Here in Canada, Rustoleum is called Tremclad. I have been using it to paint (trucks, boats, snowmobiles, etc ) for over 30 years. 2 parts paint 1 part Acetone and it sprays quite well. I also use a few drops of fibreglass hardner. Great video.
I always use some type of enamel hardner like valspar and a clear for a more durable finish. Maybe in Texas you might not have to but up here on the east coast of Canada in the salt belt it definitely makes a difference using a hardener. Love the content and looking forward to seeing the results. P.S I think the truck would look amazing in yellow.
Huge help because i was going to choose gloss black and so happy that i did not. Semigloss is the winner but i might even go flat with matte clear coat. Doing my headlight internals on my gloss black Q50.
Thanks bro. I am just about to paint some hardware on some conga drums and wasn't sure whether to go gloss or semi-gloss. Definitely going semi-gloss black now. Still on the fence about painting the drums orange or yellow or leaving them natural oak w/ a clearcoat. Color would be cool but the natural oak is classic and classy.
My bro you inspired me I thought that it was so hard to do paint being a mechanic you believe that scared of messing up but now I think that I could have made more money ez painting thanks god bless
Que tremendo video brother me gusto mucho.... dices que das 3 pasadas eso seria también para los autos ahí en las lozas distes 3 a cada una pero en los carros funcionan igual? Otra cosa cuanto esperas entre pasadas? Gracias
This probably saved my ass... Idk why they aren't smart enough to do this at the hardware store for you to see the difference besides trying to explain what they look like in words.
I really am digging that flat black, so I am wanting to paint my 98.5 dodge ram 2500 flat black, what air compressor do you recommend? Also, do you mix the acetone in the paint gun or the can? And how many layers should I apply?
Don't use Acetone with your Rustoleum unless you want the paint to crack. Acetone Evaporates to quickly especially on a Hot Day. Use Mineral Spirits. I restored an Air Compressor last summer and it came out beautifully except at the very top, it wrinkled up like crazy , go figure.
Can you let me know the air pressure set and how long wait time between coats? Also will the paint chip from the tile after it dries or would you use a polyurethane clear to protect it?
Does it make a difference if you use Acetone or Mineral Spirits to thin it for your gun? The reason I ask is I have Acetone but my Rust-Oleum can says to use Mineral Spirits and I've heard that thinning your paint down to spray will make your paint more matte. I'm to figure out if one affects it's less or more. Also thanks for the video!
Perfect demo! I need the flat black! Can I make a request? Still have the paint? A lot of people either brush or roll it on. Can you do a demo on the tile brushing or roll it on?
9:53 Sorry to bother you again since I know I've commented already, but do you run a water separator before your paint gun? I don't have one and was wondering how critical it was to have.
Yo so what happens if you put a satin clear coat or semi-gloss clear coat over the flat enamel? Will it give it a little shine? I'm painting my spoiler, front lip and rear diffuser myself, but still don't know what sheen or clear coat to use. I don't want high gloss I know that, but I also don't want a flat finish.
how long inbetween coats? how long till fully cured? what presser are you running to the gun? really wanna redo my cheap paint job. aka Rust-Oleum 1 i fucked up using lacquer thinner....
Brother love your content been subbed and watching for while now. I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with. I'm wanting to paint my Ford Ranger and want to use Rustoleum as you have before however, I'm not sure should I use a clear coat or can I just use high gloss and wet sand and polish it out. I saw the awesome finish on you have on you Mitsubishi but couldn't remember if you used a clear, also if you were going to use a clear which brand and type would you use. Finally, I'm sorry for all the questions this is the last one I promise but I want to go with the Hunter green Rustoleum but I want to add gold flake to the paint, when do you add the flake would that be in the paint or would you add it to the clear. Once again any help would be much appreciated God bless you and your family.
Add the flake in the clear. Can get "Gold shimmer pearl" flake $10 and Speedokote 2k clearcoat off Amazon $59 a gallon. Dont thin the Speedokote just spray it as it is already thin enough. Make sure to turn your pressure up a bit 30-40 psi on the clear. Good luck
Hi GT. I have a question for you. I want to paint my truck Rustoleum Regal Red but it only comes in gloss and I want semi-gloss or satin. Is there anything I can add to the paint or do to control the sheen? Thanks.
I keep coming back to your Rustoleum videos. You do a great job on them. I have all of the material now for my first experiment to put some semi gloss on a utility trailer. Maybe you will see this and can respond, will this material hold up to occasional gasoline contact? I may want to use it on motorcycle engine cases. Thank you.
Mi saludes a todo la gente de Río Grande City. I enjoyed your video just what I was looking for. One question I have would you recommend a hardener for this rustoleum paint?
Love you're work m8! Any idea if I can wetsand semi-gloss black on roof of car to reduce orange peel and just apply another coat of semi-gloss with 2-1 ratio of Rustoleum lacquer thinner rather then acetone to get smother finish?
Is this paint Flammable I have some rust oleum glossy paint and I sprayed some glass jars that were alcohol pain-based as a lack of clear and I want to put some candles in the glass jars Will this be a problem
Buen review de la pintura una pregunta qué tal está la adición de este producto porque la verdad me has motivado a usarlo en mi carro muchas gracias por el video 👍🏼
All 3 colors look really dark was it because of of the sun LOL you didn't like the blue from the auto parts store just before selling my 65 I went with that color its nice I went as far as the pitina look. I did get to paint my 65 satin blk and white top & orange rallies bueno sir looking forward to the next video thanks RF.
I did like the sky blue for the truck. My brother sent me a picture of a same year truck with that color and I really liked the way it looks, especially with a white top. Patina was also on my mind, but for now this will do
Nice brother I was wondering if by any chance you would make a video of those three black using a electric spray gun if possible and thank you so much for your videos me estás enseñando mucho y lo aprecio
Be cautious of the Rustoleum Farm and Implement paint in gallons and spray cans. I got a gallon of low gloss black and the exact same thing, low gloss black, in they’re spray cans. After painting a tractor with the gallon and a bunch of small parts with the spray cans, it does not match. The spray cans are flat black and the gallon was gloss.
They usually put a drop on the lid to show what color is in the can. Have you drained the water out of the compressor lately (Hint, hint =-)? Sent an Email with tracking#.
That’s pretty cool, your local oreillys has that many selection on paint and they also mix paint for you. I’m in San Diego, Ca and none have as many paint options nor do they mix paint.
I'm liking the semi gloss. But I wonder what you would get off you mixed them all.
We did mix flat with semi-gloss.. here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/1Nk3ANqMRRw/v-deo.html
James Obert James you just give a good idea I’m going to mixed oh yea
I mix both and the job came awesome thank you for all these videos GT's 2 eres 💪El Chingo👍.
That came out really nice. With that mixture can I be apply the same on alloy rims?
We did my 88 coupe mustang Gloss black came out awesome

Thanks for taking time to do this for the viewers.

Doing my headlight internals on my gloss black Q50.
Just what I needed to see to help me with my project! Thanks a lot 💕
Video Still Hits After 2 Years, Thanks Bro!!😎🔥

Thank you for this post, it helped me make right decision for my project before spending a dime on paint
Video starts at 8:00
This is the perfect video I need 🙏🏼
Knowing that it's temporary the flat would be perfect. That gloss stands out nice though. Joe has some nice looking hat's. Another good video. Thanks.
My bro you inspired me I thought that it was so hard to do paint being a mechanic you believe that scared of messing up but now I think that I could have made more money ez painting thanks god bless
Thank you for making this video I liked seeing all 3 side by side
wow the FD has not changed the old heart skipped a beat awesome place much love to my Fd brothers RF.
Always useful these comparatives. Thank you!
I've seen his videos before. 13:27, when he starts talking to the fly I LAUGHED. Automatic thumbs up. lol
Fly said no man I won't mess up your paint so he let it fly away ;)

Hi, I have a quick question. Do you primer a car first before laying Rust-Oleum? Or do you just sand and lay it over the old paint?
Nice Job... Your video made me choose the Semi Gloss ... Thanks
You make it simple and easy - thanks !
I really am digging that flat black, so I am wanting to paint my 98.5 dodge ram 2500 flat black, what air compressor do you recommend? Also, do you mix the acetone in the paint gun or the can? And how many layers should I apply?
@12:42 to see results
Good job. Your comparison is very helpful . Thanks a lot!
Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Excellent video Sir. I’ll keep watching.
Nice!! Just what I needed, Bro.
Great video man thanks for this!!
Great video! Watching from Puerto Rico. Subscribed!
I like flat black, looks more hot rod type. Gloss or semi-gloss will only make imperfections stand out more.
Wtf you go in to McCoy's mixing your own paint like you own the place. Savage 😂😎👍
😂🤫
“Savage” is exactly what came out my mouth!

What do you think would hold up better on a Jeep semi-gloss black or flat black?
This just saved my ass. Thank you!
Good video. Looking forward to seeing that 66
I like the flat but how good is it for holding up against bird crap and other stuff? Flat paints usually mark real easy

Thanx bro, was helpful picking flat black for desk
I like all 3 of them. Great job

Hey bro I like the flat black you got Good videos keep it up 👍
I did my foxbody in semigloss and it looks killer. Iwas going to do flat but its a pain to wash and sometimes fades.
Solid video, thanks for that 👌🏼
Thanks for making this video!
Great video work! Thanks for the info too.
Now they have flat, gloss, and satin naming conventoion. Which is the shiniest gloss or satin?
I'm going to paint my boat trailer thanks for the video and it help me decide on flat back

He looks like the actor Diego Luna. I thought it was him.😜👍
Thank you, sir! Very helpful.

Love that gloss black !

Super helpful comparison
Joe Tyrone here what was your flash time used here with your application of each coat paint you sprayed ?
Love you're work m8! Any idea if I can wetsand semi-gloss black on roof of car to reduce orange peel and just apply another coat of semi-gloss with 2-1 ratio of Rustoleum lacquer thinner rather then acetone to get smother finish?
Awesome video. Great information 🤙🤙
Yeah but the tremclad gloss dont stay glossy long , especially in the sun, sadly.
How well do they resist being scratched off? Can you reduce with acetone and then brush on?
Is this paint Flammable I have some rust oleum glossy paint and I sprayed some glass jars that were alcohol pain-based as a lack of clear and I want to put some candles in the glass jars Will this be a problem

does acetone work better when thinning down the paint opposed to low odor mineral spirits?
Do you need to clear over the flat black with a flat clear? Or does it hold up?
Gloss black is really really nice bro..
I dont know if you will reply but I want your feedback, I know paint thinner is cheaper than acetone but which do you recommend?
acetone
which black option is best for wood furniture?
Your are painting over raw material, would it be better to use the flat or a primer?
Thanks for comparing them...
Could you use a roller to paint some handrails for a business with this kind of paint and how would you do it rather thin out the paint with acetone
Great video
The semi-gloss would look good in engine bay.
Nice brother I was wondering if by any chance you would make a video of those three black using a electric spray gun if possible and thank you so much for your videos me estás enseñando mucho y lo aprecio
New to the channel. Good job 👍🏽
Can you spray intercoat clear or clear with flake in it over the rustoleum gloss paint?

That must have sucked
Eddie W Rustoleum does suck.
You ever do scratch test on those paint?
Why did you mix the paint with acetone better results or longer-lasting?
You have to dilute/ reduce Rustoleum to be able to spray it through a gun and they recommend acetone
Great edit man.
bad ass man. thanks
I like the flat black
Thanks guy.

Good stuff

Wait where is he located? I also never knew they mixed paint for you. I doubt mine does. Jk i updated it i heard him say where his was lmao
California has laws and shit against any harmful 2 the environment products. They wont even sell some pressure washers in CA because of it.
@@christianbrothersen8503 I am glad I don't live in that shit hole
Same results on solid wood?
