Yes, and each brand was still true to it's heritage, Mercedes with the big Muscle V8 6.2 and twin-turbo V12s, BMW with high revs flat plane V8s and V10s, Audi playing with V10 from Lamborghini and V12 diesels, VW with W8 (Passat) W12 (Touareg). Nowadays every single one of them has a 4 liter twin-turbo V8 with ZF transmission, it’s quite boring actually (but efficient).

I'm a big Diesel fan but I didn't expect this, with a modern gearbox this thing is mental. And they get like 15l/100km (15,681 MPG). Not bad for such a big vehicle with massive towing capacity!

These v12 were relatively untuned as stock With a little work and nous I’ve had two that are 1350 Nm and 690HP. What holds them .back is the six speed gear box. Shame they didn’t have the 8 speed used in later Q7s and the A8 mounted with the 4.2 V8. Still with 1350nm I leave the sq7s for dead in a straight line Love these albatrosses!

While it's true that diesel's produce more soot and visible pollution, petrol's actually produce more dangerous "invisible" emissions. audi dcts are not strong enough for that engine and will make it last less that 100k km overall, like 50k km less that what they can now
