The death of her parents, to a home where she was abused, to living on her own, to a system that failed her and would fail her again. Clearly that is what went through the mind of the social worker who allowed her to leave quietly.....unnoticed. A brilliant and beautifully done film. In my "happy ending mind" the social worker takes her under his wing and adopts her.
Would have been a lovely happy ending for this story indeed. But the woman did say that he still had a stack of other cases to tend to. He couldn't have taken every one under his wings...
@@treasuretvjackson8018 ok. But its an older woman who sees a kid sitting alone selling stuff. Also its not okay to take pictures of kids you just find alone out on the street.

Rbokz K9 whilst kids with no parents can’t be homeless cause they usually get sent to foster care kids with their family can be homeless. The homeless shelter in my city has quite a few moms and their kids there
Why would you 'doubt she had much more than a TV'? First of all, this is just a short film, so it isn't real. Secondly, this film is trying to show that her life was normal like any other child until her parents died so she ran away because she didn't want to end up in foster care. Even if she only "just had a TV" (which I'm not sure why you'd come to that conclusion), she still had a family, electricity, and a home, and she had to give that all up and live on the streets without any parents. Yeah, she may have someone to give her food now and then, but she still has to find places to sleep, protect herself from anything bad (storms, bad weather, etc.), and take care of herself. Those are survival skills.
To all the people saying "this is so sad I wish I could adopt her right now" you could always you know go to your local adoption center and door many kids just like her. Stop saying I wish and start saying I can take action and make a change. Have a great day everyone
Luis Lizardo i would adopt her because even in my family of 5 middle class income we would make a better way for her better than the streets. I dont adopt because I havr no desire to but if I saw a child on the street they're coming home with me PERIOD my sister get them cleaned up I'll cook a fine meal and make a warm bed to rest in. No child deserves to live on the street
Another option is to become a foster parent. You don't need to be married, or have a lot of money, just caring & willing to give a child a safe place, filled with patience, love, & emotional support. Sometimes children end up in childrens services because their parents pass away, like this precious girl. She could initially be fostered, then later the foster parent(s) can either become the guardian or adoptive parent(s). Personally, I became a foster parent of four siblings. After three & a half years, I was awarded guardianship of them. So, you CAN be the change you want to see in the world. They are all our children, & children are our future.
No child should be alone like this. She cannot protect herself from predators let alone the elements. We have to do better by our children. And when they get 18 we still cannot just let them go. They need support.
Please reassure me that this is just a short movie with a very talented young actress and not a documentary posing as a movie...! I just wanna pick her up, give her a hug and take her home to adopt and let her know everything will be OK from now on. Such a precious young lady!
You would make it. It brings out a certain side of people some people don't know they have. It is sad but I wish people would use that sadness to help people in that situation. To answer everyone questions or statements. She’s a actress, this is a short film based on a true story. It wouldn’t be okay if a guy or girl was filming a homeless person.
I’m a really strong person but to see a seven-year-old go through something like that just made me 😭 cry because I’m nine years old and sometimes I am ungrateful for the stuff that I have but now that I see what she went through I am so grateful
You are allowed to be strong and cry, don't ever let the world tell you otherwise. Feeling your emotions is a HUMAN thing, and expressing them in any way is your right as a human, no matter your gender. Tears are not weakness.
Don't care about the damn system. Would risk it all and take her into my home, homeschool her and send her off to college when she is 18. Looking the other way and letting a 7 year old into the street is not kindness, its another sort of evil. She seems so mature, but she shouldn't have to - she is a baby. Her only concern should be what doll she wants next.
I think the starfish is a representation of her experience. Stranded in a place alone, a place she shouldn't even be to begin with. And when the starfish died, it was a small glimpse of what life would be if she continues to live that way. Good job. This is beautiful
The number of children facing homelessness in America is staggering and heartbreaking.😞 Thank you to the creators of this film for helping raise awareness.
I always come back to watch this film every year… it makes me feel calm and grateful to have the things I have in this life. I hope all those children who actually go through what Jada did find happiness.
Awww man no child should live alone like this but she is so clever and has a lot of courage I would let her stay by me anytime! Good luck jada love you! This made me a cry too!
I adopted a child who was on the streets like this, homeless at a young age just like her. It was a very tough path for us both. Now she is an adult and doing well because I refused to let her go and give up. It was not for lack of trying on her part either! LOL I saw something in her she did not see in herself, 'not' giving up was the hardest thing I have ever done. She wanted me to give up back then and proudly taunted that she would make my like a living hell until I did, which she did. She doesn't know me very well. I don’t have it in my to give up so I held on. She was a tough little street girl taking care of a brother and sister in diapers at the time. She did it and came out of it in the end. She is in her 20's now.
I'm disgusted by that lady who took a picture and walked away I'm tried to spread MY opinion about this, and look at the repliers, not bothering to read my dang edits People who saying they are actors, even so it is so frustrating, that barely any acts of kindness were shown, at the very least a smoker did the most acts of kindness. Though glad that's she's alive Edit number 2: People who are saying they are paid for God's sake I know that, I'm saying relentlessly the message shows that kids in the world suffer from poverty. For those who don't know what deceased means, it means dead, or perished. So her parents are dead
Made me cry so much. No child deserves to be left to their own devices like that. I know it's a fiction but she is so precious, if I could I'd adopt her!
seeing her melts my soul NO CHILD NO CHILD SHOULD BE LIVING ON THE STREET WITH NO PARENTS LOVE. THIS IS A VERY STRANGE WORLD WHEN THIS IS ALLOWED AND PEOPLE LOOK THE OTHER WAY
Even though she doesn't want to go with him, you can tell she knows he is trying to help her, because she made a stick person of him and let it in his desk.
The woman at the desk was angry when the male social worker was upset by the whip marks on the child's back. Telling him, " You know how this system works !" That's just it, it doesn't work at all. Neither does this country.
Man i would do nothing but hold that baby and read to her, make sure she has everything she needs and make sure she knows she's loved and a beautiful young lady
Omg that guy who gave her food is an angel I already love him and his accent and kindness

That should be M4!😊
M5 :)
There is no happily ever after
I feel like I just watched a whole movie in only 16 minutes.
Random Ryan no its 15mims and 59 secs
I know! I was 2 minutes through and I was like- I’ve been watching this for 20 mins! How long is it?! *checks and sees its been 2 mins* wtf
@@lilsbriselz6912 it's almost a min
Lils Briselz you must be a math teacher
More like the middle of one. All of their films always have a lack of a beginning and a lack of an end
I love how that man gives her food and acts as her friend
Chilly Pepper lps how do you know the man Is acting and not her real friend?
What I meant but that is he acts like a friend figure to her 😑
smantha ponce that's what the person means...
Tanks
Yeah. I teared up when he didn't want her to pay him back because he knew she was struggling.😭
The way we see the world through her eyes, especially in the fair at night, was beautiful and so heartbreaking as well.
This is how much we love Jada and her little cute stick people 👇👇👇
Poodah Childs yeah..... so... like..uh what are you pointing at???? XDXD bc your a little far off from the like button. XDD
Poodah Childs ya

imagine using a homeless girl for likes
I'm going with
Honestly I’d give this girl some money even is she didn’t have the stick people
I'd adopt her
Yeah I guess I would too
Jhavyen Thomas oh i like that idea too
WingTurtle I would buy all of her little stick people than take her home and adopt her.
Same this girl is a true girl pwr girl
That girl’s handwritting is better than mine when i was 7!

todoroki :3 TODOROKI okay sorry I just had to say that

She still better than me to this day
The amount of people who never asked why is this child alone
I wish there was something like '10 years later'
Hobo agreed yes
She'd be a billionaire.
Yes
When she said I'm sorry to her toys melted my heart!😊
she made those sticks to look like her parents bc her parents died and that is why she'd homeless

Awww man no child should live alone like this but she is so clever and has a lot of courage I would let her stay by me anytime! Good luck jada love you! This made me a cry too!
A'ishah Mehmood at least it's just a skit... if that helps
I hope she's safe

Thien Quang Tran I think in a crying way she meant
It’s so sad that most kids live like her it’s heartbreaking
Don't mean to be rude but probably not most like 1 in 5
Leah Wood yeah
Blair’s Gacha can you get your facts right instead of assuming things?
it isnt true that MOST kids live this life.
Well it would be sad if it was true. Only like 1 in 5 kids are actually like her
One in five kids is still a depressing amount. That's around 500 million kids like her.
When he sees her and then looks away, I just broke into tears. Such a good man, a caring person, belongs there fighting for the kids. 😪
I'd buy one of those stick peoples they adorable and hand created
Yesenia Chacon one of emm? Dont be silly.
We all gonna pay her 1000 forone of em
Actually I would give her the money and she could keep the sticks for herself
Ursula Mackenzie how sweet!
I’d give her about my 2 years allowance:1,423 dollars :)
Yesenia Chacon yh
This makes me cry. When the man confronted Jada, she held her jacket closed, possibly indicating he or someone else sexually abused her.
Well, it was probably her aunt. That guy who confronted her was a social worker.
I cried too 😢
No he is trying to save her
@@em0_jbesties-780 ?
@@rudy8075 no the man is nice
She is so cute how could anyone just walk past her
you do the same thing everyday. if not directly then indirectly.
RustySolo Is Right but she so Cute
I know right
I adopted a child who was on the streets like this, homeless at a young age just like her.
Is she waiting for adoption or what? Past TildaKMartin
Everybody should start caring more about homeless people
True
I no this planet half the time is pretty messed up
Sammie Elestial what does that have to do with homeless?
suga-wara xxx don't be rude. they mean this world is crazy and they don't care to help someone in need.
When i get older im not just gonna help the homeless kids i might adopt them.

A little late to the party, but this is just so good. Heartbreaking, poignant, beautiful. Wonderful job all around.
I'm disgusted by that lady who took a picture and walked away
I'm tried to spread MY opinion about this, and look at the repliers, not bothering to read my dang edits
People who saying they are actors, even so it is so frustrating, that barely any acts of kindness were shown, at the very least a smoker did the most acts of kindness. Though glad that's she's alive
Edit number 2: People who are saying they are paid for God's sake I know that, I'm saying relentlessly the message shows that kids in the world suffer from poverty. For those who don't know what deceased means, it means dead, or perished. So her parents are dead
They’re actors

Made me cry so much. No child deserves to be left to their own devices like that. I know it's a fiction but she is so precious, if I could I'd adopt her!
Sava we can all adopt unity😊😁

I also too thought it was staged.

seeing her melts my soul NO CHILD NO CHILD SHOULD BE LIVING ON THE STREET WITH NO PARENTS LOVE. THIS IS A VERY STRANGE WORLD WHEN THIS IS ALLOWED AND PEOPLE LOOK THE OTHER WAY
It is called evil by omission and it thrives anywhere you turn, Nick. The more time passes, the worst is my perspective on the average human.
Find the truth and find some way to get it ' right.
@@pedrocorreia6206 Yup, you said it exactly. I am stunned at the amount of evil there is and how its allowed.

@Narhiya Carithers I think you missed the point
Even though she doesn't want to go with him, you can tell she knows he is trying to help her, because she made a stick person of him and let it in his desk.
The woman at the desk was angry when the male social worker was upset by the whip marks on the child's back. Telling him, " You know how this system works !" That's just it, it doesn't work at all. Neither does this country.
Man i would do nothing but hold that baby and read to her, make sure she has everything she needs and make sure she knows she's loved and a beautiful young lady
