Thanks again for another inspirational video during a very hot & fortunately wet summer. A video suggestion for yourself and other “lost river rats”. A youngster out of Michigan calling himself “Chiefz” recently posted a video entitled “Finesse Floats & Flies for Summer Atlantics”. They are using spinning gear, floats & tandem wet flys at a large dam on I believe the St. Mary’s river near Sault Ste. Marie. Sure would be nice to see a fishery like that around lake O!
The state of New York has recently Increased There efforts With Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon, In the Salmon River. Hopefully We will be seeing Positive results in the future. It would be awesome To have a summer Atlantic salmon fish Or Lake Ontario
@@JayPeckGuidesLostRiversFishing Yes, I’ve read and commented on DEC’s latest improvement plan but unless NYS is willing to spend a ton of money to improve summer stream conditions on the SR I’m none to hopeful!
I want to learn to fish more midge nymphs and the rigging explanation was great, particularly since I fish often with an indicator. In this leader set up, how long do you like your leader from the fly line to where you add the weight and 6x? Is it about 11' (9' leader + 2' of 5x)?
Jay - your rig is my favorite way to nymph gentle spring creeks and tailwaters. I have often found the shallow nymph rig presenting emergers and split backs 4 to 6 inches under the surface film, much more effective than dry flies when the trout are bulging during a hatch. Have you experienced the same?
Thanks, Jay. Well done!
Thank you too!
I am from mass and very new to the run I love your info on the tips
Awesome! Thank you!

Jay - why do you wear a different hat for steelhead fishing?
That is simple, I like keeping the Sun off my ears
So, you’re about 3 steps away from where I found your late father-in-law’s truck keys. The sulphurs were on that evening.
