      Hi I am 15 and want to make a career in scuba diving but don't know how to start. I have been interested in swimming and scuba diving form a very young age but don't know how to start with it. And what are the basic requirements to make a career in scuba diving.

    I learned to dive with Forra Diving on Koh Lipe, Thailand.
    What an experience!
    Never thought I would ever have the guts to dive. However I am now a certified open water diver.
    Thank you Forra Diving and PADI.

    Hey guys, I'm a young guy, 21 years old and I'm really looking for a career that has to do with diving. Especially in the tropical pacific since my dad is from Guam.
    This looks AMAZING! But what does this training actually give you the ability to do? What career fields can you enter after doing this training?

    • @ChamorruWarrior
      @ChamorruWarrior 9 років тому

      robertd1968 Thanks for the reply. In fact next weekend I'm headed up to Washington with my instructor to complete my rescue diver course =)
      Btw, are you an instructor? How realistic is it for me to make a decent living and raise a family as a PADI instructor?

    • @jennicardell8302
      @jennicardell8302 9 років тому

      ChamorruWarrior Not realistic. There is a joke I particularly love... How do you make a million dollars in the dive industry? Start with two million.
      Do NOT become an instructor to make money. And please, do NOT become an instructor because you love to dive and you want to get paid to do it. DO become an instructor because you love to dive and you want to share that with others.
      It is GREAT that you've gone through Rescue certification! Have you asked your current instructor about making a living as an instructor? He/she would be the best person for you to have a in-depth conversation about the possibilities for you to do this.

    • @ChamorruWarrior
      @ChamorruWarrior 9 років тому

      Jenni Cardell Thanks for this real advice! My instructor makes a living off diving as far as I know. I'll ask him about it. My plan was to join the Air Force (Which I am regardless) and then save enough money to open a dive school when I get out. I guess my girl and I have some things to talk over about what our plans are for after the Air Force. Thank you so much for this realistic advice.

    • @jennicardell8302
      @jennicardell8302 9 років тому

      Happy to help! I absolutely loved teaching and really miss it. I do know a few people who have managed to build something that works as a career, but not many and it is tough tough tough. There is a high degree of market saturation and, frankly, with what we are doing to the oceans in terms of climate change, overfishing, garbage patches, etc it isn't like opportunities will be expanding.
      Sidebar from diving, thank you for your plan to serve! I'm from a military family - you might find that staying with a military career will give you a stable future plus the opportunity to be stationed places where you can dive for fun!
      Final thought... Think about commercial diving. If you are calm, not claustrophobic, fit, and mechanically skilled, you can make big money there.

    • @ChamorruWarrior
      @ChamorruWarrior 9 років тому

      Jenni Cardell Thanks, I actually thought about joing the Navy diver program (As I am above average in fitness and young) but I decided that I would be gone too much and that's not cool to my wife, also, maybe diving should just be for fun, idk if it would ruin it to be a job...
      Thanks, again. You're the only person who has said "no" to me so far and I kind of had this feeling in my gut that diving would not pay the bills. You're awesome!

    Helo. i was Wondering. I got the PADI Open water sertification. and PADI Advanced Open water sertification. Dose that mean that i got the Adventure sertification aswell?. cause when i read about it.. it some how states that Adventure is a Part of Advanced.. Soo.. Do Adventure Go along with the Advanced open water? or i still have to "take a adventure" kind of sertification?

    • @fig05
      @fig05 8 років тому +1

      +Dark Silver Hi, PADI Adventure Diver is a subset of Advanced Open Water Diver. In a sense, you have already passed through Adventure Diver to reach Advanced. Adventure Diver is earned when you complete 3 Adventure dives with an instructor. These same 3 dives count towards Advanced, but you are also required to do a Deep dive and a Navigation dive to earn your Advanced Diver certification. There really is no need to have both certifications if you already completed Advanced. I hope this helps.
