Gabe and Pablo...thank you so much for your very informative videos. I live in the Atlanta area and I'm beginning to research mattresses that are most compatible with an adjustable base. Your videos have been extremely helpful on bringing to light so many different things to consider when purchasing a new mattress. I'm taking lots of notes!

Some of the most knowledgeable people in the mattress business. Good video. I just ordered a good mattress from these guys can’t wait for it to arrive. I was very surprised of how affordable they are compared to the bigger mattress corporations.

    1. No one asks anymore about the GSM?, is it only applicable only for completely natural materials such as Wool, Cotton, Horsetail hair etc.?
    2. Craftsmanship techniques involved like Hand Tufting, Side stitching, Tape edge or Hand slipped pipe closure etc.
    3. Two-sided mattress?

GSM isnt a measurement you see for polyurethane foam or latex foam. Polyfoam you will typically see in lbs per cubic ft. For the few places that tell you this info it will look something like 1.8pcf or 1.8lb, thats telling you the density of it is 1.8lbs per cubic foot. Latex is typically measured in kg per cubic meter. For this you will typically see a measurement that says something like D65 for soft latex, or D90 for really firm. You will also see latex often not measured by its density, but rather by the amount of weight needed to compress it 25%. This is another way of telling you how firm it is aside from density. For example the D65 latex is a soft latex that should be around 19ILD, meaning 19lbs of weight compresses a slab of latex by 25%. A firm latex will be around 34-46ILD. You see this measurement used in polyurethane foams as well but usually just when purchasing straight from foam suppliers. Another thing worth mentioning is in some polyurethane foam density and firmness has no relation at all. You can have a 10lb memory foam that is firm and a 16lb memory foam that is plush and vice versa.

I think for craftman techniques most of the time people dont ask, and the way its made is usually in line with the materials of the mattress. If they intend for you to feel the top layer of memory foam or latex as much as possible and want a material that will stretch so that you sink into it better, then you will have some kind of stretch knit cover. If you have layers of cotton or wool batting for example that you dont want to bunch up , then they might do tufting to keep it in place. Or if they want to quilt layers of material into the panel to change the feel in some way, then a quilted cover, ect. Then two sided mattresses are more rare but they still certainly do still exist and can be found.

@@Inbal_Feuchtwanger I forgot, those Latex and foams ARE SOLID Blocks unlike the Hollow nature of completely natural materials.
Are you familiar with material “Cold Foam”?

@@hastensavoir7782 Im somewhat familiar with Cold foam, which I believe is another name for HR foam. High Resilience foam seems to have been gaining popularity in mattresses recently. I know Engineered sleep puts it in their Today mattress, Ikea has started putting it in a couple of theirs. One property of it that people seem to have issues with is as it compresses more it feels firmer, like its pushing back at you. So often its better as a transition layer underneath a more forgiving polyfoam layer. Its supposed to be really durable too I hear. Thats about the extent of my knowledge of cold foam though, not very in depth and I dont have personal experience with it.

Walks into a mattress firm, asks for the density of the foam in literally any mattress they sell, gets stared at blankly.Just sayin, thats probably how that one is going to go for most people lol
