I love hearing that! Kudos on learning how to groom your pup, especially considering that a Scottie cut is not the easiest styling to learn. But I bet your pup loves the experience bonding with you. Thank you so much for sharing! 😍
Hi Corinne, thank you so much! I love the name McDuff! 😍 And do not lose hope - Bentley was (and still is) a work in progress - but yes, overall, a very sweet boy. Thanks so much for watching and good luck with McDuff!
@Daisy Digital, lol, I agree, as awesome as Scotties are, they really are a bit of a challenge to groom! But as you know, they are worth all the extra work. Thanks so much for watching and for your kind comment! 🙏😊
Bentley is EXTREMELY well-behaved for a Scottie! I've had Scoots my whole life and while I'm extremely attached to the breed, I am aware that they are not without their unique challenges!
Hi Jen, well, you are clearly knowledgeable on the subject! My and Bentley's path has not been an easy one at first, to be honest! His parents and I had to get together and strategize how to train Bentley to accept grooming when he was a puppy (he used to thrash into my clippers, try to bite my scissors, and much more)! I'm glad we have both matured and get through the grooming without too much drama, lol! But I agree, I love the breed - they are very special indeed! I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for your lovely comment! 🙏💕
I have Scottie and he is fine with whatever I do. I break up grooming into 2 days but he is fine with all of it. He has a joyful personality / he tells me he’s had enough for the day.
Yay, so glad to meet a home groomer! Two Scotties is a handful, for sure, but you got this! If you're not planning on stripping, start with a #2 or #4 on their bodies so you can practice blending and be kind on the under-coat! Good luck, let us know how it goes (really, really)! ❤
That Scottie was one of the most calm down ive seen at a groomer. Used to own a Westie. She wouldnt behave at a groomer unless I was there. Then again, when she was a puppy, one of the groomers cut small portion of her ear.
Oof, so sorry, Michael! A bad grooming experience can really traumatize a pup! But thanks for your kind words... Bentley was a challenge at first but has now become a complete sweetie! Unusual for the breed, but I'll take it! 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
Duncan, William, and Angus! I love it! Haha, yes, I've had plenty of Scottie close calls over the years, but they've never gotten me, which makes me think they may not really mean it. 😅 Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Sharon! Happy Grooming! 😍
Thank you so much, and yes, Bentley is an honor to groom! And thanks for the compliment - but I'm sure you could learn to groom just as well (and I'm not just saying that!) Practice, research, and the right tools will get you where you want to be. Good luck and Happy Grooming! 😍
Awww.. he just like my Scottie. I trim my Scottie myself. I don’t need to hold him or tie him or anything. He just sits and waits like Bentley. My Scottie is calmer and more good natured than most Scotties so I think it’s also because of good temperament.
Aw, I love this! You are so right, most Scotties get a bad rap - but they can be stubborn and snappy (if we are being honest!) But they really do mean well. I think it's more getting to know the quirks of their personality and making sure they feel comfortable, as it seems like you have with your Scottie! Thanks so much for your comment! 💕
Hi Coach! I use two types of clippers and lengths for Bentley: the back pattern is done really short by request of the client with a #9 on Wahl Bravuras (about 2mm left) - but if you really want a more natural hand stripped look, I would use a #2 or #4 guide-comb (about 6-8mm) for the back pattern. For his legs, I use a #1 (12mm) on my Oster Volt but hand-scissor the skirt. These particular clippers can be found on our website as part of my favorites, if that may help: www.ginasgrooming.com/clippers. Thanks so much for watching! 🙏😊
You make it look easy! You do a wonderful job. However, as a scottie Mom, I know it's not. I started doing my Maddies cuts myself and it takes me forever. Groomers decided she was to wiggly and difficult for them. But she's worth the extra effort. Love her dearly.💖Wish I could do as well as you. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 BTW, Bentley is so cute!
Hi Carolyn, LOL, Maddie sounds like an adorable handful! I'm so glad to hear you jumped in and are bonding with her through grooming! And yes, Scotties are def on my list of more challenging to groom, but they're also on my list of the funniest and most loveable characters I have the honor of meeting. Thanks so much for your kind comment! 🙏😍
Carolyn what I discovered is a groomer make my Scottie anxious. Little patience. A special Scottie trim takes skills and time. Not just a blade and go.
@Glenda Everson That's so true Glenda. It takes patience and some effort to get her groomed. I've found that she behaves much better with me than the groomer. I've gotten better, but it's definitely not perfect. But Maddie is always beautiful to me. 💓😊
@@GinasGrooming yes, I'll never be without a Scottie dog for the rest of my life. A Ukrainian man shot my first, and my soul mate dog last October because my mom told him he couldn't hunt on their small property. The breeder I got her from felt like he lost a dog, too. So I got a puppy from him at a price that was affordable for me. They're special dogs.
Hi Lisa! Thanks 4 your question! Ear shaving = #10 (almost always). If u need more info on what a #10 is for pet grooming, pls let me know! Thanks so much for watching! 😊
Aw, sorry, Michael! Hopefully the video will encourage you to try to learn to do it yourself (I know it's hard, but you definitely can!) Thanks for watching! 😊
I’m so glad I do this myself. It’s a bonding experience.

That is a great Scottie cut! Bentley is awesome!! If my McDuff was that trained 🥰

My Scottie loves to be groomed. She gets supper excited when seeing the brush.
I love that, how cute! 😍 I'm sure your girl appreciates how positive you've made the experience! Thanks so much for sharing! 🥰
Bentley is so adorable! I have scotties of my own and they are impossible to groom 😂 love ur channel btw :)

Indeed, Bentley is very unique! (Well, as are all our fur babies!) 💕
Wow, what a good boy, and so handsome, wish I was able to do grooming like that! :)

I just got the job today for being a dog groomer, that's a good vid for us to gain new skills everyday ❤️😍
Yay, congratulations on your new dog grooming job! 😍 For us animal lovers, it's the best job in the world! Thanks for watching! 🙏

👍🏻 I wish mine would be still for me. They were okay until the nails were being trimmed.
What brand of clippers are you using and what “level” are you cutting at?!
