My father is a successful businessman (now retired), has never idolized wealth or money for its own sake but used to often say, "Money has a way of buying freedom in our society." Very true. Now what you do with that freedom - it becomes a question of what you value for a happy life.

I really like the way Jonathan interviews. He balances very well his intelligent feedback with allowing his guests the time to make their point. He allows us to get the absolute most out of all the topics he covers.

I'm happy that Jonathan mentioned privilege because it is truly an important part of her journey and her belief that she could have a business at a young age, ask to create her own major at college, and live for years in nyc (in her mother's apt) for years without a real job. I think her story is powerful and worthy of hearing. Just needed this recognition of not being "self-made" but privileged.

Great interview as always. I think she hit the nail on the head that people stay small or get "secure" 9 to 5 jobs because they don't have other examples of lives other than that. It's what we learn from others. The question is - can we learn to think a different way?

Hi there! I appreciate this interview and I've got a note that I'd give
to Katie for her to grow further. If she saw that "Ah Ha" moment as a gift from
the Holy Spirit; as her 'God sense' then she could more faster on her journey of
awareness. She's gaining a lot of strength and knowledge, but I'm not certain she knows
where this info is coming from.
I'm following Katie to find out what she can teach me, she is so much on the right track!
    Go Katie!

If all this were that easy I would not be in the position I am in now. Sometimes life just deals you a hand that no matter how great you know yourself to be and how inventive you are, money just doesn't flow into ones life and they're faced with having to file for chapter 7 in order to start life a new.
I wonder where she'd be and what her thoughts would have been if she didn't have the support she needed to get through the toughest part of her life... :/

One word of advise; get out of the self pity, stop being a whiner. If your parents werent supportive and they left you with problems those are your problems now and its up to you to fix them. Chap 7 isnt the end.

Look, I'm Not in self-pity, I've filed before & know that it’s a Great way to begin again, but I know other people in the same boat as myself who are losing Everything they have while are buying books like hers believing that it’s going to help yet the only thing they’re getting is further in debt by trying to follow someone’s advice that never had the support system She Had.
My Basic BEEF was that she's telling the world that if you start valuing yourself more then everything will change & be easier but a person can value themselves all they want However without money to start on ones dreams & without a Real Support System in place, no amount of positive thinking is going to bring to fruition a person’s desires & get them out of their hole.
So many books like hers are out & the only one whose dreams are coming true is Hers.
PS: unless you know a persons situation I would ADVISE that You not comment on someone's post.
Bless You & Your Ignorance of others

It is amazing how many people are really gullible. She makes money by selling her crap to people who believe that being spiritual means also that you should make and have lots of money. Success is not based on just having financial wealth - because not everyone can be wealthy- but real success is the ability to have peace of mind when the world is falling around you.

The thing about self improvement books is that if you open your mind and heart, practice 1 or 2 improvements, then live them, you will surely be in a better place. I have always been financially responsible due to awesome non nonsense fiercely responsible parents one of who is now 93. We had nothing growing up and my Dad started his own business and one day called me up and told me about a milestone he achieved and I was so proud of him. I think the sky is your limit always.

I hear you but then I like how books like hers give me hope. However I do believe there are deep systemic issues as to why there's always this HUGE gap between the very rich and the very poor.

@Pheonix Airbender hopefully the time has transpired in your favor, but I think there is much to what they were saying. Whether or not you knew it at the time, you literally used your level of difficulty to justify why you're not where you wanted to be. And, with that mindset, only two things remain: a.) you want to be somewhere greater and b.) you're not there.
This is not to belittle how difficult things were for you (and still may be), but SOOO many people get caught up in that form of self-talk and it ends up being their demise in their old age. Whether or not you've achieved your breakthrough yet, there is much more to be said about the mindset and perspective on your situation and not the situation itself.
Don't allow one person's story (which, by the way, was edited, chopped and re-glued for the sake of time) to cause you to have contempt for how the journey to success may or may not unfold.
Your story is yours and will never be taken away from you. Kate's story is Kate's.

I don't doubt that a person surrounded such emotional and material support cannot also be a passionate and diligent worker (one would hope so). Still, if the point of GLP is to inspire viewers, this missed the mark. If finding her adult independence after a business hiccup with her more successful mom is her life-defining moment, not very interesting compared to past guests.
