Great video thanks! BTW - you don't need to take the bottom off to check the chip version. You can look at the existing firmware on your printer (under 'About') and if it ends in F4 it's 401, and if it ends in F1 it's 103.

1:45 Creality needs to take notes on how to correctly do a step by step guide. This saved me from going more insane! Why didn't I youtube this yesterday when I spent 8 hours finding/formatting the correct type of sd card, I dont know. This literally only took a few minutes and I was up and running. Btw, the new update is cool. I like how the bed level shows you each probed result! Thank you!
Thank you for this! I gave up on my printer last year. I didn't realize I was using the incorrect firmware and I was getting nowhere. With your help I was able to open my printer up and see I have the 401 version. This, along with your immaculate step by step guidance, helped me bring my printer back to life. You are top tier, my friend.
Thank you so much for this Video. I have always been wary of messing with any firmware but you made the process easy. Also showing how to reformat the card was incredibly helpful since all I had was a 128gb micro. Firmware updated and seems to be working flawlessly!

A Great video and very detail on the steps. This video was very helpful and upgrade worked no problem. Save the down load on your computer not on Microsoft one drive.
Best explanation I have seen on this subject... I just updated my Creality S1 Pro using this exceptionally good video and everything works as it should at once. Many thanks!!! regards from Amsterdam Holland
Hi, thanks a lot. I've having issues with my printer since I bought. I can update the frimeware following your step by step and it works. Thanks a lot since Colombia.
Greetings from Germany. Although I have a technical knack, but due to many horror stories from the forum, I have not yet dared to make the update. I haven't had any real problems with the laser so far, but I was a bit dissatisfied with the performance. Many thanks for the great explanation!
I needed this because I used a Sonic Pad at first and it bricked my screen. The SP was great at first, but then it started losing connection a lot and messed up a TON of prints. Ordered a Raspberry Pi 4B and I'm going to use OctoPi/OctoPrint.
Come back to your videos all the time for a quick reminder and refresher on my S1Pro. I am still relatively new to it and there aren't many S1Pro dedicated videos that are this well explained and articulated. Thanks for your hard work and hope to see more! Possibly about any hardware upgrades or klipper V marlin?
I had some issues with the partitioning an SD card that is larger than the 8GB and it wouldn't work unless I got an 8GB sandisk micro sd card after and it worked perfectly. But other than that this is a solid video to describe how to do this and I think this channel seems helpful.
Great video, just what I was looking for. I understood everything you said and the hands on approach has given me the confidence to check my firmware. Thank you
You got a new subscriber. Nice clear video, straight to the point and no excess graphics. Sadly I am removing my Sonicpad so reverting to the standard firmware and selling all my Creality kit. I am off to Bambu Labs. Never having to level beds or set Z Offset is making my grey hair go brown again! Lol!
Thanks for the clear and concise info. I noticed that you have a decent drawer organiser for the tool kit, not supplied with my printer. Are these available and if so from where?. Thanks once again and keep providing. BTW I will be performing this update as soon as I have acquired Sandisks.
It is a project I did on this channel. You can see the details and download the stl file on my website dandesigns3d.com/project/drawer-organizer-for-ender-3-s1-pro/
Very clear instructions on how to upgrade firmware. Thanks! I would like to have the option to manually create a bed mesh instead of using the autoleveling feature. A video describing the procedure for modifying the firmware would be great.
@@dandesigns3d Thanks for your reply. After the auto level are you saying to edit the nozzle offset/height (which would affect the nozzle height for the entire bed) or actually changing a bed mesh value (which would change the nozzle height for that specific position on the bed)?
Actually changing the bed mesh values. One auto level finishes the offsets for each location show in a matrix on screen. You can touch each one and edit it.
I don't see a matrix on the screen after autoleveling. I see the same screen as before I autoleveled. I'm currently running 2.0.8 24F and V1.0.2. Looks like when I install the updated firmware that I will have this feature. I just searched the internet and found your webpage stating, "If you have the latest firmware, you can view and edit these values on the screen for further customization." This feature is not talked about anywhere that I've found on the internet. That is fantastic to know. Thank you for sharing this information. I really appreciate your help. I'll be updating my firmware ASAP.
A very well made video. Helped me update to the latest version. Thanks from India. Few questions 1. Did you try the 160mm/s speed? If yes can you share your settings? Both machine and slicer. 2. I can see thumbnail preview via creality print 4x version output gcode only. Cura 5.7 worked but the new update killed it and Orca does not work at all. Can you help? 3. Have to tried updating to TT firmware? Idea for a new video maybe 😊
Thanks, glad it helped! 1. I have printed things at 150 with good results. I use cura and mostly stock settings 2. It appears the preview only works with the creality slicer. I was thinking of trying to make a plugin for cura that works. 3. I'll consider this. Thanks for watching
Good video. Well explained, thanks! Just to save some people a step, Windows 11 has recently added native support for RAR files. Just Right-click on the RAR file. Select “Extract All…", job done. No need to install WinRar :)
Great video Dan thanks. Could I ask? I have just followed the instructions on your video but I’m sure I already had the latest firmware on my printer. When I done the screen update I didn’t get the blue screen list come up and was thinking that’s because the firmware was the same?? Also having big issues trying to get the machine to run from USB instead of SD. Have you done any videos on this process?
Hi, Im trying to update the lcd firmware without succes.... When I power on the printer, the LCD screen has power but stays black. Why is this? My printer itself is updated...
Did you remove the micro SD card from the screen after the update? If so, another possibility is the screen update failed. Prepare a different Micro SD card as I show in the video and try again. Pay attention to the format and what files should be on it. Both are important.
Many people saying this latest update will mess with the auto level, people saying the extruder scrached the heat bed, can anyone give me some feedback on this? Thanks
I haven't had any issues with it. As long as you make sure to set your Z-Offset properly you should be fine. Do a manual level and then the auto level after the update.
thanks for that, some info here, after updating the screen it will reboot itself to the normal screen print thing, about the motherboard dont know mine dont work the sd card slot so idk
To be clear, the screen boots to the updated screen once the power is turned off the micro SD card is removed from the screen and the power is turned back on. I don't understand what you said about the SD card in the motherboard. Are you having trouble updating the motherboard?

If I were you I would look into editing the latest firmware for the S1 to increase the max temp. I don't know for sure but I think you will have issues trying to load the S1 firmware on a S1 Pro.
Unfortunately, my S1 Plus gets stuck in a boot loop on the initial screen. I followed all the steps from the video, tried reverting to the old firmware, and updating it again, but it still loops. For some reason, the loop stops when I remove the SD card, but I've already tested several cards, and the problem persists.
Make sure you're using the proper firmware. My instructions are for the S1 PRO. Also I can't guarantee you that all the instructions are totally accurate for the S1 Plus.

I did not notice this before I went ahead with the main board upgrade. When I then looked at the versions to make sure all was good I found the display version was blank in the about screen - this made me realise that update had not worked. I fixed the Micro SD and ran the display update again; this time it showed it had succeeded. However. when I now boot I, after the splash screen I get a language select screen beyond which it will not proceed to start (I beeps if I select a country and goes nowhere). I've read multiple articles that describe renaming the main board .BIN file to have it re-flash again but nothing has helped. Any ideas from others here would be appreciated.
You might try repeating the process with an old version. One old enough that both the display and board version is earlier. Once you get it working on the old version try the update to newest again.
