Probably one of the rare honest buyer reviews available.. thank you..I'm anxiously(probably not as much as you) waiting your results and findings before I pull the trigger and buy one myself
I had a similar problem with my Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus. While assembling it, I knew the poor design of the cable leading to the hotend/extruder would overly stress the cable, leading to a premature failure, which is exactly what happened at the point I predicted. After removing the nylon braid, I found four wires on the right side of the cable completely severed. Frustrated by weeks of waiting for Creality to return to work after their l-o-n-g New Year’s celebration, I snipped off the damaged area and replaced the cable connector using parts and a tool ordered from Amazon. Very easy to do, but make absolutely certain you install the new 24-pin connector with the correct polarity. I did this repair on my S1 Plus (now printing as well as it ever did) as well as my Anycubic Kobra - ditto. BTW, I twice repaired the equivalent cable on my Prusa. Now that its warranty has expired, the next time that happens - as it surely will - I will reengineer the entire cable assembly, doing what Prusa engineers should have done. It is truly amazing that so many aspects of 3-D printing are so half-baked because manufacturers hire engineers who seemingly flunked Logic 101.
Mine was doing the same thing, I bought a new extruder, did not work, then I found this video. So I took the ribbon cables apart plaid around with it seated it extra good, and now it is working. Ordering a new ribbon but glad just re adjusting it is working for now. Thanks
I got my S1 PRO about a couple of weeks ago, I did 3 perfect prints and since yesterday I have the same problem. The drive died. I will contact creality tomorrow, monday 15-5-23. Thanks for your video!
Hi Brad, I got yesterday the ribbon cable, for free, I installed it and tested it and works perfectly. My hope now is that this first problem was also the last.... Let's see. Thank you again for your videos!
@@theofanisdiavatis5671 I heard this is what it might be too. I changed out the extruder and then the entire sprite motor and still no fix. Last thing to replace is the hot end circuit board and cable.
Since the motor was oscillating to and back for a moment it can be electrical issue. One of the poles/windings of motor might not be functioning. It could me motor itself, wiring from motherboard to the motor or motherboard. Take electrical tester, unplug motor from the distribution board and check if the is continuity from the distribution board to motherboard pins. Wire can brake especially at connection point to the metal insert inside connector. Also check if motor poles / windings has resistance value. In other words windings are not open/broken.
After 80+ good prints, in the first two weeks, I had the same problem, no flow and wheel not turning. I contacted Creality support, with many emails. they were no help. Looking for clogs I couldn't remove the aluminum block and managed to mark up the block (yes I remove the two screws and tiny set screw). So I ordered a new extruder ($99 my cost) Waiting for it to come in.
Had a similar issue with my 6 month old Ender 3 S1 Pro. I found by removing the power cable from the cable holder on the extruder it worked fine, for now anyway!
I Have the exact same issue. Locks up about halfway across the bed and won’t advance any filament with the direct drive. I got in touch with Creality live support and they said it’s a bad ribbon cable. I will have to wait till they send a replacement to see if that solves anything but I would like to hear what they have to say when they get back to you.
Hello Yesterday I had the same problem on my Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro. You can watch “Service tutorial Ender - 3 S1 the motor troubleshooting” But most probably it’s the same problem so just check the cable above the head right on the edge bit with the lining and the dug tape, I had a broken line in the cable. Look from damage in lines second to the sixth they are responsible for the motor.
I didn’t see anything wrong but I couldn’t test the main harness, I need to get a different multimeter. They are sending me a extruder component and flat cable.
i actually sent back my ender s1 , the ribbon cable to the hotend just plain sucked ,, i knew it would be a problem ,, sucks your extruder quit ,, cheers hope next one is better, i will plan and simple never buy a ender product again ,, i had 2 now ,, and both junk
Yes I had a fault with an Ender v3 s1 plus and sent it back not this… I am going through the diagnostics and will see what the issue is. I got an anycubic Kobra plus just got up and running now doing some test prints and will post a video later this week
I have an Ender 3 S1 Pro and I love it. Been printing with it since the end of November. So far, the only issues I’ve had were human error. I tensioned the y axis belt and forgot to level again. Beyond that, has been a workhorse!
Lucky you! The company has a complaint on file for their machine starting a fire in a teenagers bedroom. And this company is stating you can leave their machine printing while you monitor it on a networked connection? Who allows this kind of product into our country? I agree with the person below @Atlantic_Adventures - Creality's product is worthless and dangerous.
Like any product certain care needs to be observed. I’ve had some runaway prints happen with no serious issues. Had filament caked against hot end, again, no big problem. I do keep in on a networked plug that I can kill if needed.
Wondering Did you ever hear back from Creality? Please let me know. They have sent me the adapter plate and a new hot end box and wiring after they instructed me to do something that blew the hot box. So now I purchased a new extruder and they want me to prove that I did. I told them after 8 months I am not engaging them, if I don't have a new printer on my doorstep on the 20th I will go to every where in the world to post my issues with them. Too many people have been having the same issues on the same machine. You can't even test the stepper motor like the Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro. This machine is not buildable either. Now who wants a machine you can't build upon. I want a new printer and I want the Ender 3 Pro. The S1 is the WORST machine on the market. You see this Creality? I have Begun. Refund or a New Machine Please and Thank You! BTW On Ebay they are selling all the returned S1 Pro's for 1/4 of the price or even less. You have to fix it yourself though. But from the reviews they have all been the extruder issue. I should have stuck with my original decision, the AnyCubic Korbra or Viper. This company needs to be stopped. The machines are unsafe. constructed with tin soldering a Fire Hazard. How did they get into the USA? That is my question.
Yes they got back with me and it was the cable. To your point Bambu lab just is going through a similar issue and they issued the recall and you can get your money back or wait for the fix.
@@brade3249 Which cable the one going to the extruder? I had the same issue, but when I took it apart like you did, the gears looked fine like yours but when I wiggled the gears a little they seemed to pop back into place. Anyway, although mine is working now it's not printing clean like it was before so I have to do a lot more sanding, so we'll see once I change the extruder gears if that was the issue.
Hey man, have you fixed this issue? I have the same machine and my extruder will "skip" and the print will fail. I recently switched to elegoo pla filament and printed off 2 full rolls with no issues. The third roll, I started getting issues. I have cleared clogs, switched nozzles, replaced the ribbon cable to the hot end and the only thing I can figure out is my printer just doesn't like the elegoo filament. Which sucks because I have about five full rolls of it. Any help would be appreciated
@@brade3249 So last night, after countless hours of research, my extruder tension was too tight. I adjust my tension and pulled off an almost perfect print.

I will post an update video soon

That’s not good hope for the best

Yeah I'm thinking make sure the motor connector is fully seated, and the wires aren't damaged
It’s a year later - what happened?

I have been chatting to creality through Amazon and they been pretty responsive. They are sending a component and flat cable.
Because I marked up the extruder I figured they would void the warranty, so I bought the new extruder myself.
@@davidsteed4896 yes makes sense, it is always good to have some spare parts too 👍🏻

I have the same issue, what part of the ribbon cable? did you fix it or replace it
Did you ever find the fault/a fix? Having same issue except it clicks when trying to extrude and skips grabbing the filament
It was the cable, have you tried adjusting the tension screw on the head?
Has your extruder died yet? The problem you speak of is what happened before mine gave out.
Get a Bambu Lab 3D printer. I have an Ender 3 S1 Pro and it’s a lot of work. If I had it over again I’d have gotten a Bambu Lab printer.
I would love to get one, got to save up :)

What is the thickness of the filament? That’s odd that it would not drive right
