy both audiences. Cody might have challenged Roman in wrestlemania for the title, then Solo/ Jimmy comes to interfere, then Rock comes to interfere and help Cody. Cody wins the title, everyone goes off-screen. 1 week later, Roman comes out furious, demands the head of the rock, and rock comes and demands to be the head of the table. Rock does not need a title shot. He can just fight Roman without titles. Then Rock fights roman, solo and jimmy interferes, and it's cody's turn now to return the favour. There , it's as simple as that.
We can then work in more angles. Rock becomes head of table, and is now a significant part of TKO. He starts interfering with HHH's decisions to run the company. HHH becomes upset. HHH vs Rock. HHH loses. HHH teams up with Roman to take down Rock. And we can then have HHH, Roman, Solo, Jimmy vs Rock, Cody. meanwhile the trio of LAKnight, Orton, Styles gets angry why they cant have a shot. And we have a third faction now. Add into this sneak attacks from a second heel called Drew McIntyre and a third heel called Punk. And somehow drag Seth into the mix as WWE champion. You'll probably have materials for 5 years, if WWE can execute this correctly. This can be something greater than the bloodlines. Rock has to face his past and answer to the fans why he abandoned them for the last 15 years. HHH can have emotional maturity of handling the company with sensitivity, Roman gets a redemption, Orton gets over his fear of injuries, LA Knight becomes more respectful of everyone. McIntyre cools down. Punk becomes more sober.

I think the only way this could be fixed is if Cody fought Dwayne at Elimination Chamber for a number one contender shit or something. It's a bit of a weird situation because as the Royal Rumble winner he should be able to choose regardless, but I feel like this is some sort of way to get everyone what they want, at least for the time being. Cody fights Roman, we see the Rock, and even if the Rock doesn't fight Roman, we just get that next year, doesn't even make much of a difference if there's a title on the line.

I saw two house shows last fall, ringside thankfully 🙏. Cody spent the entire intermission both times greeting people, taking photos and signing autographs. He was basically drug to the back because he didn't want to miss anyone and he genuinely cares. Ontop of him wrestling with the pec tear, he's more than earned it. Im a pretty busy guy with school and work etc. and I watch WWE through highlights. Mostly Cody, Gunther, and R-truth. So I’m a casual as you can say. When I saw the rock I’m not even looking forward anything wwe related anymore :/
I think it's a combination of Roman Regins fatigue, the booking of Cody's story, frustration towards empty promises and generally, fans seem to have gotten tired of old timers hogging the spot too much, especially if they don't put over new talent.
Plus, I don't think people have forgotten that stuff with Cm Punk long ago and unlike other legends like Cena, everytime Rock makes an appearance, it's less to do with helping new talent but just squashing them and making them look like goobers. So he doesn't have as much goodwill as Cena would.
This is literally the Daniel Bryan-Batista situation all over again. And we thought that WWE was starting to learn from their mistakes...

I get the "Star Power" element for Rock vs Roman but I value the long-term storytelling WWE is doing with Cody and Roman and I think everyone values the story as well. The dislikes show it, the comments show it, and the numerous videos show it. It feels like WWE or just Dwyane punishes the audience paying attention to what's going on.
All this time, several hints, several teases, and a Royal Rumble win for Cody to get the match. Then, one exhausted promo from Rock eclipses all that work for a predictable ending and if they let Rock win at Mania, it diminishes the story and even Roman's title reign.
It should be next year and "Head of the table" should be the stakes. Not the belt.

I still want to hear what Seth and Cody say tomorrow night and what The Rock and Roman have to say on Friday and how the live audiences react on each show. Next week is gonna determine if the angle has any chance of success or they need to change course. The way you fix is this is having the rock saying he is gonna give the match back to cody because he didnt earn it and have the rock be a special referee in the match stopping bloodline shenanigans
I’d be fine with him being the referee. I don’t want a triple threat match, though. If rock is the ref he can use his influence at the end to help put Cody over more. This is actually the most logical way to do it at this point. Unless all these guys are laughing at us because this was just a red herring, and the real plan is different and will still be Cody and Roman. It could be a work.

I have a feeling we're getting pranked by WWE, and that they want to announce The Rock at WM, but somewhere down the line they'll do Daniel Bryan "Yes movement" script where fans hijack the show and force Cody vs Roman vs Rock.
